Looking at pictures of the PE lie-flat seats, my first thought was are you going to have to climb over the person next to you to get to the aisle, but searching around with Mr. Google I found that's not the case.

Then I'm looking at the guy of indeterminate height, scrunched up using the lie-flat seat. That led me to ask about the seat pitch. That search came up with nothing. So it's quite probable that while the seat is lie-flat, you probably won't enjoy the lie-flat experience in comfort unless you're short of stature.

...and of narrow build. Even the beds in EVA's business class aren't wide enough for this big old b*stard!

The article I read said they were the same as Air NZ were using for some of their business seats, but i believe are now being phased out. Being in a herringbone facing inwards they were always criticised for making the passenger stare in the direction of other passengers, and whilst in bed mode your feet overhung into the isle, for other passengers or cabin crew to stagger into.

They always use a small, thin model so it looks bigger than it really is. Same as why I always look for a lady with small hands. :default_biggrin:

My immediate thought (with it being THAI Airways) was that you are pointing your feet at the person serving you and at other passengers ...

The plane will be available on routes from Bangkok to Chennai, Dhaka, Hyderabad, Jakarta, Kathmandu starting on October 26, 2025

Not exactly long haul flights. 4-6 hours in the air.

They're not being sold as Premium Economy as the PE cabin still exists.  They are being sold as Premium Economy Plus although seemingly at Business Class prices.

Seat pitch is often not given for these herringbone layout seats as it's not so relevant, but the bed length is 80 inches which is typical for Business Class.  Not surprising really as that's what they've been for years!

I couldn't come up with anything that listed bed length. Where did you find the 80 inches for their new PE+?

They are Zodiac UCS3 recliners and I found this write up from when Virgin introduced them on their B787.

https://www.businesstraveller.com/news/airlines/virgin-atlantic-b787-9-upper-class-8/

@Painter is right about your feet pointing out into the aisle, with other passengers in your line of sight. At least on the port side those seats stare out to a privacy wall on the back of the center seats.

It'll be interesting to see what the price difference is between PE+ and BC. If there isn't much of a difference, it would be worth it to pay a bit extra for the privacy and space a BC product offers.

Think I'll stick to Biz or Econ.

For my money EVA and Cathay have their PE product on point, more so Cathay because EVA PE is beginning to get expensive and I don't think, with the tired Aircraft they're using, they offer fantastic VFM.

Cathay PE is more modern, updated and just more comfortable than EVA. However, neither are the bargain they used to be.

Yes, since Covid, PE has been a similar price to what Business was before covid.

Both have pretty much doubled in price.

I couldn't fly in those seats because I need to travel straight or I get travel sickness.

Even sat in Business class on the slight angle made me feel queasy until we were in the air.
