Loving that I woke up this morning !
Last 2weeks 8 people I knew have passed .
Great to be living here in Thailand .
Wow, that's a reality check, if I ever heard one.
Spoke to a Jomtein ex-pat, an elderly English fellow who says similar. Told me He was given eight months to live a year ago and every night He sits on His balcony with a beer, and morning He wakes up He feels thankful He's had one more day. Reality check for sure.

The new Family dog. Kids love Him. Only bad point is all the food the Wife takes out Her restaurant kitchen, now goes to the dog. Not me!

I am glad so many posters are naming Emirates, I have chosen it for the first time for my trip in November because they now fly from Stansted for the first leg to the Middle East. This is only eight miles from home as opposed to the 40 plus miles to Heathrow.
Best food and drink service by a mile.

So which is your favourite airline that flys you on the big white bird to and from Thailand?
What is it you like about the airline? Food, seats, IFE, baggage allowance, timings, price, etc?
I've asked this question and I'm not sure of the answer myself, will go off and have a hard think.
*note to self, must ask easier questions*
I quite like Emirates. Thai and Emirates. Hated BA and Quantas.

Exactly!
I hate being back here. People are fucking ignorant. I miss Asia for what it is. You can live your life and never be judged. As long as you obey the law and customs in Thailand, nobody will judge you.

Unfortunately Musk is only saying what the majority of Western people think of foreigners living in Thailand. They are of course wrong.

When I lived there many years ago, the Chinese would take "tours". I would be sitting in a go go and all of a sudden there would be 40 Chinese men arrive, get a free drink, sit down and watch a a 20 minute show, then leave and gt back on the bus.
Now the Wife and kids are with them, they can't get out.

i remember the arguemtn with mangosteen who refused to believe the cvity was evolving. it has. a lot of good stuff but not its over run with coaches and thailand in general has seen more and more buying cars, so the roads are often chaos. out here on the DS, well when i moved here it was a rural area, no shops for farang, no milk or butter and a handful of cheap drinking places around the lake. now its going mental. huge shopping mall, new motorways, and rural roads suddenlt being widened to take 4 lanes in the future. i like the quiet countryside here, and the fact that pattaya was easy reach but i didnt live in it. looks like it is coming to me now .
I guess if it wasnt for the chinks and rsukies we wouldnt have the new airport, which is convenient, we certainly wouldnty have the new motors ways, funded by chinks who now take all the tolls and if we didnt have the fat feminazis coming here with their kids.. no waterparks or shopping malls.
Me I am happy with a quiet bar/cafe, foodland and Siamburis for shopping and the quiet life but, as is obvious, I am growing older .
It's slowly getting there Tommy. But the buying of cars and big bikes has caused more death and destruction on Thai roads than a B52 could have inflicted. I think Mango got it right.
Darkside certainly getting busier. The ex-pats move out of Central Pattaya to live a cheaper and quieter life elsewhere. A mixed bag really. But give me the old Pattaya anyday to what it resembles now.

Pattaya has changed but so have I. The new Pattaya still fulfills my needs.
It's still great. Nowhere is changing faster than the UK, doesn't fill my needs anymore. Thought I'd get that in.

The new motorway from the airport to Pattaya is great. New motorway from u-tapao to Pattaya as well, high speed train connecting Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao at some point in future, same for Bangkok to Pattaya I believe. Sin City is only going to become more and more developed with mainstream tourism.
It has a lot of mainstream tourism Brenden. Asian and middle Easter. No way Thomas Cook is going to sell package tours to Mr Ms Mrs England and 2.8 kids. When you go to a holiday resort on the med that's where the families go. And they spend.

Respectfully disagree....they might not do it in the same sense the typical Western sex pat tourist has done for past 50 plus years of Pattaya going from sleepy little fishing village to mega destination, but truth is, when it comes to the culture of nightlife and P4P, the Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans mastered it many many moons ago, long b4 the before the little sleepy fishing village was a destination. The culture, including p4p is much bigger, stronger, and dominant part of their culture than it ever has or will be in the western cultures.
Hi Ron,
Yes of course, the Japs are masters of perversion. But the majority of the Pattaya tour groups are couples and families from China and Korea. Nobody has done more bar crawling in Pattaya than me through the years. A Chinese man and wife with their granny is as rare in a Gogo as a free barfine.

Bai dwai, go with of course.
Kwai, a bad word in Thai
Algaan, a phrase about lovemaking kept strictly between Thais
Ayu tow Rai, how old are you.
Yim yai, big smile
Nalak, cute
Jim, vagina but the rude version
Ongsar tow Rai, how hot is it.

like i said, go with the flow, can hardly stop these masses coming right? they want to see the freakshow that is (was) pttya, so let em have it, there is no stopping em anyways; the flow takes you to soi LK, or dark side even
I don't think the Chinese and Koreans do much nightlife. So I doubt they are there for the freakshow, as you call it. Certainly, the darkside has grown. But over there the Cops are out and about most nights, curtailing the expats from visiting bars.
LK Metro and Baukhou still decent. Soi 6 a pale shadow of what it once was. Walking street I wouldn't even bother with. Used to be masses of Europeans and Americans descending on Pattaya. That was the real big spenders and good for local business. There was a photo posted tonight on the breakfast Club of the food places at the entrance to LK Metro. Deserted at 11pm, nobody in sight. The worst low season on record my friends tell me. And they own businesses in Pattaya and the darkside. Not bars but restaurants and bakeries. That's not progress.

go with the flow, cant stop market demands, old hands are bygone farts - the times they are a changeing
But changing for what? Busloads of Chinese, Russians that don't drink in bars. Korean tour groups. Packs of Indians roaming around trying to buy one girl for six of them. I don't call that improvement. Apart from the small high season, a lot of places are badly struggling. The ones that are not and have huge running bills are just used for money laundering. Attitudes hardened, more expensive etc.
