The beach close to where we were staying in Koh Chang.

Hi Jambo,
How did you rate the Koh Chang Resort and do you have a link to the place as there are a few places with similar names.
Cheers Groggy.
I booked it through Expedia as they had a good offer on at the time. If you enter "Koh Chang Resort" into their booking site it should throw up the right hotel.
It was okay but the big downer for me was the fact that the internet in the room was terrible. We had to use Sai's phone as a "hot spot" so I could connect my lap top.
They advertise the rooms as having a flat screen TV which is incorrect. As it happens I did not take my media player but I would have been well pissed off if I had wanted to watch the Gooners. On the other hand, as the internet was so poor I would not have been able to get connected anyway.
Food was good and we loved eating on the tables on the beach. No mossies at all.
Drinks at the Hotel's beach Bar were reasonably priced.
The private beach got very busy during the day and by 10.00am all the sun beds had been taken. We just moved ourselves to the adjacent beach. The beds were not as comfortable but okay for us.
If you stay there make sure you book a room or bungalow on the beach side of the road. The "Hillside" rooms on the other side of the main drag are up a bloody steep hill.
In all honesty, I would not go back to that particular hotel unless I was absolutely certain they had improved the internet. I need to log into the reservation system for an hour or two each day but if that is not a factor then it is not a bad location.
You will need your own transport to get around.

Do you take a bath every Sunday?
Only if it is leap year.

Just returned from my morning cycle ride with some BBQ pork for the dogs.
No point in having dogs if you do not spoil them.
Anyway, it is there bath day and they hate that so they get a treat in advance. 😀

It was farewell to Koh Chang this morning.
Had a great wee trip away with Sai.
As ths car ferry pulled away
I noticed these trees growing happily in the sea.
I did not know that trees could grow and flourish in seawater?
I don't think I have ever seen trees in seawater ever before.
It caused Sai and I to have a 60 second in depth discussion about adaptation, mutation, genetics, global warming and brexit.
I summed up by stating that I was a 3 million year example of the process of the survival of the fittest.
fooking scary that!

My lovely wife would not let me go because she has seen first hand the pussy floating around.
So I had better not tell her.

The Album brings back so many happy memories for me.
I bought the CD to take on holiday with me to Spain which turned out to be the last one with my wife before she became what turned out to be terminally ill.
We had a great time but I look back and think how could somebody so young, who everybody liked, get Alzheimers? It is just not fair!

Hi Alf,
I have been meaning for ages to get away for a few days with Sai and Alf your topic has inspired me to do just that and this week.
Been before with Sai to Koh Chang and enjoyed it but not where we stayed in WSB.
So we will be staying near to you at Koh Chang Resort which looks okay and is on the beach.
Three night stay from Wednesday so look forward to seeing you again.

It was always going to be a shite repair job anyway. TIT 😟
They dug right across the main soi that leads from my house in Bangsaray to the Sukhumvit road to put in some water mains.
They then just " repaired" the road by spreading the gravel they dug out to cover up the pipe and left it like that. Within a couple of days you had to wieve a motorbike around the pot holes. It has been like that for months. Ever so often they dump some more loose gravel on top which does not last even 24 hours if it rains or two or three days if it stays dry.
If you manage to reach the Sukhumvit and drive in the direction of Pattaya it is always safer to stay on the hard shoulder because cars drive so fast on that stretch and undertake constantly. Except, there is one spot on the hard shoulder which us regulars know about where there is a very large pot hole right across the hard shoulder so we all have to move into the left hand carriageway like it or not. If you do not know it is there it is deep enough to maybe throw one off or alternatively a last minute move onto the main carriageway. It has been like that for months too.
There are examples like that everywhere.

One person who has been a constant behind the scenes fixture is Sith who has seen off every usurper in the Kitchen is once again running the show. I do not have a photo of Sith and it would be good if somebody can add one.
I was sure that he must be fed up with producing the same food night after night so one day we asked him to produce a seafood dinner for us. What he produced was excellent and this was the centre piece.

This i am doubting as there is another thread running somewhere on the forum that most of the replys to how important farang bar managers are that it is not at all important at all.
So all the years you were Secrets Bar Manager had no influence on the numbers of customers?
Of course you did.
A good Manager has a positive influence on everything that goes on in the Bar and most particularly the attitude of the staff and thus service to customers which is absolutely paramount to a successful Bar.

And sadly it seems to be void of any customers
No consistency but a good night yesterday.
The lack of a full time farlang Bar Manager is a big negative influence.
One of the many positives of the forthcoming association with Scooters is that they bring an experienced Manager to Scooters at Secrets. Several of their guys in yesterday with tape measures making copious notes.
In the interim you have got time on your hands.
Want to sit around in Secrets three nights a week holding court as a customer? Free food and drinks and we will throw in the odd pillow biter without b/fine charge.
