  1. Went to the Triangle bar thought I'd try it out. Had a place mat that said All beer and spirits two for one. I asked the waitress (always looking for the scam) does that mean two drinks for the price of one. She said yes. I got the first drink and looked at the bin and the price was for two drinks. When I queried it they said that's right you get the one price for two drinks. Nice scam. First and last time I will go to the Triangle bar. Spoke to a guy on the way out and he got caught with the same thing. Said he was leaving after he finished the drink so two potential regulars that they lost. Not that they will care.

I fully agree with you there Mr. withu.

I had a couple of days in Pattaya last week and took a walk around Treetown on the look for a fresh victim, along the front of Treetown ( the Soi Boukhow side ) most all the bars / Cafes were busy, along the left side heading down to Skaw Beach the bars etc were also doing business. But when i walked along the rear roadway There were virtually no customers at all, plenty of girls but  even their calls of Handsome man / one drink please etc were pretty much inaudible because of the battering one's ears were taking from the OTT volume from the various bars / bands. The Matador bar had the usual band playing at a zillion decibels and most all the other bars were trying their best to compete with them. It's bloody madness and i can't fathom out why the bar managers can't see what the problem is causing the lack of customers  ???

Needless to say i did not give any of the bars there my custom and was glad when i left the area and returned to Boukhow.

A suitable visitim was found in Soi Chiayaphum who done a most admiral job in making an old chap happy......

Me too I often go with a mate for a few drinks and a yak and that last thing we want is to be yelling at each other. I have never been able to understand wht they do it other than the Thai staff like it like that.

I have been married for many years but still stray occasionally.

About 6 weeks ago in Soi 6 for an ST with an absolute stunner,400b fo the room(upstairs) & 1200b for the girl.

I did buy her a drink but can't remember how much it was but I do remember getting change from 2k fo the lot.

I also gave her 100b tip as she was also an excellent player of the pink oboe.

I suppose 2k is ok. i take it there was no BF because you went upstairs. Is there an equivalent of Thermae, Bangkok in Pattaya? I've certainly been in there for a couple of quick cheap drinks and an optic nerve. I've seen some real stunners in there and you are definitely spoiled for choice, although I havent tried the take away personally, but sure looked finger lickin' good though.

I drove to conservatively once coming back from a happy Mondays gig in Glasgow, tractors were overtaking me.

I learnt my lesson driving on weed early. When i was around 20 a friend offered to share a joint but i told him i had to drive. He told me it would be ok as it was very mild. Anyway about 30 minutes later Im driving down Nepean hwy in melbourne in first gear wondering why the motor was over revving. I had to detour to a friends house and crash on the couch for about four hours. I then had to go and do a job for work. I was still stoned on the job  and had to go back the next day to finish it. I never did that again.

The irony of the story was my boss knew I had an occasional joint on the weekend and had asked me not to do it near his son as he was easily influenced and he didnt want him taking drugs. Guess who my supplier was?

  5. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I would like others opinion. Having been a long retired monger due to the ravages of age and a good woman that gives me no need to stray, I have oft wondered the attraction of bar girls. Being still an occasional barfly who can enjoy the banter with the girls and as much as I can enjoy their company within the confines of the bar and if they are funny and entertaining I am happy to ply them with a few lady drinks for their trouble, but that is the end of it for me. IMO many are pretty average looking. Many are well tattoed but I accept what is a turn off for me maybe a turn on for others. I often see on Thai forums the cost of bar fines ST/LT, lady drinks etc.

Being a frustrated retired engineer in costing projects It peaked my interest as to what a bar girl short time would cost all up. Having no current experience in this field, the following would be my estimate. Now this is predicated on someone, not a cheap Charlie but not overly generous either, intent on some drinking entertainment finishing with a happy ending. So would the following be unreasonable on a night of a bit of mongering entertainment?

    5 X lady drinks say 750 baht. Bar fine 1500 baht S/T 1500 baht. Total 3750 baht.

Now I just had a quick look at Smooci escorts and picked a lady at random that IMO had a nice body and was quite attractive and looked better than most bar girls I've seen and the price was the same (3750) for two hours. What am I missing here?

In my youth it was the thrill of the hunt. Buying it removes that thrill either way, be it escort or bar girl. Is it just easier after a bellyful of alcohol to top it off with someone available, or the belief you've got to "know" her after buying her a few drinks? Or is it a drunken delusion that they would go back with you anyway after dazzling them with a few lady drinks and your amazing patter? The "bar fine" is just to get them released from their job temporarily and S/T money is just secondary, more like paying them to leave after your thirst for a little horizontal rhumba has been filled and your interest factor in them has now dropped to zero. Or have you deluded yourself (probably fatally) into thinking there was more there than a monetary transaction and this could be the future love of your life, whereas the Smooci escort you have to consciously pay for sex. There is no delusion of attraction. To me there is no right or wrong answer, I am just curious to others take on this.

  6. I remember in 2019 looking for a bar with a friend of mine in Pattaya. It was low season and many bars had few customers. We walked dow soi 6 and ended up at the corner bar. We had one drink at a few others but left when our ears started to bleed from the music. I often wondered why so many bars had blaring music. Maybe I'mjust getting old but Ilike one where a mate and I can hear each other.

If there is some barriers and police standing around at any place like walking street, then to enter it might be compulsory to take an ATK test. If that happens and you agree, then you have to pay for the ATK test.  And if you test positive, you will be taken to the nearest private hospital for a PCR test to confirm and if positive for 'treatment' (at your cost). All for 'public health' reasons of course. Given most Omicron infections are asymptomatic, I suggest anyone being asked to test before entering, politely declines and walks away. Maybe try the other end or a side entrance. Almost 30,000 official cases a day now (obviously a lot more really) - Omicron is rampant in Thailand and will be for a while.

There were 24,000 cases in Australia today with about a third of the population of Thailand so maybe Thaialnd is not so bad relatively speaking.

I'm not sure if you're just joking or if this is the actual name of a group? Regardless if they are/were or not, thanks for the hearty laugh at nearly 2 am in the bloody morning.

What a great name for a band!

Just my attempt at humour. It was an in joke with mates when I was in my 20s.

  10. This is too hard there are many but from my own taste

    Pink Floyd (Time)

    Stones (Paint it Black)

    Eagles (Hotel California)

But how to leave out Queen,  U2, Doors, Dire straits, Beetles, Who, ELO, AC/DC, Easybeats, Fleetwood Mac, Cream. Buster hymen and the penetrators, the list is endless.

  11. I have never been in a BJ bar. Or at least if I was I didnt know it. I mainly inhabit the sports bars when in Pats. I think lady Cow may get her udders in a twist if I said,"Hang on love I'm just going in to get a quick BJ." Also great thread boys. Some good info. I just hope it gets back to normal by the time I get back there. Hopefully this year.

  12. I've often wondered how many of the bars in Pattaya are intentionally "hobby bars," that have been purchased or set up to fulfill  their retired owners dream of owning a bar in Patts. More interested in the lifestyle as they perceive it rather than making a profit, with break even the goal. If so I wonder how many have been successful.

Myself and two Thai tragic friends have mused over doing this. All have bar/catering experience, one with years of experience in Thailand, not that that will prevent you going broke especially there. We all have sufficient spare funds to throw on a project and walk away if it fails which IMHO you need to be able to do in LOS.

  13. I'm quite disgusted with some of those lewd suggestions about the goings on around the island bars. I'll be there  as soon as the planes are up and running. Just so that I can register my disgust with one or two or maybe three of the girls of course.

I stayed there - Livingstone's - a few times. After getting a place, used to drink in the 'sports' bar & eat at the restaurant. Nice setting around the pool.

Soi 33 had some good bars and pretty women for a time.

Stayed there myself. The rooms were good the breakfast by the pool was good. Back when Soi 33 had some good bars. I use to frequent Dagars in the 90s. It was a good friendly bar back then. Use to go to Renoirs on occasion too. I thought it had atmosphere. Sad to see the end of all of those bars. I Still like the beergarden in soi 7 and Check in 99 R.I.P.

It is very easy to forget just how bad things were in Pattaya before anyone had ever heard of Covid.

High season, what there was of it, had become a week or so either side of Xmas/New Year and forums were full of comments about many bars/GoGo's being empty of customers. Pre-Covid there were already simply far too many entertainment venues all chasing after an ever diminishing number of "western" visitors. No reason to believe that will ever change. Well not for the better.

One can only hope that there will be a time when Thailand, and therefore Pattaya, opens up again without all the administration hassles that exist right now. No doubt only to fully vaccinated visitors.

Will the numbers return to the days of yesteryear?

Very doubtful as maybe mass tourism as we once knew it has gone for ever?

Unless you are Chinese who will take over "New Walking Street" rebuilt as a family destination?

Or maybe the elephant in the room is whether or not Thailand can accept the fact that "Covid" is here for ever just as influenza is here for ever.

    Anyone's guess really.

I am just glad I started "man behaving very badly" trips back in 2003. :default_dirol:

It certainly was declining. I was last there in 2019. Walked the length of Soi 6 there was barely anyone in most bars. one or two at most. It was late afternoon but even so quiet for that time. Had a drink in Scooters where there was about 4 others but most bars had one or two customes at most and quit a few with none. The only one with decent patronage was the corner bar. The guy who had the bar next door to corner bar told me he had 3 bars in Soi six all doing well but it seemed a stretch at what I'd obseved. That night I went to Soi Diamond but again very few customers. and some bars closed The same with that complex of about 10 small bars beachside of walking street. But to be fair it was not in high season which seems to have shortened each year for the past few years as Jambo pointed out.
