Here's a good detailed map of Samui.

    koh-samui-island-map-1.jpg

On the east side you have 'bustling' Chaweng and right beneath it the more chilled out Lamai. Us hi-sos will be staying in between at the Yacht club. You can find the airport just above Chaweng.

Bophut and Maenam on the north side of the island are also quite busy with several piers where ferries from the mainland come in I believe. You will also find the fishing village there which is a nice spot to go for lunch. The west and south are much quieter and house some luxury resorts and bars like Nikki Beach.

As said, you can easily drive around the island but as the map shows you can also drive across over the steep hills in the heart of the island. It's really nice to drive around on a bike with many viewpoints high and low.

Used to know the island like the back of my hand it's brilliant for a bike ride Bophut was always a decent place to go ..

The Big Buddha and easy access for Phanghan if you fancy the ferry too.

Koh Nangyuan is a nice place to visit too

I appreciate that Roo but Christ , these guys are multi millionaires already and the thought of me paying £100 and more for what would be standing tickets is too much.

Added the cost of a few beers and maybe a t shirt ....that's a third of a decent priced plane ticket to bkk! , or at least 2 trips to sweden for me.

You're right of course especially if you have to stay over too add in fuel, train fair , hotel (in Manchester they charge near double when there is someone decent on in town too)

I think it's more the promoters that have a say in the ticket prices etc too

Yeah, most people don't wanna buy music so the only way they can make money is concerts and merchandise.I'm old school and still buy CD's as i think the artist deserves to be paid for their work.Would be like us not getting paid at work at the end of the week.

If it's someone I really like I'd rather have the CD..

Used to be all part of it reading the inner sleeve on the vinyl (or cd) with downloads you own nothing .

Just found out that Metallica will play the Etihad in Manchester .

Just found out the ticket price plus the booking fee will be £100 +

just decided my days of paying silly money for gigs has ended !

Reckon your gonna pay that for most big names now mate especially in somewhere like The Etihad (I watched JZ Beyonce there in June)

Don't make any money from records/cd's anymore so charge fortunes for concerts.

  5. Just watched the second one to this on BBC4 but this is the first from last week.

Pretty good could have been a lot better , but there is a lot of good scenes in it from the beginnings in New York, Chicago and U.K

Tonight's was good for real scenes of raves in U.K

Only problem is now I wanna go out and all this is no longer there 😂😂😂🤣🤣

Never been to Samui. Would be interested to hear thoughts on it. Worth a butchers, expensive, good nightlife?

Not been since 05 but I spent six months there and rented a bungalow in Chewang..

The nightlife used to be good on Soi Green Mango and everyone was real friendly also Chewang has bars on the beach the best being Ark Bar back then (I think still)

Lamai was good too and had a lot of girly bars.

Myself back then I preferred Chewang I was in my early 30s and loved the club feel of Chewang ..

Am thinking of visiting for a few days in April not sure yet...

The only problem with Samui is it pissed down a lot and when it floods it floods.

Prob been built up a lot in 14 years though by the time I get back.

If I do go I'm gonna drive from Phuket and get the ferry , six hour drive or so but it will be an adventure .

I saw Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and Paul Weller at Bristol Downs a few weeks ago.

Was gonna go see Liam in August with Richard Ashcroft at Manchester Cricket Club , but it was the day before my son's birthday so decided against it I wouldn't have been able to function the day after 😂

Same as Roomark .....Roger Waters in Manchester . My mate has some sort of bone disease and what is normally a 5 minute walk from the car park to the venue entrance took 40 minutes . I had to have my arm around him all the way there and all the way back . We both loved the gig and when I got him home he told me he would take his walking frame next time ! Wtf ! Bit like that character played by Matt Lucas . " yea I know " .

I parked on the arena itself that day pre-booked it and turned up at 3pm because someone was meant to be buying my ticket off FB he then called me to say he couldn't make it 😭😭😭

    I wouldn't mind I turned down £95 on E Bay like a dick.

I asked a tout in the end and he offered me £10 so I told him to f*** off and kept it in my pocket still got it to this day lol

The concert was good, but not £220 worth haha.

Happy Mondays and The Farm at a one day festival thing down near Balham last summer.

There were other bands as well, though that's who I specifically went to see.

Hit Bez with a half empty water bottle, everyone was launching them at him on stage, and he was having fun booting them back into the crowd.

Saw The Mondays in 90 and 93 and I do follow their FB page, but I saw a pic of Bez now shaking his Marracas and WOW it looks like someone's Grandad up on stage trying to bounce about looked strangely wrong 🤣🤣🤣

Loved them in the day though

  10. June I saw Jay Z and Beyonce at The Etihad and got upgraded to Club Carter (front stage VIP) never seen so many good looking people 😂😂🤣🤣🤣

A few weeks later I went to see Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) at The Manchester Arena I had a spare for that too, four rows from the front but no one wanted to come because it was midweek and the same day as the England game.

    Both gigs brilliant.

What I like about those Kia models is they are fully loaded with kit for a third of the price of the German cars ( in the UK that is). I will look at these when changing my vehicle.

Loads of kit for the money and a 7 year warranty..

I drive The Sportage 3 , though I may well change it next year I'd get another Kia in a heartbeat but I'm not too sure yet.

I once bought an old bible when pissed/high on ebay when i was deep in my addiction days.Thought it held the answer to sorting my life out and get me on the straight and narrow.

Few day later the postman knocked on the door.Took it off him and threw it straight in the bin by the front door.He did give me a strange look lol.

    Drunken ebaying,can't beat it.😀

Also bid £1700 on an Aprilia Millie 1000cc bike when pissed but luckily got outbid.😀

    Bless you my son 🤣🤣🤣

I'd not been on one for years then only last month had a go on one and i was all over the place...

    Lol

I re-made that one myself with all the classic parts (can buy on E Bay etc) been on the local BMX track with my lads for a laugh on it too though I nearly killed myself round the track on the first jump 🤣🤣

Saw someone on an original Raleigh Chopper the other day and it got me thinking 🤔🤣🤣

You'd be surprised the classic bikes go for small fortunes now.
