Like yourself, I come in with minimum 6K THB on me in cash "just in case", I've stopped exchanging cash at the airport ever since the rate there became crap (Don Muang was always a better rate than in Pattaya, for some reason when it all went to Suvarnhabumi , the airport rate has been traditionally much worse). 1
KWA Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 The rules say you must have 20,000 THB (40,000 THB for a family) and if you can't show that they're entitled to refuse you entry. I've only ever heard of it being used as a reason when there were underlying doubts about you that concerned the IO and they would pull this out of the hat as an official reason to put in your passport. 2
fforest Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 The real question here is why are you rotting your brain with TicTok?...... I haven't heard anyone bring up the old 99.99% never-enforced money check at immigration in ages... 1

He also contacted me about how to get a manager's job. I sent him over to windmill and he worked there for a while. They offered to help him get a work permit and a business Visa but I told him once you've got an established retirement Visa you probably should hang on to it unless you absolutely need to work. Had a drink with him seemed like a nice enough guy 1

Agreed, seemed like a nice enough chap, very friendly when we bumped into eachother and as a neighbour, silent. 1 1

Glasseye Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 (edited) Asking someone to prove they have $250 cash on them after they've spent Dog knows what on plane fare has got to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard of. But.... it doesn't surprise me. Edited November 9, 2025 by Glasseye
