Love Vietnam. Pity they don't have a retirement visa option. Philippines does make it easy to stay long term.

Mate, With Kuala Lumpur and Manila around 3hrs or less away by air, doing a visa run every 3 months is the least of my worries.

Nice report. I am assuming these days there aren’t huge chances of a sting for being caught with a lady “not your wife” ? Used to hear it was dangerous to take a lady long-time for this reason . I think Laos is the spot where it’s more diligently enforced these days?

Vietnam, specifically Da Nang, definitely on my bucket list

I found DaNang boring although if you love Pattaya....

I am aiming for 2-3 months in Saigon before either extending or  flying less than 30hrs back to the Philippines - - with my tail between my legs.

I love Vietnam and been all over. My favourite city is Hue has everything if you are chilled and know where to look. Saigon is a bit hustly .... let your guard down for a second in a bar and bang .... but mostly fine. Bit like Jakarta which is as good as it gets.

Think Vietnamese food knocks most foods out of the ball park. Mackerel banh mi for breakfast in Saigon and Bun Hue soup in Hue then noodles in Anthony Bourdain's / Obama table in Hanoi. Wow. Thank you for the food pics Vietnamese genuine ones everywhere in London.

What's the traffic like there now mate?

I only know guys who have been years back who day t was so horrendous, they couldn't wait to get out of the place. If there an area to stay in that has everything a visitor needs that's easier to get around?

Maybe we need a "Hello from Jakarta" thread🤔

🚨 Hà Nội is currently having the third worst air pollution in the world, per IQAir ranking, continuing the streak of bad air days.
😷 With PM2.5 concentration is nearly 34 times times the World Health Organization annual PM2.5 guideline value, the air in the capital city is at the moment classified as "very unhealthy" meaning outdoors activities should be avoided and masks should be worn.
