I spent many years visiting the Philippines from Mindanao to Sagada in the North. Here's a couple of pics of the 'hanging coffins of Sagada' that I took in 2007....

sorry if I offended you with my attempt at humour, I didn't mean to sully the memory of your Father and the sacrifices he and his generation made for all of us.
I really didn't mean anything by it. Apologies.
No problem, I wasn't offended at all 😀

My Wife's grandfather died during construction of that Railway.
He fell out of his guard tower.
Out of his guard tower, Japanese?
My father was shot, wounded and left for dead by the Japanese during the battle for Hill 170, Arakan, Burma in 1945. Thankfully he survived otherwise I wouldn't be here, although he never forgave them.

As older businesses close on Soi Pothole there is always someone ready to buy, renovate and open it as a new bar. The soi appears to be saturated with bars, most appear to me not to be covering their overheads.
I was in Pattaya December/January, high season allegedly, ok there are punters around but most bars were empty or had just a few customers at most. A birthday party might bring in a busy evening with many balloon chasers but next night it is back to normal (dead), how do they survive?
I spend most of my drinking time in Soi Pothole, I do like the place but wonder how the bars will fare during the low season.

Are You Pounding Too Many Beers Lately ?

I have curtailed my consumption of alcohol these days, it is only on my trips abroad and then in Thailand I stick to the beer. Three to four trips a year for 3-4 weeks at a time, once back in the UK I do not touch any booze until I return to the airport to catch the Emirates flight back to Thailand.
I know I would be an alcoholic if I continued drinking at home.
Back to Patts next week with a side trip booked to Siem Reap....
