I might well be mistaken but I think I recall reading a while ago that it is to be a multi-storey car park.

They are going to actually do something about parking??????   Shocking.  Infrastructure development isn't something we usually see.

    Just keeps on getting better.

Depends on point of view.  I WAS at a Vikings party.  Party broke up early in the 2nd half.  LOL

    LOL.

What will start happening now is the robbers will just shoot up the place before they (store owners) even have a time to react.

Saw in the news recently a report on a gold shop robbery conducted by several masked men on motorbikes. Can't remember where it was. The store owner shot and killed (I believe) one of the robbers as they were fleeing.

I have no idea what the authorities will do on that case. But, the store owner may find himself in a world of trouble as when someone is "fleeing" and poses no direct threat it is not considered as "self defense". The owner could end up getting royally f***d.

Place is going to start looking like the P.I. before you know it. Shot gun carrying mopes on every other door step. f**k that !

Here in the USA if you shoot them while they are running away and no longer represent a threat to you it is murder.  No idea if they have that issue in Thailand.  IMO it is a good law if it's some kid burgled your home and is running away with your laptop.  Don't shoot.  But in the case of an organized group of criminals using guns I have no sympathy for any one of them getting shot even in the back.

  4. Curious about PSC membership.  I know in the old days it was used to get discounts at a lot of golf courses.  Seems the last few years it really hasn't been asked for.  Discounts seem to be negotiated by the organizers of various golf outings and if you are part of that you get the discount.

My membership has come due and I am not inclined to renew.  Any opinions?

  5. I'd go if it was 30 miles from home.  Yes, the US team is favored but the level of talent there and camaraderie will be awesome.  And I do remember Weir.  I used to have discussions with the Euros about how he SHOULD have been on the US Ryder cup team.  I mean it wouldn't have taken more than a long weekend to invade and take Canada and then he would have qualified.  😂

Best news of all Packers lose again :default_party-smiley-048:

I live in Arizona in a retirement golf community.  The percentage of people moved here from Minnesota is unreal.  So I am surrounded by Vikings fans who enjoy every Packers loss.

Not all together true. The budweiser concessions have been moved out of the stadiums but are still allowed to sell their shit product outside.

Beer is still available for the posh folks in hospitality boxes.

Typical reporting.  Made it sound like NO drinking in Qatar at all.  Our media sucks.

And hey, what's wrong with budweiser?  It's the KING of beers.  😜

Shit.  I wanted them to get snowed in.  My opponent in fantasy football this week as Josh Allen.  I have Nick Chubb.  I think Nick can do better in a slog than Allen.  Oh well.

Interesting. Some of us in here were recently discussing the old Haven spot.

I'm kind of curious If Sandy Springs will be expanding there, or not.

Sad part is they drove out the owner of the Haven years ago and then let it sit empty all this time.  Maybe the market changed or financing for the expansion fell thru.

  10. I'm fine with the Jags tearing it up as my backup QB is Lawrence.  But I really need a big game out of Sutton today so please a shoot out and 2 TDs for Sutton.  🤣

  11. Unless it was someone you knew personally you have to put it aside.  I mean even on days when there isn't a news report that catches your eye there is violence and evil i the world.  Letting something like this effect you isn't worth it.

It's rare to for me to see any snakes while out on jungle trail, but today while setting trail I climbed out of ravine to see a black cobra at the edge of a cassava field I was about to go into. Usually they see me, I see them, and they slither away. But not this one. Think his startle reflex kicked in as he reared up with his hood and fangs out and stayed that way while I very, very slowly backed away. After about a minute he slithered away, but paused to look back just before disappearing into the underbrush.

Not my picture, but one off the internet that is about the size of the once I encountered.

So was that pair of underwear cleanable?  😜

You can't blame any of the batters if the balls are live they have no control over that. And even if bonds did and of course he did use Peds you still have to hit the ball that's being pitched to you at some times 100 miles an hour and you've got to hit it just right it doesn't matter how strong you are in my opinion. And you've got a picture that's throwing it to you doing his best so you can't. anyway you still got to hit it just right. I'm not a fan of Barry Bonds and I'm not defending him it's just my thoughts.

Yeah I am no fan of his either.  But he accomplished so much not having him in the HOF is a travesty and shows the voters are more interested in a popularity contest or in signalling virtue "look at me I don't vote PED users".   Heck, anyone that feels no PED users belong in the HOF need to adjust their thinking.  NO ONE from 1980 to 2010 belongs in then.  We will never know how prevalent the use was but it was wide and deep. And yes, if PEDs were THAT much of an aide why didn't everyone hit 700 HRs?  Because as you point out there is still something called talent.  And he was the best of his generation.

Vote him in.  And at his little shrine point out all the numbers of that era are inflated compared to many other eras due to PED usage.  Simple.  And done.

I think the accomplishments Pujois has made this year are amazing.

As you can see I am a Cubs fan, but I also like the Cardinals and follow them closely (have since I was a kid).

I never have given any thought really on the notion he may or may not return next year. In fact this is the first time I have even heard it mentioned. In my mind any discussion of it from the press (or whoever) would be a real distraction.

Really is something incredible when looking at baseball history. I mean the guy is in the gears with Aaron and Ruth. Can't get much better than that. And a real delight to see that he was able to follow through like he did with the Cardinals. And that the Cardinals gave him the opportunity.

Big win win win win for Pujois, the Cardinals team, the Cardinals fan base, and for MLB.

I am out the door in minutes to watch the Cubs Arizona Fall league affiliate play against the Cardinals affiliate.  I am going with a close friend who is a Cubs fan.  Unlike some sports, baseball rivalries don't have to contain hate.  Just good competition.

  15. Have been away for some time but I approve of this thread.  I too like to dine on the higher end on occasion.  I confess I am unwilling to travel far from central Pattaya to get it though so my selections may be limited for others.  And really for higher end european dining I find it cheaper in Pattaya than in the USA.  So despite beiung much higher than street food which I also enjoy, it's worth it.  I only limit it to control my weight and health.

OK, on to my favorites last time I was there in March.

Bistro - Soi 13/1 also known as Soi Yamato.  Smallish place owned by a Swiss that is many times packed out so don't be shocked if you arrive and no tables.  They do take reservations.  Pretty much everything is good and the chocolate mousse is killer.  Zero calories.  (OK I'm bullshitting on that last part)

    Here is a facebook link - https://www.facebook.com/weberpesche/?fref=ts

Beefeater - in the mall corner of Second Road and Soi Diana.  Always a quality meal and good service.  Like Bistro despite being larger many times booked solid.  Good idea to book a table.

    https://www.beefeaterpattaya.com/

Patricks Belgian - across the mall from Beefeaters.  And really not a step down in quality.

    Good idea for a thread

  16. Tow months agi I would have said there is no way Pujols could reach 762.  His body is failing.  This latest hot streak won't continue into next year at age 43.  His recent success versus RHP is just a streak.  BTW, I grew up in STL area and am a massive Cardinals fan saying this.

But I'm not saying it.  This year he has so massively surpassed what I thought he would do in the field I give up predicting what he could still achieve.  But I do not believe he will return.

Couple of reasons.  He and Yadi going out together and this victory lap around the league (and away stadiums were very appreciative of the tour) would be cheapened if he returned.  And if he did fizzle and the Cards had a poor year he would be retiring on a down note.  lastly, he himself has repeatedly said he is DONE.  He said it before he reached 700 HRs.

This is it.  Today will be his last ever regular season game.  As  a Cards fan I hope he gets to win at least 13 more post season games and hoist a trophy after winning the last game of the MLB season.

  17. I agree they should not use aluminum bats in college.  Not sure why they do?  I mean are wood bats so expensive they can't afford the fact they break on occasion?  Never got that.

On golf I know I've always played forged clubs for feel.  But I like the cavity for forgiveness.  I play PXG 0311s now and think they are the best clubs I ever had.

Yes wood, sweet spot is about 6 inches from the end. Americans are huge on all college sports, and allow aluminum bats, and every student player uses one. Never agreed with this, as if you are indeed lucky and talented enough to reach the professional ranks, why use what will be disallowed later on? I played from 6-17 years old, and had a few wooden bats, French kids I played with thought I was nuts. No doubt the metal ones go further…..but it’s similar to a golfer who uses blade irons vs. cavity backs - we all know what yields more distance, but the feeling of the “inferior tool” cannot be beat

I think the current forged cavity back clubs can give the same feel as the old blades.  Not the workability but feel is there.  And of course you don't HAVE to hit the sweet spot to make the ball go with the newer stuff.
