forcebwithu Posted May 28 Posted May 28 A BM on PA started a topic asking about trekking/hiking around Pattaya and thought that would make for a good topic on 247. If anyone is interested in a relatively shaded and flat area for trekking, the area around Spermy's Lake is a good choice. We had a good 9km walk in the area on yesterday's walkabout. On a side note: Spermy's Lake is a decent sized reservoir that serves as a refreshing swimming hole after a walk in the area. We named the lake after the hasher, Sperm Polluter, that first "discovered" the lake and used it as an A-Site for a hash run. Since it was an unnamed body of water at the time on Google Maps, we submitted a map edit request to name the lake, and surprisingly Google accepted the map edit. This link will take you to a Google Map another friend put together of all the trails in the KMK area. Very useful to have on your phone to keep you from getting lost out there 4 2
forcebwithu Posted May 28 Author Posted May 28 (edited) If you're interested in more challenging terrain with lots of elevation gain, the Khao Mai Keao area marked is the place to go. Here's a link to a site that details the different walking trails with pictures. It's a beautiful area with many scenic overlooks. It's quite popular on the weekends with many locals as well as westerners out there walking the trails. And for elevation gain it has a hill a friend named "Fck Me Mtn". After you finish the steep climb to the top you'll agree it's appropriately named, but the view from the top makes it worth it. Very few "green" areas and safe/enjoyable routes for walking.

Depends on your definition of young. There's a 78 yo hasher, 9 years older than me, that regularly completes trails that I drop out at the water stop. We had a Monkey H3 run in January that went past Fck Me Mtn. I was knackered by the water stop at 8.8 km while my 78 yo friend kept on going to complete the full 16.6 km trail. Pics don't do a good job of showing just how steep the climb up is. Only the fittest do it without stopping a few times to rest. Adding to the difficulty of the steepness of the trail is the rocky unstable ground you have to walk on. Many sections are nothing more than dry, steep river gullies carved out by rain runoff. Another hash friend that runs quite a bit in the area for fun gave the mtn top the name Fck Me Mtn years ago. He also named quite a few of the trails in KMK and put up laminated signs along the trails. There's quite a few trails in KMK that you can use to avoid the high elevation gains. They're well shaded and easy trails to walk which also makes the area very popular for walkers on the weekends. 2 2
