Don't know much about them, but more competition the better, IMO!

Bangkok, 28 October 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) warmly welcomed Norse Atlantic Airways’ maiden flight from London-Gatwick to Bangkok, which arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on 27 October 2025 with a Thai-style welcome ceremony. The event was joined by TAT executives and representatives from Airports of Thailand, who presented souvenirs to arriving passengers as a gesture of Thai hospitality.

The London-Gatwick–Bangkok route is part of Norse Atlantic’s winter 2025/2026 schedule, operating through to 12 April 2026 with a total of 99 flights. The airline operates two to three flights per week in October and November, increasing to four to five flights per week from December through April, using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with a 338-seat capacity.

Representing TAT at the airport welcome, Ms. Suladda Sarutilavan, Director of the TAT Europe Region, said the expansion of Norse Atlantic Airways’ services reflects the success of TAT’s Airlines Focus strategy for long-haul markets.

TAT and Norse Atlantic Airways are jointly conducting marketing and promotional campaigns from September to November 2025 to stimulate travel demand to Thailand during the winter season. Activities include social media competitions, advertising across the airline’s digital platforms, and targeted promotions on Expedia and Skyscanner. These initiatives highlight Thailand’s diverse attractions, responsible tourism practices, and Hidden Gem destinations, ensuring travellers enjoy meaningful and sustainable experiences across the country.

The route expansion and joint marketing activities support TAT’s strategic goal of attracting 1.13 million travellers from the United Kingdom to Thailand by the end of 2025, generating an estimated 70.46 billion Baht in tourism revenue. This development also follows the announcement of five new seasonal routes to Thailand by Norse Atlantic Airways for the 2025/2026 winter season, further enhancing air connectivity from Europe to Bangkok and Phuket.

The United Kingdom remains one of Thailand’s most important long-haul markets, ranking among the top ten sources of international arrivals. Between 1 January and 20 October 2025, Thailand welcomed over 805,000 visitors from the UK—an increase of 13.2 per cent year-on-year—with an average stay of 15.9 days and expenditure of approximately 63,000 Baht per trip. Forward bookings indicate continued growth of 10 per cent for the last quarter of 2025 and 13 per cent for the first quarter of 2026, reaffirming Thailand’s position as a preferred destination for British travellers.

Thailand’s popularity among British visitors is also reflected in The 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards by Condé Nast Traveller UK, where Thailand achieved high rankings across multiple categories, including top Asian islands, world-class spas, and luxury hotels. Thai islands featured among the top-ranked were Ko Lanta, Ko Chang, Phuket, and Ko Samui.

From the United Kingdom, Norse Atlantic will operate between London Gatwick and Bangkok from 26 October 2025, with three to five weekly flights. The route, also served by British Airways and upgraded to a year-round service from April 2026, will now offer travellers a more economical alternative. The Manchester–Bangkok service will commence on 26 November 2025, operating weekly through March 2026. Manchester will become the only UK airport outside London with direct flights to Bangkok. Norse Atlantic reported that more than 100,000 passengers travel indirectly between Manchester and Bangkok each year, and the new route aims to meet this growing long-haul market segment.

The more competition for non stop flights the better.

Get them prices down a tad.

He said it was excellent, had champagne & an empty seat next to him.

I am considering the Economy Class flight option with luggage, seat selection and buy my own wine.

I once calculated that the price of the wine is about the same as paying 25 quid a bottle .. the same as a hotel restaurant (which is what an airplane is! ).. and I get to drink it when I want. More than once the purser has closed the bar before mid flight which is when the urge hits me !!

In recent news:

Norse Atlantic has filed for receivership due to having the entire wine stock consumed by one passenger on the LHR-BKK route.

A spokesman for Norse Atlantic said:

"I've never seen anything like it, he was drinking faster than we could pour. Our Chateau Latife du plonk was drained faster than the fuel rate for the aircraft, and we had 2 wings full of Avgas- I've no idea where we go from here".

The individual responsible is being approached by "Mont Claire" as they want to know if their biggest shareholder arrived safely.

On the return leg to BKK he also purchased the Fleet's supply of Bum Bum cream, only saying  "It's for a friend"

Apparently his particular interest is in its "Tightening" properties ....

During the flight all he ate was copious amounts of our delightful butter chicken ..."Served Warm" 🤢
