  1. I didn't know the guy. But I wish him the best and thoughts go to those who are friends and/or associates of him, and of course to his family.

A couple things to mention here and I apologize in advance if it comes off differently than what my intentions are.... Which is to make share some thoughts and observations relating to several different things related that have been mentioned in this story.

---- The insurance policies offered here which are pretty much dictated by Thai law are woefully limited. Due to pre-existing condition exceptions. Also.... I am not sure what exclusions there are for attempted suicide and injuries sustained following.

I guess my point is that even if someone paid for the highest coverage available. If the policy has exclusions for diabeties and/or suicide.... whether the person had/has insurance you may not be covered.

----- There is a certain level of care that has to be provided to anyone hospitalized. Up to a point. The hospitals, health care system has to provide, whether they have insurance or not. But what level the quality of care may be might be limited. Also, they can't release you until another care institution can assume care or you can care for yourself. I am not sure on the law as far as out of the country asset recovery for the costs associated. But I would reckon that it wouldn't be easy for these institutions who are providing care would be able to recover much (if anything). They are stuck IMO, and the home country isn't going to me in any hurry to arrange for him to return.... unless he already had very good insurance coverage back home or with his employer.

--- Suicide and domestic violence is for sure beginning to rear it's head. There has been a long lag time following the start of Corona. Now it is catching up and we are really seeing a spike in the hardships and economic challenges the World confronts. Most of this has been predictable. I am actually surprised it has taken so long to see the upward trend. But, it is here now, and will continue to get worse in the upcoming months.

i sure hope those who are in difficult circumstances reach out and be willing to seek assistance, because sometimes all it takes is a few week/months before the tide turns.

The lag and effects from this historic pandemic are really catching up. Try to develop coping mechanisms to get through the next few months as hopefully things will begin to head in a better direction.

I may try something like this at some point. But.... I am a true tech anxiety case at times. I have limited stress capacity when dealing with some of this stuff. So I have to manage the amount of time I have when dealing with anything tech related - or t.v.'s, phones, computers would be flying out the window.

Recently I got my first "smart" t.v. At first I hated it, but now I am digging it. At the present time I am very content with just Youtube, but I can see that soon I will need to be expanding my options.

Others have tried to convince me this is the way to go when wanting to see TV from around the world. I have seen boxes all over the place all difference prices and IPTV service as well at all different price levels depending on what you want to see. My question is why do i need a box ? Or why does any one for that matter?

I have been downloading torrents for years using P Torrents. I have always been a donor to their site as it has served me well. about 6 months ago when i went into their web site i saw a Ad for their IPTV service. No box needed ll seen thru the free VLC media player that can be downloaded on line. The torrent site is free but you have to be a donor to get the IPTV service. They walk you thru the process to get started and it is very very easy. I donate 10 US a month or about 300 Baht and get this service. I have seen some services that need a box cheaper and some costing more. It is very good for me I am running  PCs all connected to a 55 in Big screen TV as well as a 32in TV which i use as my Monitor. So the TV signal can be broadcast thru either or both. In Thailand no VPN needed and I do not have fiber connection but the old ADSL 50 download 20 upload from True. This service offers you channels in SD HD or UHD so slower PC connections using SD have no issues. I experience very very little problem with Buffering or freezeing when i do i simply click off and back in no problem. I have had this service for about 6 months. Running the 2 TVs I am ale to see 2 different channels same time. Yesterday I watched The Sunday night football game on one and the Baseball World Series sample video below. All PPV broadcasts thousands of Movies Thousands of Porn movies.

I have seen guys posting on Facebook about having their boxes updated well thats a problem i never will face. Here is a list of the channels that can be had.

after you select the channel group you want you see this

    8.png9.png

Then click the upload button and the file with all the channels is uploaded to your PC and can be viewed thru VLC media player and will look like this

Then just click on the station in the group you want to watch. I was teasing Striderman who is a Newcastle fan that I was watching in Ultra HD and he could not see it.

Here is a video of the games yesterday he picture looks distorted but thats due the the editing I needed to do here to post it

So can anyone tell me why I would ever need a Android box ?

"No other kinds once you've tried Heinz?" lol....I tend to stick to the same brands for condiments I've been using forever - like Heinz ketchup - but for most other foods I'll usually go for the best deals and don't pay much attention to the labels.

    Funny....

When I saw the title of the thread my first thought was Heinz ketchup.

Trying to think of other name brand only now.

Hebrew hot dogs.... Once I had can never go back. I will eat other hot dogs but not buy any other brand for the homestead.

in all of my dealings with Immigration never filed one of these or been asked for one.

In order to get a drivers license they say you need a residency certificate (or so I'm told), in order to get a residency certificate they say you need a copy of up to date tm.30 (or so I'm told).

  6. I thought since it is the week of Thanksgiving and thus the beginning of the holiday season that I would hoist my new Festivus pole in celebration.

This year I decided to adorn it with some new ornaments.

    Tis the season !!!

My Mrs works in a Nursing home over here in U.K (I posted before about her getting Covid and fortunately me and the kids missed it)

After the home missing it since March with no problems it's literally just ripped through there .Five of the staff including her got it and were ok, one ended up in the hospital but twelve of the old folks have died from it with two more suffering from it as we speak.

She has gone literally in the past couple of weeks from a bubbly happy person and a brilliant Mother to our kids to a nervous wreck I can see it in her . Fortunately she is opening up about it all (thankfully) she's having nightmares every night too.

She said it's like a movie, but real life and some of the old folks are confused wanting to know where all their friends have gone.

There were only 28 to begin with ..

    What a horrible time.

In a hospital it's bad enough to see death, but when you have a connection with the people who are dying (some have lived in the home for years) it's got to be horrible.

I'm hoping 2021 will turn around for every single one of us .🙏

It is unreal mate to be on the front lines like this. The stress factor is unimaginable and nobody who hasn't been there themselves can truly relate.

Stay strong and continue to give here every ounce of support you can. Your wife is one of the front line people who is shouldering 90 % of the stress. If her and her fellow health care workers begin to crack we all go down.

I get so incredibly angry at those who downplay all of this. At this moment i would rip their face off if they were in front of me. My apologies, but those folks can go f**k themselves. They are beyond selfish shitbags. More like non human, like fucking soi dogs sniffing a garbage pile.

  8. Sorry - but Pattaya is a bombed out war zone. Some exceptions like Terminal 21.

But really when you are on the ground there you not only see the decimation but actually feel it in your gut. It becomes difficult to fathom where in Dog's name will the money come from to rebuild many of those businesses and neighborhoods.

Economic scars run deep. Sometimes take decades to recover and attract big investment money.

Just look at what they call the Rust Belt in the U.S. and the Motor City (Detroit). Town after town after town of old burned out rusty factories still rotting in the sun. Never to return.

Pattaya was teetering before covid. I just don't see the investment money coming back in the amounts it would be necessary to spruce up the place enough to attract and retain mid scale or hi-so vacationers.

I mean they may be able to slap together some of those chink and ruskie tour groups but 90% of those folks will never return once they see the dust, grim and busted out windows.

The only building going on now has got to be money that was dedicated before the shit hit the fan (example The Base). And even with that money you have to wonder if it was just a wash job, or a write off. Once those projects are finished I find it hard to imagine any new money coming in.

f**k me, I could be wrong. I hope I am. And Dog bless them if they are going to be able to come up with some big money investors in the years to follow. If they do I tip my hat to their marketing people.

thats your link BTW but for some reason when you posted it it was in plain text not a link

It seems as if things are getting worse all over the world.

Reality is record numbers in the U.S. (ave. 2,000 deaths/day and climbing). Europe - similar. Probably all hell breaking out in Asia, but they are keeping a lid on the media.

It's going to take months for that vaccine to be finally cleared and distributed. And then months more before things settle down following that.

And if those vaccines don't work or there is some kind of major hiccup the worlds citizens will really lose confidence, and then Holy Moly no telling what kind of shit will be hitting the fan.

Most of the time the fish stayed away from our feet but drop anything into the pool and it was a veritable feeding frenzy. There are a couple of largish catfish and they do tickle your feet. 😀

    Your own transport is essential.

It was a 1 1/2 hour drive from Mae Sot to the hot spring we visited much of it off any main road.

From Tak to Mae Sot is 80 kms and like driving in the Swiss Alps. It used to be the most dangerous road in Thailand until they spent 4 years or so creating a duel carriageway which has turned it into the fastest, most dangerous road in Thailand. It has two escape "roads" for lorries whose brakes fail. It would be incredibly exciting to do it on a real motorbike but the blind bends are scary enough in a car! 🤣

ouch....   I may have to take a pass. Dangerous roads and long drives in unknown areas are not my thing anymore.

After an incredibly frightening drive I took in the Costa Rican mountains back in the 90's. I've never been so certain that I was going to die when I hit some thick fog. I promised myself - never again.

I find it very sad to see all the Thai massage ladies way past their sell by date and sitting outside the massage shops with little if any chance of hooking a customer.

There are the odd exceptions near the L K Metro area on Soi Bukhouw next to the Sutus Ct Hotel.....................................so they tell me.😀

Yes... same up here in CM. I always pick up my pace a bit as I walk past. I feel sorry for them. Wondering how they are even getting enough to eat.

I was reading recently in many areas hotel occupancies are down as low as 10-20%. Now how in the f**k can that be sustained over more than a year. So many places that just will not be able to recover. The subsidies will have to be massive. How can the government handle such a debt load ?

  12. When I lived in the inner city of Chicago (Near North side actually) I would come out of my building around 0630 walking to work. I'd look down the long straight street which dead ended at Lake Michigan. At that time of day I could see the ash that had accumulated on the parked cars, even after only one day.

As I looked further down the street I could see various spots where the broken glass from the busted out car windows lay on the pavement. The angle of the sun that time of day would reflect off the glass covered in the morning dew.

Ahhhh, I would think to myself. Another wonderful day ahead of me.

  13. Oh my, that looks absolutely lovely. And looks like a fairly straight shot down from Chiang Mai. I could bus down there fairly easy I'd reckon. Spend a couple nights there and then head down to Patts for 2 or 3 nights, then fly back using air miles. This just gave me an excellent idea. Thanks Jambo.

BTW - one of my favorite things is my daily hot bath. I have become so attached to the relaxation that I doubt I can have a place in the future without a good bathtub. Almost unthinkable for me anymore to not have one.

Jambo, do you know if the train goes through there ?

  14. A couple of smiling happy blokes I look forward to seeing again soon.

Love the new spectacles Larry !

I always get a kick watching Phil's eyes as a girl walks by. Never misses one of them.... 5555

Great stuff. Looking forward to the next one.
