  1. We're supposed to vote for 3 representatives for the Borough Council. I have 8 names to chose from. Problem is, s none of them have written, or called, I have no idea what any of them are standing for, and the 3 shit-stirring motor-mouths on fakebook's names don't happen to appear on my ballot paper.

    Strange that....

  2. Problem with living alone, as many know, is lots of food comes in packs for couples or families..... so the brioche rolls I bought came in a 4 pack, and as two were consumed yesterday, there were two more sitting staring at me. Yes, I could have thrown them in the freezer, but that is already full of other goodies...

The fridge had some mince, onions, Tommy k and  cheese in.... so....

It's been my biggest contrast ever when returning home.

Usually I return to mid double temps in March, this year I have returned in late April to single figures and rain.

    It really is f***d up.

Thailand is the hottest I have known it and here the wettest and coldest I can ever remember in April.

It's now midday and only 6 degrees with a real feel of minus 2. FFS.

Agreed. I've been back for 6 weeks ish, and my heating bill has exceeded my highest months aircon bill by almost double. I've been in long trousers and a sweatshirt for all that time, and going for a walk has needed a fleece and occasionally a wooly hat.

As for the boat... it's looking lonely on it's mooring, either bouncing violently in the wind, or getting rained on. I haven't been out to it in a month. Our mooring is only 100m off shore, so easy to check... general rule of thumb is if we can see the water line, she ain't sinking!

Hate to ask the inevitable question, but isn't it spring time over there now and the weather gets a bit better or is this just a rare occurence?

In theory it's spring, yes. As to whether it gets better from here on, we can only hope so! Apparently it's been this wet and miserable all winter...

  5. That's always been the case in the condos I've rented. I've always rented through the juristic office in the complex.

Move in, pay months rent and a month's deposit.

On moving out, the condo management read the meters, and check condition of the condo. My deposit has always been returned, less the electricity (in my case last March was at 6.5b per unit) and water, and a cleanaing charge. Presumably if there was any damage we would argue over the cost 😀

I make sure the office know at least a week in advance of when I am leaving, and remind them regularly in the last week.

During my stay I'm issued with a monthly government bill for electricity used, and pay that at a 7-11. This bill is given to me by the management office, but is an official government slip. Obviously if I'm moving out on the 20th, and the government bill doesn't come until the 28th, keeping money from my deposit means the management can pay the bill on my/the owners behalf when it arrives.

I'm happy for them to take the required amount from my deposit... means I don't have to have funds available on the last day of my trip
