After seeing many videos on Instagram about what young people think is old ....

LOADS of young people think anyone born before 2000 is OLD....

And anyone born before 1990 their ancient ...

I was kind of shocked when I realized the young people were not joking.....

I bet I have seen about 30-40 videos now about this by now...They talk about the 1980s like it was a million years ago....lol

The modern kid has no sense of reality.

Why on earth do you need to watch 40 videos all saying the same thing ... 555 🤷‍♂️

it's all relative.. when I was 18 someone in their 30's was old ... now I'm in my 50's someone in their 70's is old .. it's really not that difficult to understand ... 😜

1980 was 46 years ago ... WW2 was closer to 1980 than today is ...

I am not looking for these videos....They just pop up on Instagram sometimes, like the one above...

Instagram is like a box of chocolates you never know what the next video short will be about...

This is something that intrigues me greatly. I spent several year working in an expat community where people are more or less ageless. Since returning to the UK, I have been made to feel like a person who spends their whole life counting the juvenile stones bouncing off their bungalow windows. I've only been away five years. Is late 40s the new George Burns chic?

In the West, well UK at least, kids aren't in a hurry or under pressure to grow up and mature as much as they used to be. Education to 18 is mandatory, when in the 70's and 80's leaving school at 16 or in some cases earlier was more commonplace. Getting a job and earning your keep was more of a priority, and Uni / College / Polytechnic for the lucky few.

Nowadays, kids see insta and FB kids their own age becoming millionaires, there's no sense of urgency, no sense of reality (as mentioned) and not much sense of responsibility.

When I was at school, we were reading about WW1 and learned that many officers and soldiers who were in their mid 20's were seen as "old boys" back then.

Nothing new.

I am sure that when you were a teenager, you would also think someone aged 50+ was old.

I remember  the Hippie slogan: Never trust anybody over 30
