I have some photo negatives from 1990. Anything i can do with my phone or scanner to retrieve the pictures. I did try google but would prefer some first hand knowledge. I just need to choose a couple of photos and extract, i don't need large file size/ great quality.

There are negative scanners, but for just a few negatives, that is too costly (unless you can borrow/rent one).

I think I would frame them, project them on something flat and white (and large enough) and make a photo of that. Most image software can handle negatives. My personal favourite is IrfanView, which is free.

  2. I like a good whisk(e)y, but normally I will limit it to one or sometimes two measures. Unless it is cask strength, I prefer to drink it neat. Cask strength I usually dilute with a bit of spring water. And for mixes I use cheaper blendeds that don't taste too great when drinking pure.

The first time I was in a bar in Thailand (with somebody more experienced, whom I had met the night before in my hotel), I ordered a coke and discovered there was something more in it (Mekong). That soon became an acquired taste. Unfortunately, production of that rotgut has been discontinued. The last time I saw a bottle of it was a couple of minutes ago while taking this photo:

For the nerds and geeks out there, remember RPN?

Only used it when programming in Forth. It does have its advantages.

Beginning next week I will head out on my bike before 1000 hrs. I will have a wad of 20's and 100's and I will be looking for targets that I might be able to help, even if for something simple as a cold drink. Fcuk, I don't know what else I can do.

I can recommend fresh, young coconut, especially from an ice bath.

13,000 baht is 220 baht a night for 59 nights so that should have rung alarm bells!

Yup, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Was having a look at some dates for non stop flights to Thailand the other day, noticed, EVA, Thai and BA on it now.

Can only be a good thing, more competition, not that i've ever flown on them to Thailand.

I have flown on THAI and EVA to Thailand, both are (or at least were when I last flew with them) pretty decent airlines.

The only real problem I ever had with THAI was that the first time I booked with them they quit flying to/from Amsterdam between me booking that direct flight and actually flying it. A quick hop to and a (too long) transfer at FRA solved that problem (without extra cost to me).

The site will be used for a new monument to the late King.

Pattaya to erect monument honouring King Bhumibol Adulyadej, The Legendary Royal Sailor

Pattaya City has unveiled plans to commemorate the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, also known as King Rama IX, through the construction of a monument at the site of the old royal sailing club on Pattaya beach. Deputy Mayor Kritsana Boonsawat presided over a meeting highlighting the city’s dedication to preserving its cultural heritage.

The inspiration behind this initiative stems from a historic event where Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, accompanied by the Royal Family, sailed in Pattaya Bay decades ago. This event holds immense historical and cultural significance.

On April 19, 1966, at 4:28 AM, His Majesty the King personally sailed a 13-foot OK-class sailboat named “Vega” across the Gulf of Thailand, from the Klai Kungwon Royal Palace in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, to Toey Ngam Beach, Sattahip, Chonburi, arriving at 9:28 PM after a 17-hour journey covering 111 kilometres. His remarkable feat conquered challenging weather conditions and numerous obstacles.

That is at least a pretty reasonable explanation, let's hope it is true.

My first thought was that they just don't like to do streetworks in the rainy season.

Not Thailand but Indonesia although I'd be surprised if they don't do something similar in Thailand. In Thailand they would probably only need one motorcycle.

    Two, using sidecars.

We also had dire warnings in several online sources of stiff penalties for those caught with "water cannons", yet on the last day I saw a vendor of same walk right by a cop who didn't even look at him - gotta love it.

But that vendor wasn't using them. You could even have bought one right next to that cop without any problems, those would have only come if/when you started to use it in that location. Buying one to use the next day at the beach was and is perfectly fine.

With the defamation laws such as they are here, I wouldn't want to push it beyond a verbal exchange.

Why do you think I included that "nearly". As far as I am concerned, she can wonder till the end of her days about the sudden drop in numbers.

She also lost our future custom as we'll be sure to avoid her bar going forward.

She lost a lot more future custom as a lot more people read this and remember. I would nearly recommend somebody drop her a link to this thread and more specifically your post (and the reactions to it).
