  1. I fly  SQ all the time ,until covid it, as I live here.Made a mistake of flying BA once.Shower of shite.

They are  using the A350 now for London. I flew to London just before COVID hit .For business class the seat is huge width wise. However when you make it into the bed the foot area is tiny and at an angle. Very weird and not so comfortable. Your flat but not straight .

Overall still the best airline by miles.Changi airport also fantastic. Im going to london in a few weeks ,looking forward to getting on a plane again.

    Enjoy your flight with SQ

  2. Changi airport was busy last weekend as things finally start to open up here .Wife and eldest son went back to Thailand. Seems the airlines/ airport  havent  reinstated all the checkin staff yet. Business class still had a queue. Was going to use  the stupid auto machine checkin, but then you have to still queue to drop the bags off after printing everything out. Pointless

  3. I live in Singapore so all car prices are skewed and sound wrong .

Currently drive a KIA Sorento. I have a year left before I have to scrap my car.10Y certificate of entitlement to keep a car on the road here .Looking for a new car.Thinking either  BMW X5 or Jaguar Xpace .Price  is stupid  ,but get some back after 10yrs.Will do on the never never at virtually zero cost.Owning a car here is effectively  a  10yr lease anyways

No Koreans in groups of 5 or 6 slowing you down???

Haven’t played golf in Pattaya since 2009, but it’s a lot of fun when the caddies are decent and the green fees are not too crazy. I found that the whole day put usually cost a little more than back home, but it can be more or less depending on quality of track. I hate the courses that make the cart mandatory on top of the caddie fee

Been lucky re Koreans and Japanese.I tend to play in the afternoon. They are mostly done by then.Got stuck behind a group of 6 Thais. Must have been betting as it felt like having to wait 30mins for them to clear a green As normal they wouldn't lets us through so skipped a hole and came back played it later

  5. Im playing most days while  here . My favorite time of year to play. Played Siam CC old course which I love.  Unfortunately they are sanding everything for the LPGA in Feb
Wasn't in the best condition.Played Burapha the other day, which I havent played in years.Enjoyable.
At Phoenix most days.Good condition and not too busy.
Might venture further afield next week.Told Pattavia is nice.

Another view..... interesting that these "peaceful" protesters who wear masks were reported shown on video by throwing a rock at a 70yo street cleaner and then pouring petrol on him and setting him on fire which resulted him passing away later.

A US committee of some kind has said that the US should suspend the cities trade status is a joke...… why.....it gets down to money ...and the investment by US and China between each other will still be a major consideration of what action will be taken.

The funny thing here … what the original protest was about has already has an outcome...… the thing is now.... these people are no longer protesters... they are now criminals.

    cheers

Spot on. Criminals now.I should add the police are just as bad as the protesters now with their actions. Its descending into total chaos

    Things getting worse...

Government issuing a law banning face mask is just adding oil on the fire.

Funny thing is that they are enforcing an old law from the colonial era for this...

Some gov officials want to instaur a curfew.... Another silly idea.  Except putting the PLA in the street there is no way to enforce it.

And thats exactly what China want. Its all playing into their hands. They will just play the waiting game

Hate to see what is happening but I am still on the side they are more patriots than protestors!

Going to take 20 years before HK economically will ever recover to where it was 1 year ago, but still...if the Canto get better control of their own destiny via Universal Suffrage it will be a better place in 25 years.

Hate to be a pessimist...but on the Universal Suffrage issue.....next up SGP....I predict massive street protest there within 18 mos.....maybe it is the Greta Thornburg effect????

Funny you mention that.Govt here are already putting out via the media that anyone even attempting thinking about doing such a thing will be arrested on the spot.Changing the law as well for asking for police permission to demonstrate. As usual they are steps ahead.
Election here soon. The wealth divide is bigger than ever and yes its all to do with property and money. For years Singaporean citizens  have  the right to buy Govt built apartments(HDB).This was based on the UK idea of social housing.Problem has come to light that its not freehold, its a 99 year lease.People saved up bought a place, and want to hand it down to their families once they pass away.Suddenly thats only 40 odd years away or a generation and a half.Realization setting in that its just like renting really. You dont ever really own the place. The idea is that the Govt will build a load more new places, tearing down the old, rehouse the tenants and then offer them to buy the new build, ...again on a 99 year lease.

Even the locals, as tunnel vision that they normally have, are beginning to see that its just smoke and mirrors, and the only people that really benefit are the developers and Govt...sound familiar

Surely not going to be a good stretch to be hanging around a Starbucks in 852 next few weeks as they appear to be the new target. Big mistake Maxim's Group made not staying neutral!

Its crazy, the whole thing has gone to far now.
Right back to watching the Buckeyes handing the Huskers a footballing education...

I just moved my Tues night flight back to 852 to early Wed morning. What a stupid oversight it was to be thinking 6pm on Oct 1 would be a good time to be touching down.

I was there the other week.Landed on the Sunday afternoon the airport express and trains smashed up.Luckily I got the last train into town before it kicked off.Could see streams of protesters heading to the airport along the highway as I was heading into town

Tip I was given.Always arrive in the morning as the protesters are still in bed. After 11am it gets going

Been one of more tear gassed zones! Everyone of big marches from Vic Park to Legco goes down Hennessy and when dusk settles in and front liners begin the confrontational tactics the police respond and front liners retreat back into Wanchai and further east often spilling onto Lockhardt. Forget the lil detail about Police HQ right there at end of Lockhardt.

Personally I have sucked up some tear gas fumes on Lockhardt between Fenwick and Luard on 2 different occassions in last month.

For people who live in HK it is quite easy to avoid all the bs, and safety is not a concern...essentially just stay at home, especially after the sun sets on a Saturday or Sunday night. But for anyone not living there....I will disagree with Spicey.....very stupid to go on a leisure visit to Hong Kong right now. The absurdly low hotel rates might be enticing, but good luck to you when you are wandering around tourist laden zones at 9pm and suddenly the mass transit stations are closed leaving you stranded, 75% of shops close down and water cannons come cruising down the street followed by a pack of over zealous raptors.

The worst of it all 10000% still to come.

Agreed SG.This is going around in HK in various chat groups

  12. The ulterior motive is actually that cash transactions are not traceable, so the government can't tax you as easily, and they can't keep track of your spending as readily.

Also a motive of the card companies. It’s so easy now to tap a card especially a credit card. Before you know it you’ve spent a few grand. With cash in your hand you know your budget. I have fallen into the trap last few months. Scratching my head where the hell did that lot go. All
Of a sudden you get a end of month bill and boom they got you. High interest rates and forever in debt. Iv seen it happen here more and more. Debit card from your account is nearly as dangerous. Tap tap tap and suddenly your account is empty. So tap the CC and fall into the trap.
I’m going back to basics. Cash is king.
