  1. An acquaintance is concerned for his older friend who wants to get married and asked me some questions which I cannot answer. I would appreciate some help.

Is a pre nuptial agreement legal in Thailand and can it be effectively enforced?
If his wife has debt before marriage can the lender legally come after him for repayment?
    Ditto any debt after marriage?
The same again if her children have debts.

The only advice I have offered so far is that if he is worried about this he should ask himself why he is getting married and that he should only bring to Thailand what he can afford to lose.

  2. I want to have some casual style shirts made before I leave in March.

Can anyone recommend where to buy lightweight cotton cloth in various colours?

Ditto a seamstress or tailor? I'd prefer not to use the ubiquitous Indian tailors unless they come highly recommended having had some not so good experiences in the past.

I remember seeing an open fronted shop full of cloth which I passed on a baht bus can't remember where it was.

  3. The drop in level of Lake Mabprachan in the last month should be of great concern to the PWA.
I was told that it is now possible for a non swimmer to cross from one side to the other. If anyone wants to take pictures of storks and heron now is a good time to come out as there are many of them catching fish in the now shallows.

The kitchen at retox, soi lengkee, once the home of the 99b fried breakfast,  was being emptied today as I walked past.

I believe the container bar is remaining as a sports bar, but without food.

I have just asked Tezza Zacharides who posts the Retox menu on Facebook is the kitchen at Lengkee was closed and his reply was

"for the time being we’re just ironing a few things out"

  5. In Udon there are any number of Thai pubs and clubs which are a lot more fun than Soi Sleaze and the Cow Shed.

Soi Phibun has a some good bars and 1 club and there are a couple of good bars on the north west side of Nong Prajak park.

Soi Si Somchuen has some lively restaurants and bars.

Clubs such as Rhythm in the Napalai Hotel, Phoenix, Yellow Bird in the Charoen hotel, Tawan Daeng at the back of Central Plaza, Kongsiam Cafe for live music, 20UP a Thai beer garden.

You've hit on my sole pet hate with all airline travellers at security and their inability in 99% of cases to realise its jackets off belts off laptops out and no metal objects in your pockets. I surely cant be the only sod that dumps it all on the scanner tray and walks straight through without even looking at security knowing full well I'm clean. Shit it does annoy me lol

On my latest exit through terminal 4 at Heathrow I had all my electronics out of my carry on case ready. I was told to go right to the end and on arrival I was told to put them all back in my carry on as the new style scanners were being tested.
