Good choice, the V8's of the E92 were known to be troublesome. I always liked the sound of the E46 and the straight 6 has a nice rasp to it. Bloke nearby has a real garage queen, a 2002 Turbo which only comes out for shows and sunny days, another BMW I'd like to own 🙂

E46 M3 CSL is the car we all should have bought when they had depreciated to £25-30,000 Daren't even look what they cost now haha.

The noise they make is epic.

sorry to go off topic a bit (apologies Mods) - How did the roadster compare driving wise? did you notice there more flex in the chassis? (I know most petrol heads have an opinion on the aesthetics lol 🙂 )

Personally I love them, the contours of the E type are unparalleled for anything else at the time. In some ways I wish I could have been there for the reveal at Geneva, the sheer chock on the faces of people and a generation used to Rileys, Morris and the like coming out of the UK, and also to have been stood somewhere as one of these purred along the high street back in the 60's, everyone looking at it. Awesome.

The Roadsters were wobbly as hell. They simply did not feel safe at high speeds. If you flipped or even had any sort of impact against other more solid vehicles or objects you would be dead, end of. An ex Gf's Dad saw that happen once and said what he saw when he ran to the wreck to see if he could help was something he still shudders to think about now.

You can get a better ide of how low and exposed they are from this pic of it surrounded by normal modern cars -

EDIT - This pic is from mid 2000's, consider that modern cars are even bigger now!!!

Got more respect, coupe or roadster, from other road users than in any other of the probably 200+ types of car of every make including all the good ones I have driven though.

    OOOhhhhh.....nice.

Are they centre lock wheels? Must be a b*tch to keep them clean as well. The colour suits it.

Yep, centre lock with spinners. Wire wheels are nightmare. These pics are from 15 odd years ago now.

Had a black roadster a few times as well -

Nope... not following the procedure of repeating the instruction. Bad protocole.

And yeah, yeah, I know...it's nearly standard in the military....

Yep. I'll have an ex RAF, FAA, USAF, USN, or most NATO air service pilots over any direct to cockpit trained bods and they can run whatever protocoles they want to get me where I'm going in one piece 🙂

  5. I've said it before and I'll say it again; cramming 190 people into a 737 or A320 is fucking stupid. Nothing to do with the cause of the accident.....but the frequency of accidents of these aircraft, due to the massive numbers of them in operation is all adding up.

This will go down as CFIT. Pilot error. Same as OG269.

Pilot skill and experience simply not good enough.

THIS is how good they should be -

The pilot comms at 00:48 is just beyond perfection.

Then, when they're on short finals, ATC gives them windage at 4:38...just a double click of the Mic to confirm. Superb.

that's a good spot right there although I'm not 100% convinced on the rear end styling.

No other Aston has to have ASTON MARTIN spelt out on the back does it 😐

  7. Oh, and a bit more up to date, I saw my first one of these today.

It didn't stand out at all, totally anonymous looking, I walked right past it and got in my car next to it. Could have been any Jap/Koren mid-size SUV.

Then as I looked over my shoulder before reversing out I thought, is that an Aston Martin door handle?

    Which indeed it was.

This was at the 2005 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Cartier Style et Luxe enclosure -

Yes it was. It was a great drive limited to 155mph and there was'nt much that could see it off. I had it for 3 years and did 40K miles driving from Southampton to Bournemouth daily across the New Forest on dual carriageway, it was real fun.

    Ahh the memories :default_party-smiley-048:

Great cars, i had a non Evo in Techno Violet a few times. I liked how the non Evo had a very linear power delivery.
