  1. One friend is 85, has 1million+ dollars in his investment account plus a unit worth @600k. He retired to Pattaya, went back for a visit, git stuck with covid bans. Had a stroke just as they were lifted, lost 10%+ of his memory capacity.

Stuck in OZ, sons don't care to visit, knows no one, lost confidence and scared to go out. A boring existence unfortunately so health and enjoyment for him.

Another has no money, 78 now. On a pension with subsided housing so can't move or have anyone share. Also alone and bored, health pretty good but boredom and poverty for him.

I remember reading an article that said 'do XYZ and live five years longer' but sometimes the extra 5 are not so pleasurable!

  2. It's not how many years you live, it's the quality of those years that matters most. I have friends many years younger than me who are not enjoying those years.

  3. 1963, first car a 1953 Ford Custom line. I went to a driving school to get my licence, which was recommended.

Out for a drive on the test in a VW Beatle, tester sitting in the back. Pretty heavy traffic but I sailed thru a few intersections where I had the right of way. I heard a few intakes of breath from there.

Back at the office he asked what I had been driving and when I told him his response was 'yes, I thought it was something pretty big'. I passed.

  4. I don't know Thai law, but here in the Philippines an attorney advised me that you can apply for probate on your will while you are still alive. This cuts out the delay in processing after your death.

Probate is just a process to verify the legality of the will.
