    Hii guys,

For the last week or so I have been having major problems in accessing my Yahoo mail account . I have tried-using some 5 different browsers but with almost zero success. Anyone know what the hell is going on?Fortunately, I also have a gmail account so can use that instead but it's a bloody nightmare as many email addresses are stored only on Yahoo

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

    Thanks

    Alan

That's pretty shitty.. I'm guessing they get most resignations on 1st Jan ... wherever I've worked your holidays etc accrue as you work , so leave after 3 months you are owed 25% of your allocation

Yeah, it is.  Gotta work till I'm dead anyway (young wife), so it doesn't really matter to me.

Surely that would be prorated .. ?

That's why I'm asking.  Where I work, it accrues the previous year, and is awarded the following year, so quitting on 31 Dec screws you out of your vacation payout.

  4. Congratulations on being able to retire in a fashion that suits you.   Its an accomplishment.

Why not work until Jan 1st (or 31st, as the case may be) and get the following years vacation, sick day, etc..?

f**k sake grow a set and get some self respect. No one likes a rat, nevermind getting on like a crying little girl.

    Embarrassing!

Did you just attack another poster there by calling him a muppet? 🤣

I have been warned and had posts deleted for merely mentioning another poster, and you're allowed to get away with this?

U.S. intelligence has “increasing confidence” that the novel Wuhan coronavirus outbreak began in a lab that was researching bat-coronaviruses, contrary to China’s claim that the pandemic emerged from a Wuhan wet market, according to multiple sources that briefed Fox News.

The sources told Fox News that the initial transmission of the virus looks to be bat-to-human, and that “patient zero” contracted the disease while working at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, before going into the general population. While the lab is China’s first to achieve the highest level of international bio-research safety, known as BSL-4, its work with bats had been conducted at the lower protection level of BSL-2.

Senator Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) first warned that the origins of the coronavirus were unknown, citing a Chinese study which found that the first documented coronavirus case in Wuhan had no connection to the market, but was vilified by U.S. media outlets for suggesting the virus could have come from the lab.

Democrats have been largely dismissive of claims of Chinese duplicity, instead focusing criticism on the Trump administration’s response. “The reason that we are in the crisis that we are today is not because of anything that China did, not because of anything the WHO did, it’s because of what this president did,” Senator Chris Murphy (D., Conn.) said Tuesday.

That's slowly but surely starting to happen.

We'll see.  Never underestimate the power of the Emotional Appeal.  These people have been driving our politics for decades now.

  8. The previous post by simon triggered a thought....

He said "I firmly believe that the only way to beat this virus is to stay at home & have as little contact with other people as possible", and he's hardly alone in thinking that.  The thought triggered was drawing a parallel between the extremes we're going to in protecting a small minority from this virus, and the extreme "end of life" measures taken in Western healthcare fighting a costly losing battle with the extremely sick.

At some point, all of this will have to be re-evaluated.  And it will be ugly.

    You're a bit too late I'm afraid.

I snapped up a few good deals 2 weeks ago e.g. Tesla that gained 40% in a fortnight, and even I was late.

They may rally more still but be aware of Q1 results and 2020 forecasts coming out across the board these weeks as well as unemployment figures etc.

Could go up could go down! 🙂

I may be late on an individual stock (see XOM), but I don't think the market as a whole has bottomed yet.  Too much bad news on the way.

    Nice job on TSLA

    Good post mate.

My only problem is that those of us who have genuine concerns about how the situation has been handled have been dismissed as callous, anti-vaxers or conspiracy theorists.

Seriously, some folks have trouble politely engaging people who dispute their narrative.  Certainly not my first time.....

Whole speech- not saying I agree with all his politics, but he seems to have shown a foresight many have lacked.

"We are not ready for the next epidemic"  We NEVER are, nor will we ever be.

Dunno how "sciency" you guys are, but when you ponder the avenues of transmission for contagion, it approaches futility and delusion to think you can avoid it.

As there's no vaccine I agree you cannot do anything effective against the virus itself yet, which is why the next best thing would be to try and slow it down I suppose.

How effective this is remains to be seen of course, and in 50 years people will look back and possibly shake their heads after having dealt with several pandemics since, but this is the 1st proper one in recent history and we're all just guessing.

My guess is people will look back at stuff like this and shake their heads.  We've lost our fookin minds
