I was perusing YT the other day and stumbled on a fairly boring video about brand loyalty. I just thought I'd ask if any BM's have a preferred brand they go to when it comes to everyday use electronics, such as TV's etc.

Personally, I've found LG and Bosch to be pretty good, my UK kitchen has LG washing machine, dishwasher and oven, my lounge an LG TV.

Most of my power tools are Bosch, with the exception of a Milwaukee "rattle gun".

I remember a mate from the 70's who's Dad would only buy Philips (He even had a Philips Videopac!!) - which was an expensive outing because iirc all that stuff was European made and perceived as being high quality.

Also, is it as important these days?. A lot of items are made in Chinese factories and merely labelled differently (or so I'm told lol). cross referencing part numbers is nothing new, certainly in the automotive industry, and I understand many parts on Fridges etc these days are generic items shared among manufacturers.

I am sold on LG for TVs when I was at secrets we had four 50 in plasma LG TVs we turned them on at 8:00 a.m. in the morning and we turn them off at 4:00 a.m. in the morning they ran for 20 hours continuously day after day the 8 years I was at secrets they never failed once. That was enough to convince me that I only buy LG TVs.

That said I needed a new computer monitor and those things are expensive I went on lazada and found a 32-in expose brand television obviously built in China for around $80 us. It had the HDMI hookups I needed the resolution is brilliant I shouldn't say this probably because then it'll break but it's going on 2 years and for that kind of money it's been a real bargain. When it does stop working I'll be buying another one. But for big screen TVs 50 inch and up I'm sold on LG

Phone, Laptop and TV are Samsung, which i stick to, especially the laptop as it's by far the best i've ever had, and not really much more expensive.

Cooker and Washing machine are Beko. Again, been using that brand for a while with no issues.

Samsung for phone and tablet, although almost went elsewhere for last phone change. Other items I'm not fussed- as long as they work and last!

I am a Samsung fan. Always had good products manufactured by them. I've always found Sony, also to be of good quality.

Never had an Apple product in my life, such as iPhone so can't really make any comparisons.  I was once bought an iPod but I lost it 2 days later before I had a chance to load anything on it.

50 inch Sony Bravia TV, Samsung for my phones and an Apple Mac Air for my laptop.

Just replaced my Beko washing machine with another Beko after 15 years of service because it started to dance across my kitchen floor during the spin cycle.

Good TVs are so cheap these days, if my Sony pack's up and I can't repair it, I would happily buy an LG or similar make.

I have to put my hand up to misreading that.

To address the post correctly, I have Bosch Fridge Freezer and Dishwasher and an AEG washing machine.

I expect like many of us, you can recall when a dishwasher in the kitchen was unheard of. Washing up duties consisted of me and my brother, "you wash, I'll wipe".

Interesting no one has mentioned "Smeg". Beko and Smeg are perceived to be pretty high end stuff, I see @boydeste has had 15 years of good service out of his, which speaks volumes in today's era of  "inbuilt obsolescence" when it comes to white goods.

Wifey and I have the following here at the house, that were all bought in the last 3 years since getting back here.

2 65 inch LG OLED TV'S, one downstairs, one upstairs in the "woman cave" In my "man cave" I have a Haier 50 inch TV.....the Haier for only 10k baht was a surprisingly great price and very decent quality.

The refrigerator is an "Electrolux" wifey seems to like this brand, the washer is an Electrolux too.

Now 2 weeks ago I just bought a new Macbook Air M4, 15 inch, 256GB laptop.....bought my Macbook Air, 13 inch back in 2010....now that I have this one....god only knows how I used the old one so long....

In the camera buys, 2 weeks ago, bought a used Canon 5d Mark IV out of MPB, New York in excellent condition...of course wifey has to weigh in on that by asking me "Do you really need another camera"?  Women.....Canon is my choice for DSLR'S.

You never know who owns what.  Being interested in home audio I recently discovered this.

HARMAN INTERNATIONAL INDUSTRIES, INC. owns:

Harman Kardon, JBL, Mark Levinson, AKG, Infinity, Bang & Olufsen, Lexicon, Revel, Becker, BSS Audio, Crown, dbx, AMX, Arcam, Soundcraft, Martin, and JBL Professional and B&W, Denon, Polk, and Marantz.

And HARMAN is a subsidiary of SAMSUNG!

"The real thing of value in those brands is the car audio.  There is millions available when you outfit a 500,000 new cars and Harman is HEAVILY invested in car audio.  ATMOS is coming and these cars will have 15, 16, 17 channels with speakers everywhere, including overhead.  The small amount of stuff B+W (was Bowers&Wilkins) sells to audio dealers is dwarfed by the automotive business."

I used to have a Marantz separates system back in the late 80’s/ early 90’s. Really good stuff.

Probably the most brand I have bought for electronics is Sony. Has lots of their products over the years. Currently have a pair of their headphones.

Marantz did some quality audio stuff back in the day, I had and still have a Pioneer separate system.

Personally Im not to fussed about white goods as they do f**k all for me!

That said, we have a Bosch dishwasher and fridge freezer. 7 years and no problems. We also have a Miele washing mashing and Miele drying machine. Workhorse and never a problem so far, touch wood!

Now, as for sound and vision, I'm admittedly a snob. I won't pay good money for shite and there's a lot of Chinese shite around.

We originally had a LG TV that was irreparable ( not my choice). Sorry LG lovers and then I was left with a bit of a quandary as I've always had Panasonic tvs in the UK. No chance of getting a Panasonic TV in Sweden so I bit the bullet and bought a 65 inch Sony Bravia along with a Samsung sound bar and bass speaker. Wasn't expecting much but was really happy with picture and sound quality. So much so that I gave my much loved hi-fi system away for free as living in a Swedish apartment with many others doesn't go together to well.

Ps. The wife has a Dewalt jackhammer supercharged vibratator with many settings!

Never a word of complaint in 17 years of knowing each other.!

Speaking of vibrators and "jackhammer supercharged", the Sybian is one of the best brands in that category. Bought one for my now ex-wife. Quite popular at lifestyle events.

Edited to add: I also remember how I ended up buying the Sybian.

I wanted to buy a riding lawn mower to cut the grass around the house. My then wife thought it too expensive and that a push mower would be fine for the job. As she had seen and experienced the Sybian at a couple of LS parties, and since the Sybian and the riding lawn mower both cost around $1200 USD, I offered to buy one for her if she green lit my purchase of the mower. That's what we call a win win. :default_biggrin:

I've had a Macbook Pro for over 10 years & we're on our 3rd iPhones,we also have an iPad each & I've got an iPod which never gets used as all my music is accessible on the phone.

When we moved into this house in 2007 the owners left us(free) a Miele washing machine & dishwasher, both have since gone tits up but we got a used Miele washing machine from a mate who deals in that sort of stuff.

Had a 42" Sony Bravia since 2007 which is still going strong upstairs, complete with Firestick.

The missus bought a 50" LG TV which went tits up fairly quickly & when I talked to a local TV shop he said the electronics are in the screen & to bin it,so I recently bought a 55" Sony Bravia OLED in an Amazon Prime sale & it's the dogs bollocks & doesn't need a Firestick as it's all built-in.

Also recently bought a Sony DVD player which is small enough to take to Thailand & back.

A very good buy was a CTEK trickle charger for my Audi when we're in Thailand,I found out the hard way that modern car batteries don't last long if not used.

Celestion used to make really good speakers as well, based in Ipswich. The old factory now a housing estate though.

I only use Sony headphones (proper ones, not ear buds), same for my daughter when she's gaming. Can't fault them.
