  1. Hi guys,

I v=currently lie in Ban Chang and my wife wants to visit Hua Hin. She has said that there is a car ferry from sattahip but I can find no trace of this on-line. Does anyone know whether such a ferry exists? I know there is a ferry from Pattaya. Does this still run? If so, is it a car ferry or passengers only? If it is passengers only, does it have easy wheelchair access? Due to a stroke, I am confined to a wheelchair. This plus arthritis in my knees makes a journey by road difficult.

    Thanks,

    Alan

  2. As I am confined to a wheelchair , My wife went to Immigration (rayong) for me yesterday to extend my "visa" I had gone with her to the bank for the letter confirming my bank balance and so on. It seems that their is a new  regulation regarding how long money has to be in the bank for. She didn't really know what the rule change was. As a result, we hsad to go back to the bank today, Apparently we now have to wait about 5 days to get a new letter. Anyone know what is happening? Apologies if this has been answered before but I don't look at the forum frequently due to being disabled.

    Thanks.

  3. Hi guys,

Are there any farang nursing homes ( with farang food in the Chonburi/Rayong areas? An indication of the basic cost would be helpful. I would need a private room with 24/7 nursing care due to a stroke,

    Thanks,

There is a headline in today's newspaper:

"92 Week wait  for NHS (Scotland) Eye Operation."

It is referring specifically to cataract operations.

I had mine done in Rayong. As I was having some minor problems went to a clinic in Rayong and had laser treatment on both eyes  within half an hour. Now, no longer need glasses at all after wearing them for 50 + years

I am not 100% sure but my understanding is that hotel quarantine is only required following entry to UK from a country on the red list, which Thailand no longer is.  My understanding is that Noi would be required to do 10 days self isolation at home.

Thanks, I had forgotten that. Only problem is that  we would be living in Scotland where the laws are different  - e.g. at present masks MUST be worn on public transport and maybe in shops.

I can feel a plane ride comming on in the not too distant future!

From memory I think you said mid to late October for your return.

Bangkok Pattaya said October for Moderna now pushed back to November? Friends told me about registering for Phizer in Rayong so I booked and got my 2nd jab  about 10 days ago. Due to a stroke I need a medically accompanied flight home on a scheduled flight but can't stay with my brother as there are too many stairs in his house. Also Noi got the Chinese vaccine and Dear Boris doesn't recognise it so she would have to isolate in a ludicrously expensive hotel for 10 days. Not sure whether I can isolate with her at no extra cost - apart from food and drink! I suspect not somehow. Yet covid numbers are coming down in Thailand while they are going through the roof in the UK!I don't know who to believe more  - the Thai government or Boris. Probably not much in it?

My return home is likely to be 2024 or 2025 at the earliest as when Noi applies for indefinite leave to remain, she will be 65 and exempt from all the tests. This assumes the NHS is providing a decent service by then!

I have very mixed feelings about this.

Whilst I applaud anything done to stop misinformation (which is often often disinformation) being spread, I am concerned about who will decide what is and what is not misinformation. We are really not very far away from the media (incl. big tech) determining what we should think.

1984 is back again with Faux News leading the way😬
