So where the 1000s of deaths Thailand should be having with a population of 70 million? Where are the hospitals full with covid patients? You can't have one without the other.

Absolutely. They have either had and got over it, or never actually had it. They are not hiding 1000s of deaths, that’s just impossible.

I was talking to a friend yesterday who will be using an Agent to renew his Retirement Visa in a month or so.

He learned from the Agent that the fee for the service has had to be increased by another 1,500 baht due to an additional surcharge being required for "processing."

It would seem the lack of tourists is affecting "income" across the board.

It was still 1900 baht on Thursday doing it in person, is it the agent increasing the fee ?

I thought they took quite a balanced approach actually. Sure Trump got some bashing but so did Biden. I gave it the thumbs up on Netflix.

I thought it was excellent throughout 👍

I'm looking to buy a new Ford Ranger Wildtrack.

These days they come with all the trimmings so not much to add or remove in terms of options.

The one I want with automatic roller comes in at 1.059.000 Baht catalogue price and with 30% down-payment you get 0% interest on the remaining installments.

The lady who served us kindly gave 20K discount off the bat without asking.

What should I expect in terms of additional discount I could negotiate. I reckon 1M baht or 39K baht extra discount should be possible.

    Thoughts gents?

Get you wife to go in herself and tell them you prefer Toyota or something but if they can give her a special deal she could persuade you to buy the Ford.
Worked for us many years ago so will obviously will depend on the dealer, also depends a lot on how well they are currently selling, if there is waiting list then not much chance of big discounts but if they say you can have the truck as soon as you buy then you have a better chance.

Ok, I went to Bangkok bank on my pc and it won't let me transfer unless I confirm a text message sent to my Thai number. My AIS number is prepaid. Is there a way to set my sim to work in the US for a day or two? I see one option is 900 baht for roaming but I'm just too cheap for that. I can transfer through PayPal to the iptv service but they charge a decent amount and I buy these services for many people so there are several transfers I do every month.

I've run into this problem twice in the last 5 years and I am looking for a more permanent solution some people may have. Like a Thai number or program that can forward through the internet. I'm surprised that they still only allow phone text confirmations and not email ones.

    Any help is appreciated.

If your Thai sim is with AIS put it temporarily in your phone then you can set ‘Wi-Fi calling’ in the phone settings and disable cellular signal. You can then receive texts on your Thai phone without roaming charges etc. That works on IPhones not sure about android.

To me the important things were

    0. Family room for a couple with a baby

    1. Space (minimum 70m2)

    2. 1 or 2 bedroom suite so I could get some work done

    3. Good food reviews by ASQ guests

    4. A balcony

    5. Possibility to leave your room after 1st negative covid test.

Many places ticked all boxes but only Ananatara Riverside offered a balcony out of those hotels that met my requirements.

I did a lot of research beforehand by emailing with hotels and checking FB Groups for reviews.

In my experience the 2 weeks went quite fast but I was busy during weekdays while bored out of my skull in the weekends without booze and entertainment other than the telly. If you get bored easily prepare for it be bringing books, a PS4 or whatever you need to keep your mind off being locked in a room for 2 weeks.

As for cost, I'd fork out the extra if I were you to at least be comfortable with a belly full of nice food and some fresh air while you do your quarantine.

My mate stayed at the same place, his room had a huge balcony on 2 sides which he said made a huge difference to him for walking around, getting fresh air etc.

  7. I’ve just started using airtvworld.com instead of HDPrime as I was getting a lot of buffering during big  events, F1, MotoGP etc.
Did a 3 day trial of airtv and was impressed, never had a single buffering and the picture quality is excellent, also has catch-up and movie/series video on demand.
A bit more expensive at €28 month or can pay a year for €170 but worth it for me for the quality and no mad panic trying to find another server just when the action is starting 😂

  8. I’ve just started using airtvworld for live tv on my android box.
It is excellent compared with others I have used but not cheap, about 170 Euros per year of 28 per month.
You do need quite a high spec box for it to run on, I guess anything above 2000 baht is probably fast enough 😁
