Thank goodness the workers weren't down there pulling cable when that guy drove over.

Stuck truck finally freed from Sukhumvit hole 10-wheeler heavily laden with dirt took six hours to extricate after collapsing steel covering
There was another article noting that it had one of those decals they're trying to crack down on. The decal lets the BIB know the driver has paid a bribe to be able to overload their vehicle.

One of my favourite dining experiences is sashimi with wasabi/soy sauce and ice cold beer.
But i've just read on google that i'm not meant to mix the wasabi with soy sauce. What the f**k! How else to eat it except pick up the sashimi with chopsticks, dip in the sauce and eat.
That's how I've always done it, and I've seen Japanese people in Japan do the same. I don't know why google thinks that's not how to use wasabi.

Some places sell tubes of wasabi that is no stronger than Gentleman's Relish but in other's it is the real thing.... Zen in Centrun has very strong Wasabi but the food court is no stronger than a trebor mint ...
The wasabi you scoop out of the bowl at Shabuzhi is also very strong. My Mrs doesn't like it, but I love it.

Another very suspicious drink story. Would have been it bit more believable if the drink ordered was closer to the consistency and color of urine. But a milkshake, come on, how could you not tell right away the drink was not what you ordered.Especially as he said it was warm. Milkshakes are cold, he should have noticed when he touched it.

I've never been blown away by Thai food spice levels. When asked I just say muean kon Thai.
On the other hand I had a Mexican dish made with habaneros and Cajun dish made with Carolina reapers that made me question my decision making skills.

Not driving. I'll get a bus or a Bolt but it looks like the beach is quite long so hope I end up in the right area.
I use [email protected], tel: 085 747 4542 for trips between Rayong city and central Pattaya, because I don't like to drive in central Pattaya. You might give them a try. If you do, tell them Gary from Rayong sent you 😀
I've been using them for years and they charge me 1KBaht each way. Mae Ram Phueng is farther out so it may be more. Especially if you're going to the Ban Phe part of the beach

I've just sort of agreed to go to Mae Ram Phueng Bech not far from there. Trouble is I have no idea how I'm going to get there!
Actually Mae Ram Phueng beach extends into Ban Phe on the western side of the district. That's where we're going, weather permitting. A place called Pama resort does outstanding seafood served at tables right on the beach.
Are you driving? If so take 36 to Sukhumvit (3) in Rayong, go east to 1001, turn right and it'll take you right to Mae Ram Phueng beach. The Ban Phe section is about 7.5km east along the coast and is better maintained (cleaned).

After several beautiful days of blue skies and hot temperatures. I agreed that we could go to the beach at Ban Phe tomorrow.
Right now I'm listening to a huge storm roll in .

With a debit card the money comes out of your account at the time of purchase. If there is a problem good luck getting the cash back. With a CC if there is a problem you simply refuse to pay it and they will go to bat for you with the place you had the problem with
With a bank debit card, I agree. With the Visa/MasterCard insurance it's should be pretty easy to get it back.

Does that limit the risk? I use a credit card for online purchases and restaurants/bars thinking the max possible loss is lower than if using a debit card (assuming there is a reasonable sum in the account).
It's my understanding that VISA and MasterCard branded debit cards carry the same protection as their credit cards.

I'm sure most of us are from the " old school" which pretty much says, "never a borrower or lender be". I broke that rule when I got my first mortgage but try my best to live by the dogma of "If you can't afford it, don't buy it, or save up until you can".
I paid off my US mortgage a few years before I retired, and that's technically the last debt I ever had. I do have a credit card for certain online purchases that require it, but I pay it off as soon as I use it. Now that we can get VISA or MasterCard branded debit cards, I should probably do away with the credit card.

We just got back from watching "The Undertaker" (สัปเหร่อ). Our first visit to a movie theater in Thailand in nearly 20 years, but we wanted to see this one. It has already grossed over 700 million Baht, and has the distinction of being done in the Isaan dialect of Lao. So there are subtitles in both Thai and English. It also got an 18+ age rating because they swear so much. Fun ghost story.
The photo says 300MBaht, but that was just the opening weekend.

Bizarre Island.
Baked spinach.
Daughter had a cream shrimp and roe spaghetti.
I had spicy Italian sausage spaghetti. Wagyu sausage pizza shared.
TW wanted to try their (fairly) new noodle soup station. To be fair, they use slow braised beef in the soup, and this is one of the best restaurants in Rayong, but at 245 Baht it's the most expensive noodle soup I've ever bought in Thailand. She thought so, too, but had to try.
