Yesitisdakid Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 For a long time you could only use Line and Whatsapp on 1 device. Just found out of late (for me anyway) that you can link a second device say a tablet or a second cell phone to your Line account and use on either device. Whats app even better can link 4 devices. In my case 2 phones a tablet and my desktop PC. Sorry if this is old news i just discovered it. 5

maipenrai Posted July 16, 2025 Posted July 16, 2025 I dunno, I have WhatsApp on my Thai iPhone, and was able to connect it to my MacAir as well easily - but if I try to connect my Canadian home IPhone, it won't do it - it wants to create a whole new ID for me and will only show home contacts; maybe it's a regional issue, i.e. if I try to connect my home phone while I am over in Thailand, perhaps that would work. Line is annoying because it will only support two devices - I have it on my Thai phone which I keep working at home through WiFi and also on my MacAir but I can't add it to my home phone as well which would be really handy as almost all of my overseas contacts are in Line and I can only use it when I am at home.
Toy Boy Posted July 16, 2025 Posted July 16, 2025 I have LINE on my phone and PC, but whenever I open it on the PC I have to authorise it by scanning a QR code on the PC app with the phone. Is there a way to get around that annoyance? <scratcheshead emoji>

I've had similair issues having WhatsApp on my UK phone and then hit problems when I had it running on the Thai phone I bought when I moved here. For the life of me I can't remember how I linked the two phones to one WhatsApp account but the WhatsApp on my Thai phone has always been flaky. At first I couldn't add new contacts on my Thai phone to my existing contacts (UK and Ireland), then I had a fatal crash on my Thai Phone All of my chat history was deleted in WhatsApp from my Thai phone, but thankfully was still on my UK (converstions and photos from family and friends all wiped from the Thai phone). I then needed to edit every contact to get WhatsApp to work on the Thai phone, changing the dialling codes, just to receive messages from existing contacts. As result I now as much as possible use Line on the Thai phone for Thai based contacts, and keep WhatsApp just for my UK contact book. Edited July 16, 2025 by Lemondropkid
coxyhog Posted July 16, 2025 Posted July 16, 2025 Whatsapp stopped supporting my 2015 Macbook Pro so I now use it through my Safari web browser, takes about 2-3 seconds longer to log on. Can't use Line on there because I forgot my password, but use it on my mob.

The only problem I have encountered is that the notification ping on the mobile get cancelled out. If you are in the middle of a conversation you have to pay closer attention. Sucks sometimes. 1

I keep my LINE and WhatsAPP both open on my MacAir which in turn is run through my Sony TV and I don't have to keep logging in - my Thai phone is also kept on all the time so I can use either, but only when I am home through my own WiFi. I keep the ringer off on the Thai phone but i get an audible signal from the TV when messages come in on LINE - don't think I do on WhatsApp but that might just be a setting option. 1
