Cashless in Bangkok and Hua Hin

I've been wanting to do this for a while figured this was a good time. I spent four nights in Bangkok and four nights in Hua Hin. Previous trips I've always paid predominantly cash for everything but occasionally I would use my scan to pay either Bangkok Bank or K bank app. While I took enough cash to cover anything I would want to buy. I wanted to attempt to pay for this whole trip with those bank scans along with my true money app as well. It went flawlessly it seems that cash really is on the way out. 

 

Didn't think I'd live long enough to see this 5 years ago I would have said it's not something I would like. It really makes life easy it's faster don't have to worry about carrying a lot of cash. Every place I purchase something accepted this I used literally no cash. Even the smallest of vendors on the street are now accepting QR payments. I took a girl from Thermae she was happy to be paid with scan to her account as well. Just wondering how much easier it can be made. Whenever something happens to make life a bit easier a few years later they come along with something even better. Guessing I won't see the next big change as I'll be resting peacefully taking a dirt nap 😊

The key is having your QR app open before getting to the check out.

 

As more people learn to do this I think the timeliness factor will improve. Many a time I have been in a line when people are fumbling with their phones and waiting for their app to open.

If you stayed at your usual place in HH, did she accept cashless too?

I’m quite comfortable with paying via an app on my phone my, although my wife uses any and she’s pretty much cash. I will download the True app and use that as I’ve been caught out a few times at 7 as they don’t accept the K Bank scan.
