A Frontier Airlines A321, Flight 4345, struck and killed a pedestrian on Runway 17L at Denver Airport last night during its takeoff roll. The individual had just scaled the perimeter fence and run onto the active runway. The person was struck approximately two minutes later near the midfield area—far from the terminal—along the outer perimeter stretch.

The flight crew aborted the takeoff near V1. A brief engine fire occurred due to foreign object ingestion, followed by smoke in the cabin. Everyone was safely evacuated via emergency slides, and 12 minor injuries were reported.

Authorities state that this was a deliberate intrusion. This tragic incident raises serious safety concerns. The NTSB and FAA are investigating.

Here is the condition of the engine afterward

Very sad if that was a pure suicide attempt. Lots of ways to kill yourself without putting others at risk.

Bloody horrific. Instant death I'd imagine.

My thoughts are with the maintenance crew who have to clear that lot up.

And the group of passengers that were standing next to that engine after evacuating the plane. Saw video of them milling about and even in the low light of the video it was obvious it was the damaged engine they were in front of. What has been seen cannot be unseen.
