I have a night flight going home and just after some information on where I can buy some over the counter sleeping pills. From memory I struggled to find a place selling them last time I wanted some.

If I can suggest an alternative and the reason why if you cant find exactly what you need

Go into pharmacy and ask for Amitriptyline (or its generic variant ).....Its actually an antidepressant but has the impact of when someone takes it for the first couple times it makes them very sleepy until the body gets used to it. Its ideal for the odd occasion of flying

Still works for me. 50mg will do the job

(edited....you wont need a prescription in Thailand)

I just buy a small strip of Valium or equivalent from the guys who sell the ED drugs on the street - I used to get it from a pharmacy but that particular location is no longer open.

I scored some clonazepam at this pharmacy a while back - I think B400 for a strip of 10. It's quite long acting though but you'll only need half a tab.

I've mentioned this before but i've had a couple of cases of an ancient Thai warrior hovering over me in my sleep, i kick out which does work but fairly alarming for the wife. 

Same happened on my flight back from the UK, unfortunately a BA flight attendent on a return flight took a bit of a glancing blow and screamed. Luckily she understood the emergency, but not something i want to repeat.

Mind you not as bad as your dick in hand experience.

Groggy fcuk that tablet shite. Lots of red wine and then port lots of it.

Eye shade, ear plugs and a good J Arthur Rank just before boarding to reduce the stress. 😇

The idea of trying to follow complex emergency instructions from a flight crew while an airplane is floating in the drink and I'm groggy from tranquillizers does NOT appeal.  I'll sleep when I get there.

Dramamine, 70 THB from any pharma. Kicks the sickness out as well.

Failing that, the Pharma on Bukhao just down from Annie Jacks will sell you Xanax (or used to).

Melatonin 5mg will also send you off.

* For some reason this story brought back an odd memory....

The first time I travelled out of the country was back in the 90's. Used to go to Costa Rica as my best mate from college had moved down there.

At the time I was staying in this little place in the Central area. The room was hot (I believe it was a fan room, or it had shitty A/C.... can't remember). The first night I could hear gunshots nearby (ffs I thought). 

Anyway.... I did not sleep with a cover over me. I finally fell asleep until I woke up flat on my back on the floor next to the bed. The nightmare I was having was so bad that I had a full body spasm that caused me to go up and sideways out of the bed and land flat as a pancake onto the floor. No pain or injury whatsoever. Just took me a while to figure out where I was and what the fcuk had happened.

I have been hooked on travelling ever since......   555555

lol I can assure you that if an engine loses a fan blade (contained) with an engine in the middle of the night as I had on an Uzbebistan flight in the early 90's that you'll be wide awake shouting like fvck like everyone else in an instant

I'd had 30mg of Diazapam on that sector and was wide awake like everyone else !!   Not an experience I want to encounter again. Noise was horrendous from the engine

The fact the cabin oxygen masks deployed obviously frightened many understandably as well. That was precautionary as it turned out

Yep.... Been through quite a few strips of those over the years.

I don't take them anymore as I am trying to go with zero meds (except Tylenol). 

 

No doubt that booze is bad for the gut, but meds of many kinds can do a number on you as well.

Acetaminophen/paracetamol is a liver toxin, best steered far away from if alcohol is also in the picture.

Unfortunately that pharmacy is no longer there. Its very difficult to purchase sleeping and anti represent drugs over the counter these days. 

The alternative is to visit places like the clinic im Soi Buakhoa. No questions asked but a prescription charge added on to the cost. Thus making it legal. 

Of course it works out more expensive and almost double the price.

To be fair, taking any painkillers whilst drinking heavy is not trendy for the liver methinks.

Generally Paracetamol is one of the most common recommended at normal doses. Hence being non prescription.
