It was a good early evening and by about 10 pm plenty of customers. Scooters apparently did a lot of promotion on social media.

Most of the staff were new. More starting during this week so I am told. A few familiar faces behind the bar.

However , absolutely no reflection on the Bar at all but I went up to my room after Spurs scored their second goal as I could not take any more of watching the rest of the game in company.  With regard to Arsenal/Spuds derby matches I am a very, very bad loser.

By the time I fired up my lap top not only had the second half started but I missed the Gooners goal just before half time. The rest of the second half was totally dominated by Arsenal and I was worn out and ultimately frustrated by the end. :default_biggrin:

A rumour often spoken - yet no one seems to know what social media promoting they do having never seen it.

Anyone know what new bar hours are? Secrets previously being pretty much open 24 hours.

  2. There’s a chance I could call in only to be nosey really. Still even from outside but of a weird 1. Didn’t look like a build up to big re- opening. No 1 around other than staff doing balloons, only notice of party is 1 A4 piece of paper on hotel door.

  3. Bar’s not closed due to labour department- more to do with shortening the sign.

Not sure how instant these things are but what happens with labour department will be interesting. If there’s no cash - maybe the staff are given the lease?

Thailand actually has some pretty strong labour laws, it’s not just a few months back pay due. A lot of redundancy is due for people with contracts and long term service.

My prediction will be Paul will give the landlady back the keys and fold company in debt. So all lights off completely very suddenly as no 1 left to pay the bills. Hotel at 100% occupancy won’t cover the bills.

Its been on lifesupport for years now- in the current pattaya scene you would need deep pockets, huge optimism and a miracle.

World moves on - 10years survival seems to be a miracle in Pattaya anyway.

did they all go or not go ?
Some did but they got spun another story about him turning up at 11 tonight.  she is going at 11 to see if he shows up
bet theres a great atmosphere there
    Yeah....

Paul didn't show up but somehow they have been promised to be paid in the 25th (yeah right!). No other news
oh FFS...the smell of bullshit is overpowering now
    Yeah
Anyway they aren't going back so not going to lose anything more.
    how many have quit ?
    Dunno. At least  4

    Update from just now.

Just spoke to her. He did go but hid in the office at the hotel and didn't face the staff. The staff got relayed the message by the thai manager. He also said that anyone who was taking a break or went to work elsewhere could not come back because they "didn't support him" or words to that effect. He obviously doesn't realise most of these girls work month to month for their money, and don't have cash reserves.

That's exactly how I heard it went.

  5. Word from staff is- some have been paid bits- some have been told they will be getting paid 2 months in arrears so already owed a months wages, so working for free.

Bars been dead for maybe 3 years now- it would take a genius to turn it around. Paul and James couldn't get out of their quick enough when they realised their mistake.

  6. Here’s where you get real value in thailand. All from the market-
Fresh garlic, ginger, chilli, lime, honey, pepper, tomato and soy sauce marinade.
    1/2 kilo of fresh prawns.

At under £3! With loads of fresh spices left over.

It get better all left over sauce and spices from the pan is currently marinating some pork fillet.

Yes, but that means somebody in charge to point out those small things. It is a continous repeating..

Had dinner again at my regular french.place here yesterday, and half through the starter the waitress comes up with the main... First time it happens.

I explain her, ok, back to the kitchen. When I mention it to the french boss, he goes "Merde, every, every day I remind them but still now and then for no reason they do it again" ...

I like to relax between courses, nothing worse than being rushed.

If you were in a rush you would of told the waiter. I guess there's a bit of a cultural thing at play too- they don't really get concept of starter then main course.
