Gabor started calling members of Pattaya Talk "lame dupes" and "lame losers"  back in 2005 (he had joined PT in 2002).  But he only coupled "lame dupe" with "overpayer" once in 2005 and that, ironically, was in a joking reference to himself. He used the phrase more in 2006, but sometimes in the form "overpayer lame dupe"  or "overpays lame dupe." Here's his first use of "lame dupe overpayer" about another BM.

    Gablack2.JPG

The late Baz (aka Alfa-Zulu, Patna), who was also Hungarian, told me  "lame dupe" is a literal translation of the slang phrase béna balek.  The word béna  means "lame" in the sense of "crippled"  and balek can be translated as "sucker," "easy mark" or more rarely, "dupe."  Putting the words together conveys the meaning of a "pathetic sucker or dupe."  It also implies the person so called was fooled by a scam that's easy to see through, he said.

"Lame dupe overpayer" gathered steam in 2006 and other BMs began using it.  By 2007, it was widespread on the Pattaya punter boards.  However, Gabor wasn't the one who first used the acronym LDOP.  That dubious distinction goes to a Pattaya Talk BM from New Zealand who first used it in 2007.

Not so sure about that as probably most aim their entertainment at their audience.  Sea Hawk was meant to go enjoy Isaan music, maybe not such a great viewing for those in Bangkok. I was in the Khon Kaen Tawandaeng and there was an Isaan A lister, the place was packed to the rafters, the atmosphere was unbeatable.

The Thais know how to party and I think most Tawandaengs aim their entertainment and music to their local audiences although some super A listers are nationally loved.

All of them are great places to visit and enjoy a view of how Thais party, I was very impressed.

bangkok much beter almost every way even esan music especialy at end night. beer & food not even same world.

been in ut, kk & bangkok. all ok but bangkok world class.

He HAD a considerable number as it happens.

Personally I always considered Gabor to be a one trick pony (L D O P) and I know he paid the girl with glasses at Secrets 1,500 baht (for sloppy seconds after me :default_biggrin:)   because I asked her but for a long period he had many supporters who seemed to hang on his every word.

agree it was very odd. he just seams creepy.

Just to keep the record straight:  Gabor had an image hosting site at the time Secrets' board started up.  It was the image hosting site that could have had 6,000 members.  Gabor's forum, The Pattaya Fun, didn't get started until several years after Secrets' board was up and running.  That forum never had more than a few hundred members and failed quickly. I was actually surprised that it never got ny traction.

Another interesting fact is that several posters wrote on Secrets that Pattaya Talk would gain hundreds of members after Gabor was banned from Secrets and Pattaya Addicts.  Again according to  Martin, that never happened.  He said only a few posters "followed" Gabor to Talk, as most of Gabor's presumed "fans" were already members on Talk.

....haven't been yet to the Irish Clock.  Menu looks great, but so many good choices/places here in UT.  You have so many Irish Pubs in Pattaya, I haven’t made it a priority to visit it.  I was planning on visiting the Good Day Cafe and then realized it’s Mexican Wednesday @ the Sports Bar Restaurant & Bar.  Btw, one of my favs in Paattaya - Taco Taco

Yeah, I was reaching a little with the "Starsky and Hutch" but I haven't seen the Clint Eastwood movie; also, if the black Ferrari is  the one used on "Miami Vice", it is actually a replica built on a Corvette C3 chassis but I'd still love to have it...

yes, story is ferrari would not allow its cars on MV but so many copies like that one made deal. stop copies and we give you 2 testarossas.

MV say hell yes and crokett drive testarossa next lol.
