Completed the usual 9 hour drive to visit Sai's family in Mae Sot in the far north west of Thailand.

Look what I found in her Mum's garden.

I think my first real live gig and my last may well have both featured The Rolling Stones.

The first was at the Crawddady  in Twickenham a zillion years ago when I was still at School and the last when they performed in Bangkok.

I was being taken to both the Crawdaddy and Eel Pie Island where a local geezer called Rod Stewart was playing guitar for the Steam Packet.

I do that every morning. In fact my body clock wakes me around 5:00 am without fail. I have always been an early riser.

I make a mug of coffee, go back to bed and read my kindle until 6:15 when I let the dogs out after checking which plants they have dug up over night. Most mornings, like today, I then cycle through Bangsaray, along beach road admiring the sea view whilst the sun starts to climb up into the sky.

It is great to be alive any morning but this time of year is particularly wonderful first thing in the morning.

Well it did on Saturday.

Watched the first episode of "MotherFatherSon" last night.

It stars:

Helen McCrory as the Mother ( great in Peaky Blinders)

Richard Gere as the Father (Newspaper magnate and control freak)

and Billy Howle as the Son who my granny would have described as being completely "Do-lally-tap"

It is described as a psycho thriller and if the first episode is typical it is going to be one not to be missed. Some great acting by Billy Howle who is definitely the "psycho" in psycho thriller.

It was very busy by midnight.

The Scooters team of builders turned up around 08:00am this morning and got through an amazing amount of work by the time I left around lunchtime.

I got quite emotional.

I had to make my own cup of tea. 😀

Anyway for those that are able and have a mind to call in its Wednesday 6th March and its Party Night at Secrets and a chance to raise a final glass to the great times we Secrets folk enjoyed in times past.

Many other former Secrets members do have a choice however and maybe when they read comments like yours they decide perhaps they are not so welcome after all. But that would suit you fine, wouldn't it?

Maybe, when former Secrets members read comments  AND THREATS  like the above they come to the conclusion that perhaps they are not as welcome here as they were lead to believe by people like me who encouraged them to move to Thailand247 in the first place.

I wonder what action a Thailand247 moderator would have taken if I had posted a similar comment to the above?

I will say, the rooms really need to be cleaned up and updated. I think myself & Stax over the last few years were some of the few from the forum that actually used the bar and stayed in the hotel too, for a month at a time. Many on the forum liked the bar, but didn't seem to stay upstairs.  I could kinda understand why. I am sorry but your comment about " mostly Indians" simply is not true and I assume that when you used the words "cleaned up" you were not meaning to imply Secrets rooms are dirty.

If I was to attach a screen shot of Secrets Reservations for the next 4 weeks ( which for obvious reasons I am not going to do) you would be hard pressed to identify a single Indian guest from the names shown. I have to admit, that really surprised me but I assure you it is factually true.

Secrets Hotel has a relatively small number of loyal and regular customers of "ethnically" Indian guests from the west who are most welcome particularly as they are great guys and always are regulars in the Bar.

It is much more difficult for Indian Nationals to book and stay at Secrets because very few hold credit cards and are therfore generally unable to pay reservation deposits whether directly to Secrets or via booking agents.  Although we tend to waive deposits for all regular returning guests that is a requirement for most newbie's to Secrets Hotel.

Secrets does use booking Agents such as Expedia and Agoda however their rates are only attractive if  prospective customers can take advantage of the promotional rates agreed between Secrets and the booking agents. The Indian continent is one of those excluded from such promotions.

I really only watch TV series and sport.

There have been a couple of times I have come across a whole completed series that I have not previously watched and then done 13 episodes in two nights. .

When I was a wee kid I used to go to Saturday morning Kids cinema and they always had a series which ended with something like a train  about to go over a broken bridge and I used to hate having to wait a week to find out somebody moved the points at the last minute!

Somebody recommended "The Wire" to me which I immediately got hooked on () and I think there was about three series of that  which I got stuck into. That also  featured Idris Elba if I remember correctly.

My main private pension is offshore.

Firstly, they will not pay me more frequently than quarterly which was okay with me but no good for the new rules coming out of Immigration.

Secondly, as far as general administration is concerned they are totally useless.

My quarterly payment is due on the 4th of the particular month it falls due. My most recent quarterly payment fell due on the 4th February (as it happens) and finally reached my bank account on the 17th February. That is a new personal low although it has been anytime between the 4th ( once only) and now the 17th. Not once have they ever apologised for paying late as there attitude seems to be "don't worry - we will get round to it soon." 😧

It has to be the 800K route for me.

Now THAT is rock and roll and one hell of a live performance!
