    • Large enough place -> 300 sqm.

Could you elaborate? 300 sqm for the land plot would be small. For your price range you should be looking at 400-600 sqm = 100-150 TW , unless you buy in villages such as Silk Road Place, which seems overpriced but has a beautiful Italian style homes.

300 sqm internal living space seems too large, even counting the carport and veranda/porch as they do it in Thailand.

  2. Baan Balina 3 is wellknown and liked. A bit older than 10 years but worth to look at. Otherwise visit Baan Balina 4 or a  bit more modern style their next project Baan Pattaya 5.

Baan Anda is also nice, again a bit older but check out at least the pics on the web.

Beautiful unit, I'm sure it won't be available for too long. Love how the owner designed the interior, very nice.

Thank you for kind words. I bought this unit 1 year ago and it came with a new tenant otherwise I would have remodeled it as I prefer a more modern look and don't like the room divider which takes up some space and makes it look cramped. Maybe others prefer it the way it is now and I'll leave it?

    Comments are welcome.

TBH, Siamburies isnt quite as it used to be for me, I can find same stuff in many shops now and so their novelty has worn off.  still a nice clean and large shop, but I alternate from one shop to another and you would be surprised on availabaility and price differences

Can you name the other shops? Beside Friendship, Foodland, Foodmart near View Talay 1 and the overpriced Tops I know only MG Asia nearby Sämis Restaurant which is a bit smallish and M&A Foodshop on Siam Country Club road.

Then there is the tiny Huay Yai Corner store which never has what I need in stock.

Fever is a bit off my shopping route.

  6. Rain Forrest on Sukhumvit road. Excellent food, Thai + Farang, Fridays and Saturdays live music. Food prices not that high but beverages are expensive. Prices on the menu have 10% service charge added (prices on their facebook menu seem to be out of date: a 1 l pitcher Chang draft is advertised for 199, but I think it was around 270 Bt+).

At 6 pm still empty but an hour later the BKK HiSo's arrived.

Would you go to Yangon at this time.

No, not at the moment. Martial law is still in place in Yangon. There are night curfews (midnight to 4 a.m.). The German Foreign Office recommends German nationals to leave the country

I wanted to find out a bit about Vientiane to decide if it is worth the effort of visiting from Pattaya.

When taking a plane it is not much more an effort than going to some other capitals of the neighbouring countries - about an hour flight. By car we prefer to combine the trip to Vientiane with some other detinations, as it is quite a distance to drive.

For sure I would rate other places higher than Vientiane within 1-2 hours flight time, such as Siem Reap, Hanoi, Yangoon, though it always depends on why you are going there and what you want to do. Phnom Phen would be better for the nightlife/girls, Siem Reap for temples, Hanoi for the Halong Bay, ...

  9. Planning an 8-day trip to Nepal, 5  nights Kathmandu and maybe 2 nights somewhere else.

No, not climbing up Mt. Everest or going trecking, just a bit of walking through the city with the Mrs.

I am looking for some input regarding places to see, eat or enjoying the evening. Maybe BM @Kathmandu can give some input?

So far I have applied for the tourist visa, booked a flight with Thaismile, booked the Kumari Boutique Hotel in Thamel.

Following sights are on my list, though the sequence and combinations might get revised:

Day 1: check in at hotel, walk around Thamel

Day 2: Asan and Indra Chok Bazar, Itum Bahal Pagoda, Kathesimbhu Stupa, Hanuman Dhoka, Kumari Ghar temple, Durbar Square

Day 3: Garden of Dreams, Swayambhunath

Day 4: Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Bhaktapur

    Day 5: Kopan Monastery

Day 6: Dakshinkali Temple, Chandragiri Hills, Nagarkot

    Day 7: ???

Might skip some of it and jump on a plane to some other region. The lake at Pokhara would be an option.

Other destinations don't seem to be worth the flight expenses, such as Lumbini, the traditional birthplace of Buddha or Janakpur with the largest temple of Nepal.

We don't fancy riding elephants in the Chitwan National Park and a helicopter ride to the base camp will be above our budget. Maybe will do just a short sightseeing flight into the mountains with a small plane, costs around 200 USD per person.

Thanks for any information in advance.

This looks like a great place to visit,  open to the public?.  Any directions appreciated,  have transport.

V8 Fastlane is a restaurant on top of Soi Siam Country Club, opposite Taco house and 200 m before The Outback Sportsbar.  Can look but no touch.

German owned, food is nice, several German beers available, San Miguel White and some other beers on tap.
