Great news for all fans of the Devil's Den! The owner, Cerberus (Mike) has posted on Pattaya Addicts that he has recovered from his health problems to the extent he's in the process of finalizing the contract on new premises in which to re-open the DD.   yeah-baby-smiley-emoticon.gif

DD has always been a niche establishment and not everyone's favorite.  However, no one can deny that the DD was unique for Pattaya and offered a level of service- with a guarantee no less- seldom found anyway in the world.

I'm very glad both Cerberus and DD are making a comeback.  :default_goodjob:

My thanks to all who offered suggestions for exercises that I could do with my bad hip and knee.

I had never heard of resistance bands and I can see how I could use those to work out without getting additional pain.

When I was football training in the gym the mantra always was "No pain -No gain". Very different pain to that I experience currently.

Poof ...but I love you North London boy. Sorry to hear the knee is so bad sounds awful mate, all that praying for a late Arsenal equaliser.

Danny don't get regular weights ...kettlebells mate. Start with a 4 kg one loads of good training videos on YouTube etc 1000s of times more effective than barbells.   They are for whacking your old boss over the head with .....

Been having a look at departures from Heathrow with both EVA and Thai evening flights this last few days, nearly always both well over an hour late take off. I remember a half hour was pretty standard for both, and mostly arrived on time anyway. But near 11pm at the moment ffs!

Mine was an hour late. Chaotic scenes at boarding gate as everyone just stormed forward at once. Then a large Indian lady started shouting at everyone and formed into proper channels.

On the plane - Biz Class ....nice !! No more free champagne until after take off some bollocks about tax ??? Not like it used to be even a couple of months ago ....... much as you wanted once chocks away.

Swampy was great and straight through and then .............. 2 out of the last 3 times had to wait a good 30 minutes for the first bag to arrive. December waited an hour ...... but blimey its HOT!!!! Nice .......

Arrive Thursday afternoon. In my experience Tues, Wed and Thurs are least busy days as airports, though Swampy's a wee bit different as so busy again.

We're not particularly in a hurry, just could do without a lot of a queuing with a 6 year old after a long flight. Though in all the many years i've been coming to Bangkok, i've never encountered a queue where i've said 'never again, fast track'.

That coupled with i send Sa to go find a 'Nong' who works there, get directed/escorted to the children's line, has me thinking yea, just go with the flow. Even if we were through faster than kid's line, have to wait on bags no matter.

You're with your wee one and will be waved through.

Wear a bowler hat and an Orange Sash and they'll think you're crackers and Fast Track you as well all the way too !!!

Ironic that you mention Colchicine; today I was reading the notes on my antibiotics and it says 'do not take if on Colchicine as there could be serious side effects'. I am on Erythromycin for Sinusitis presently. Had the problem for 5 weeks so far and this is my second dose of antibiotics, getting on my bloody nerves.

I had a terrible sinus infection in Thaiand last October tried everything antibiotics etc.

Friend suggested what the Chinese do and found this 72 hours later on Amazon boomshanka .... all gone and take it with me now on trips. Hope it works Dave ....help to numb the pain of Chelsea's season too !!

I’m after some advice and this is possibly a ‘crystal ball’ type of question but I’ll ask anyway.

I’m looking at a trip for 3 of us 8th December to 2nd January and have been looking since Jan this year. Really want a direct flight but these are coming in at £1100 - £1400 per person in Economy.

Are there any dates when flight prices change and in my case likely to go down. In price or is this the new price which we will have to put up with ?

Direct around Christmas those are good prices. Options are limited these days. I paid around £1800 for a direct Thai Air flight last year. £1100 is good ....... year before flew Austrian Air and got a great deal on Biz Class around Christmas. Changeover in Vienna ....

So Sean, do you take 2, 100mg Allopurinol tablets daily, or 1?  Doctor started me on 1 a day, then check uric level in a month or so. Though 1 is certainly working, as the gout pain is back, though tolerable so far, kinda prickly pain.

And the Colchicine, did you take it for 2 weeks every day?  Says on my tablet box, 3 days max. But then i'm reading if starting allopurinol and that triggers an attack, you can take 1 or 2 colchicine ongoing for maybe 3 months if needed ffs.

If that's the case with Colchicine, would help i don't want this to get worse, going to Thailand in under 2 weeks time, and would take Colchicine twice a day so as not to ruin the holiday.  Had i known starting Allopurinol would definitely had brought this back, i knew there was a chance, i'd have waited until i came back. But like you, the last attack was long and very sore, knew it was getting worse, arthritic, and knew Allopurinol would get rid of it all over time, so wanted to start taking them for those reasons.  And i will hang in there, it was only getting worse. This way is short term pain for long term gain.

As Gal says, it's diet as well. My diet slipped back there to meat and fish, then this kicked off. Not sure if it was all to do with that, but certainly wouldn't have helped. I need to knock that on the head until i pass this point, then get where you are and happy days again.

One a day 100mg. Doc said to me take colchicine 2 or even 3 times a day for 2 weeks first..and I did.

Allopurinol has been life changing. Tried all the dietary cherries and stuff did not work for me.

I do think Vit C and coffee are good ideas however. Plus I try my best to reduce sugar intake as much as possible.

Meat and fish can eat as much as I want plus a few Guinness last night for Paddy's Day.

Stick with the Allopurinol D. because gout is an evil illness to try and live with.

You could be right, only started kicking off again since my missus made a load of lamb Krapow the other day, then she made this yesterday, seabass in garlic, chilli and lime, which I devoured as I love it!

Have to tell her she's not helping, at least wait until the Allopurinol starts to take effect :default_1087:

A friend is flying out on Monday ... he has his Covid certs , but no insurance .... he normally buys insurance from his bank when he arrives in Thailand ...

Travelling without insurance is seriously dumb.

Even when I was young and stupid travelling the world I always had decent travel insurance. One time I had an accident in Bangkok and was in Bumrunggrad one glance at the insurance cert the rest was A1 emergency medical treatment. Why wait ??
