huh ? in all my years of travel her before retireing here i have never gotten a Visa on arrival. I had always arrived and gotten a visa exempt stamp for 30 days

    …sorry wrong terminology

    “Visa exempt upon arrival ”

And per info above, looks like no additional paperwork or online requirements for visa.  …only the Thai Pass

I am in Bangkok for a few days and things are really opening up here Soi 4 bars morning night Strikers Hillary's and others are wide open and busy lots of girls lots of customers. Still no Nana in cowboy but the rest of the town is busy as well. I've been on a SkyTrain a few times during non-peak hour and still had to stand up. I'm staying near soi 11 and Sukhumvit I went out last night to get something at 7-Eleven and the traffic was unbelievable. It will happen in Pattaya at some point sooner than later I believe.

…sooner, like prior to New Year’s sooner??? Or before Chinese NY?

I would like to think that you were being ironic, amusing, tongue in cheek?

Except I fear you actually believe what you stated.

"Lets book two weeks in Pattaya to go shopping" 🤣

Trust me, the overwhelming number of visitors from the "western" world see having a few (often a good few) alcoholic drinks with friends both old and new in Pattaya's bars, clubs and GoGo's as an essential part of the whole  package. The continued absence of such will continue to have the opposite effect.

Yup, leaving tomorrow for San Diego.  Will walk over to Mexico and have my buddy who’s working remotely in TJ pick me up at the boarder.   Spend some time eating and drinking in Tijuana and hitting the bars.  After a week of that nonsense, will visit some retired friends in Ensenada & Rosarito. After that, fly over to Puerto Vallarta to see a college buddy and spend some time by the beach, the sun and umbrella drinks.  Probably bars at night.

…will evaluate the situation in LOS in Dec and decide then whether I come back this high season or hold off further

    Search this lady on fakebook.

I believe these are thai based policies that cover the relevant covid requirements

Not a recommendation,  just broker who often offers insurance in various UK based fakebook groups where the question is asked ad nauseum. No idea if she covers Americans.

    Thanks!

just chatted with her and got the scoop and policy that best fits my needs 😉

    A. You can only extend the once, but things may be diffent in current times.

    B. You can stay as long as you like as long as you obtain the relevant visa mate.

    B.  Well, I can’t get a retirement or marriage visa.  I’m currently not on a work visa….any other options available???

  8. A.   I am allowed 30 days + a renewal stay of 30 extra days?

Could I renew again for a second time for a total of 90 days?

    B.  What is the maximum number of days i can be in Thailand over a 6 month period?

…does that period reset if i were to fly outta tge country for a few days prior to returning?

From  a UK tourism perspective it is, unless Thailand gets removed off the red list pretty sharpish. The Govt review the travel list every 3 weeks apparently, so that rules out August and a chunk of Sept. That is unless the visiting person wants a 10 day quarantine costing £2285 on top of their holiday cost.

…yup, any quarantine & mountain of paperwork is just too much for myself.

If Thailand/PM & his cabinet really wants me, I’m more than ready to arrive.

…makes me think back to last week when his cabinet suggested all mall employees be “fully faxed” & “tested” every 5-7 days.   It was amazing how quick the blow-back was.

The decision makers seem to be absolutely clueless…just adding & making things up along the way

Pattaya and Hua Hin proposals for restricted October opening are supposed to go before the CCSA next week, so not lost completely yet IMO.

Yup, saw that too.  But restricted openings may favor people with boots on the ground or neighboring asian countries.

When the PM back tracks on the National plans to open the Kingdom…it does not give me the vote of confidence needed to continue with my plans to arrive before the year ends.  My friends are a lot more bullish and booked both flights & hotels already

The good news continues. Thailand (14,66) and Chonburi (745) continue to show lower daily infection cases.

liking the trend, but not liking the news coming out of Prayut’s camp.  It says, he says the Oct 14th planned 120 day opening may be pushed back.

…are we headed for repeated push backs???   is 2021 lost completely???

Sadly, for an ever increasing number of Thai's actual "survival" would appear to be the receipt of charitable donations of food parcels.

Same here in the states.  I live in a upper scale neighborhood of Seattle, close to the Microsoft main campus & Google satellite office & never seen such a long line of people waiting for the free lunch handout over at the Salvation Army as I was dropping off cases of dried goods.

Among the preliminary proposals are easing some quasi-lockdown rules next month and replication of a tourism-reopening project in October based on a pilot project in Phuket. Other planned measures weren’t announced.

…well, I’m hoping it’s not like the sandbox model.  Way too many hoops & paperwork to go through.

I need to get back and although I skipped coming back when they increased the ASQ from 7 back to the original 14 days….I can’t wait around too much long.  I’ll probably have to bite the bullet later this year and come back regardless of the hoops I have to jump through.
