  1. Be careful of high protein diets - it can cause blood glucose levels to increase. I went on a high protein diet quite a while ago and after my annual physical, my doctor told me that all my results were great except for my blood sugar level. I told her about my diet and her response was that the high level was due to glucogenesis.

She recommended that I reduce my protein intake.

To charge 55bt for a Yellow Label tea bag is extortion, you can't give the bloody things away in the UK, many people are convinced they are 'waterproof' and they are likely not wrong. If you like your tea to actually have flavour then there are many brands which will provide it, but Yellow Label is not one of them.....

May I ask which brands in Pattaya are better than Yellow Label?

  3. Hello All.

I have noticed that since moving to Thailand, none of the pics in the threads are displayed. I tried both the hotel internet and my mobile phone as the hotspot device.

Would welcome any suggestions on what settings I need to change to see the pics. I have not made any changes to the settings on my laptop.

    Thank you in advance.

  4. Hello All.

I applied for the O Visa "via" the London Embassy on Wednesday (13 Sept) and I got the notification this morning that it was approved 🙂 I was a bit worried about it being declined since I am in the UK on a Tier-2 General work visa but it all worked out. I am an Australian citizen and my work visa was issued using the Oz passport.

I used my annual Staysure Insurance Policy for the health insurance requirement. I used my council tax bill as proof of my address. it was a relatively painless application.

    Next step, BKK!!!

The only negative is that the staff seem a bit surly.

This seems to be the case in almost every lounge that I have used 🙂 The exception that I found is the staff at the United Lounge in T7 at LAX (Los Angeles). They were the most helpful and friendly.

  6. I visited both the Singapore and United lounges last year, I thought that the United one was better. It was more spacious. Both offered similar food and beverage offerings during the breakfast hours. If I had to choose, it would be the United one.

if you are a Star Alliance Gold member, I would recommend that you visit both and see which one you prefer.

Ahh - fresh avocados. Looks good! The avocados here in the UK are all imported, mainly from South America. I have yet to find some that tastes like the ones you get in the USA. I know that most of it comes from Mexico, but it is still fresh.

In the last 2 years I've used Singapore, Qatar, Eva and Saudia and the cheapest and by far the best was Saudia by a country mile.

Like you though I'm paying extra next time and using Emirates again as for me they have always been better than the rest.

I am surprised that you found Emirates better than Singapore Airlines (SQ). But I agree that it all depends on your personal experiences. I have been a big fan of SQ, but when I flew with them last year in economy, it was very disappointing. The service levels have definitely dropped (like no hot towels, mid flight snacks etc).

Vegan nuggets, sweet potato and peas, carrots, sweetcorn and broccoli.

The sweet potatoes in M&S were all massive, so ended up throwing half of this meal in the bin. Just too full, and I’ve only had a slice of cake all day.

I have a soft spot for sweet potatoes 🙂 I used to really enjoy the variety that I used to be able to get in California.

How did you prepare yours? baked or boiled?

    Thanks in advance.

  10. I flew BC on United once from Sydney to San Francisco. I did not find it too comfortable since I am a side sleeper, and the place were you place your feet while sleeping is very limited. If choosing BC because of the legroom offered vs the chance to have a very comfortable sleep, then I can understand the choice made.

I have flown economy with Singapore and Thai mostly. I always get a window seat so that I can place the pillow against the window and have a very comfortable sleep.  Of all the airlines that I have flown, Singapore provided the best experience in economy.

Maybe one I retire I will try BC once again.

Last night met up with a former gal pal of mine for dinner that I met from the gym I joined here when arriving in Jan 2016. Have not seen her in 4 years. So finally got to catch up with her. She is now at another gym and not the one I am at now...sadly. Great gal, Masters Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Air Traffic Control at Swampy, works both the Main Tower and Radar Control Room. After dinner we all went over to "Promenade" and saw "John Wick, Chapter 4"  Dam, Keanu Reeves is one bad ass Mother Fucker in this movie!

Next Thursday on one of her days off, she is meeting us at the tower and will show us the entire operation, no cameras or video of any kind are allowed. I am looking forward to see this operation for sure.
