I just had a very testing experience trying to get Santander UK to transfer money to wifey's account in Thailand via Wise.

On the 6th I sent £25k to wifey's BKK account through Wise with no problems,I've sent money to her account and mine many times without a problem.

Tried to sent the same amount today & Santander blocked it.So I rang their fraud department & got an extremely obstructive African sounding individual who eventually rang off on me and blocked all access to my accounts.

So I rang them again, explained everything again to different guy and it was all reset and the transfer took place.A transfer that should've taken 10 minutes took 90👹.

I wouldn't mind but we have a joint account with Santander so I was actually transferring her own money to her own account.

They don't seem to like duplicate transfers of large amounts especially in a short space of time.

A double edge sword unfortunately.

No excuse for the lady on the phone to act as she did though.

I transferred some money to my Bangkok Bank this morning.  Surprisingly the transfer was completed in seconds.  Previously for Kasaikorn bank it was instant and Bangkok Bank it was next day or sometimes two days.

What reason did you put for the transfer?

I've seen a few reports recently that rely on this for the international transfer annotation on the transaction saying it's failed following an immediate deposit despite using the "Long term stay in Thailand" reason.

Thats why then, when you use ''Long term stay in Thailand'' its never an immediate transfer, mine usually arrive same day at 1.13 pm or 2.13 pm as i do the transfer before 8am.
