My doctor said I eat too much vegies and fruit ... I got to leave some room for proteins.
Last appointment he how I was doing on protein consumption.
My first answer was what time is it; he said 1PM to which I replied that I have not had lunch yet and so was at 114%DV and with planned dinner I had calculated that I would end at 300%DV (without lunch) so fruit for lunch should be justified ... he agreed.
I have to have my fruits or will go nuts (pun). Sunday I shopped for a weekly supply of fruits: 15 oranges an dozen large apples, 10 pairs, lots of Thai chili, a pine apple, plus more. Speaking of nuts Brazil nuts (my favorite) is 10%DV for 4 nuts (no sodium, no cholesterol, but high in "good" fat).
That is my story and I will stick to it.

Can always add a protein shake to your diet - also provides amino acids as well depending on what type of protein shake. I take it on the rigs to supplement my protein intake as some meals are just too oily for my liking.

I haven't eaten there either as it's a bit out of the way for me.  It has gotten plenty of good reviews for its food.

It was the best fast-food fried chicken I've had in a long while, but I don't have it often.

Might check it out when I arrive next week - will report back if I do go 👌

Actually looks good. I don't think I've ever had chick peas served like that. They look like they could be tasty. I love a good hummis, with garlic and olive oil. Going to crack open a bin of it just now.

It’s a Indian dish - many Indian crew onboard that is vegetarian...not sure exactly what it’s called though but wasn’t bad at all. I work in Saudi so hummus is served quite regularly.

Lately, I’ve finally been able to start drinking wine again. And I’m looking for something decent to drink. I know I’ll be paying too much, but I don’t drink in bars really. So making dinner at home and cracking a bottle, or getting wine out is a  luxury I’m willing to pay for.

Any recommendations on a decent red? Mainly for drinking with dinner, and afterwards. I’ve had Mont Clair, and picked up a nice half bottle of one of the Jacob’s Creek reds. Both were enjoyable. I’m not looking for wonderful 10,000 baht bottles, but just good, satisfying everyday wine. That said, if anyone knows of any fantastic but more expensive wines, please tell me. Are any of the Thai wines worth trying?

Drifter - where in Thailand are you based? I’m heading to Pattaya end Feb for 2 weeks and passing through South Africa first, so will gladly bring you a decent bottle of red from there. No need to pay me back - don’t miNd doing a favor for someone - as long you in the Pattaya area it’s no problem. So far everyone on here has been really friendly and helpful 👌

Thanks Galenkia - already feel welcome. Not sure why my nationality is showing as American though on my profile? Any advice where to change it? Tried doing so on my profile but can only put in my birthday and some personal info.??

I lived between Zim and Joburg for a while years ago, back before Bob complety lost the plot.

Fishing  for Tiger fish up round Kariba a lot.

Worked on a few gold mines amongst other 'stuff'.

I am originally from Cape Town - seems South Africa is following in Zim’s footsteps with the land grabbing. I work rotation in Saudi Arabia currently - so not there too much...
