If they have been allowed the bankruptcy through the courts do they still owe those that they once did ?

I am not saying  they do not just figured they would have had previous debts wiped out when the bankruptcy was approved.

I would say previous debts are wiped. Not sure though.

The travel agent I booked through refuses to take any responsibility.

It's more of a restructuring as protection against bankruptcy. As a result of that restructuring they are back in profit.

Depending on what was approved by the court then it is by no means certain previous debts have been wiped and I would have thought unlikely.

However Grogmonster it does not look so good for you as you did not book direct with Thai Airways. They are still offering refunds in the form of extended travel vouchers for people who booked direct. I was going to suggest that if your travel agent is refusing responsibility take it up with their governing body. If you are in Australia that would be ATAS but having just had a very quick look at their website they appear to be spouting a load of bollocks. In any event you will not get your money back but could still get a travel voucher if you push hard and aggressively for it.

Two words for you Murphy bed. There's a good shop in Jomtien at Soi Wat Boon Kanjanaram, near the Atlantis Condo complex.

Here's a link to a website they use, their supplier partner.

    https://www.wallbedfurnitureshop.asia/

    Good luck

I dislike Murphy beds because you have to push them up and pull them down every day and that will mess up the bed linen. I want my bed ready and waiting for me at a second's notice. Plus I'd be nervous about the damn thing flying back up into the wall in the middle of the night and trapping me upside down slowly suffocating!

Not for me either , but they get 13million viewers , so a few people enjoy it

Of course they do. I can't believe some of the Saturday night crap I used to watch back in the 70's/80's but these days I prefer violence, sex, crime, cookery, dark comedy and the odd good BBC drama.

Anne Widdecombe dancing round like a yellow banana just don't cut it for me anymore.

Just been reading an article about who is entering the next edition of 'Strictly Come Dancing'.  Now I will say at this point I have never watched this program and I still won't after reading who the 'celebrities' will be (note small letters).

It appears that I must be an out of touch dinosaur who is obviously not part of the demographic the show is aimed at because the only 'celebrity' (note I still use small letters) that I appear to know is a guy called Dan Walker who is a BBC morning TV presenter.

I can't think of any reason to watch the show although I have seen pictures of some of the female dancing partners that might be worth no more than 5 minutes.

Same. I barely know any of these people who are apparently celebrities in some parallel universe in which I don't exist. I detest the 'celebrity' versions of shows at the best of times but seeing these publicity seeking nonentities 'dancing' like plonkers has got to be the ultimate nightmare of banality and utter shiite time wasting. 🤮

The Mermaidium in Nana Plaza , on the ground floor LHS , has huge tanks of water around the walls , the naked mermaids would dive for 5 and 10 Baht coins ....

again in Nana on the First floor a very small GoGo , that played rock music , Sexy Night .... had some diamonds from there over the years

lastly Buckskin Joe Village , later called Soi Zero ...a group of bars just across the railway tracks at the bottom of Sukumvit- I always had a brilliant time there after I was GoGoed out - Det5 was probably the most famous the the bars there and seems to be still going ( now in Soi 8 )

some good pics on their site

Yes Det5 has been on Soi 8 for some years now, owned by a Belgian called Bob and his wife. Not sure if he was the original owner on Soi Zero.

The Mermaidium must be going back many years now (last century)?

  6. I hope Butch does not mind me riding on the coat tails of his post of the same name except this is about Bangkok. Same sort of criteria, can be any establishment from any time period, but limited to 3.

    For me:

Long Gun, Soi Cowboy - Now officially Lucky Star but to me, and no doubt many, it will always be Long Gun. By the standards of Tilac and Baccara it is a throwback to an earlier pioneering time. The girls, a mixed bunch of hotties and lukewarmies, were raucous and generally fun. The toilets were the pits but that was part of the charm. The girls had their lockers in the toilets and there was always an elderly lady sitting on a sofa in there. Many a happy night in there and many bar fines over the years.

The Biergarten, Soi 7 - Rumours of its imminent demise have been circulating for decades but it clings on tenaciously as one of the great survivors of the BKK nightlife. It was a great place for afternoon fun. Back in the earlier part of this century the bar would be heaving with FL's and punters in the late afternoon / early evening with the FL's usually seriously outnumbering the punters. I haven't been there in a few years now and its reputation goes up and down with the seasons. I hope, for old times sake, it survives and rises to its previous heights once more.

Spankys - One of the better smaller gogos in Nana Plaza. Always fun and a buzzing atmosphere. I just wish those spanking truncheons the girls carry were capable of actually inflicting a bit of pain 😎

Damn, it's hard to stick to just three but there you go.

Our North American BM, will surely remember this man from Night Court. Charlie Robinson, who played Mac, the court clerk who always wore those cardigans,  has passed at 75

I remember him and Night Court from the 80's (North American resident at time). John Larroquette's prosecutor was always my favourite character.

    RIP Mac.

Just read the awful news that Dave Barwise aka Barsie is dead aged 39.

Loads of BMs on here knew him from Secrets days and Phil's bar later.

Think the Pretty Bitch may have introduced him to his lovely wife Pla. Devoted couple.

Nicest fella you could wish to meet was Dave a gentle soul.

RIP young Barsie at least you'll have plenty of luggage for your next journey.

Devastated! Dave was far too young and with so much to live for. RIP.

Gutted for poor Pla, she is such a lovely lady.

Yep. No businesses in site - anywhere in that graphic and who wants to see drainage pipes.

Its just showing the 'infrastructure' works proposed, include the removal of overhead cables etc - not the expected street view upon completion.

    Err - hopefully any. 😋

It had me scratching my head there for a minute wondering where all the bars had gone and why they were building a subway system for dwarfs.

  10. Usually hotels for me as I like room cleaned and bed linen changed every day. Soi 13 is an excellent location and I have stayed at both the Dynasty Inn and the Whitehouse Condotel. Sorry Butch cannot give you rates for the latter as not stayed there for 4 + years. Dynasty rooms could do with a refurbishment (unless done since 2019) but I never had any complaints there, friendly staff. Last trip I tried the Deep Blue Z10 on Soi 10, next to Sea Me Spring Too hotel. It was a fairly new hotel at the time so all was spic and span, but the room I had was small. I made sure to barfine only petite little spinners to fit in the room and it worked out fine.

One of my longer stays I stayed in a private condo in Jomtien owned by a friend and that gave me a chance to get to know Jomtien. 1 minute walk to beach, seaview and close to all amenities.
