My advice to you mate is to advise your insurer just to be on the safe side. What you say is technically correct but how well have you read and understand the policy conditions ?

Para 2 - Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ?????????????????? maybe not in the US but elsewhere in the world, you need to know for definite.

Just read again my policy and no requirement to disclose conditions after the insurance has gone into effect. There's also the fact that on renewal there's no provision for declaring medical issues that arose in the prior year of coverage.

My point is, when Eddy hopefully gets better, should he still tell his insurer about this or wait until the renewal of his policy and declare it then?

Possibly a big increase in his premiums I reckon. But needs must.

Good question. I've had my current policy for about 14 years. About four years ago I started on meds for high BP, but never informed my insurance company. Never even considered that I should as it's not a pre-existing condition. I doubt it's a requirement of the policy to notify the insurance company, but I would welcome a correction on that from anyone that knows otherwise.

I also don't believe submitting and collecting on a health insurance claim would affect future premiums. That's never been the case dealing with the US health care and insurance based system.

  3. Had a laugh when the old lady asks her son Gary to come to the door. That's my name as well, and I too had a bedroom in my parent's basement. And if you haven't guessed by now based on my board name, I'm very much into SciFi.

    Indeed..

TPN video of the fire at Centre Condo near Wat Chai used a drone going along the front showing rooms with the curtains open...

I'm sure I'm not the only perve that was disappointed .....

I just had a look at new posts over on PA and read one that identified the owner of the condo that caught fire as a longtime and frequent poster on PA.

He had announced recently that after 15 years here he was heading back to the UK and had thrown a fckoff party for himself at Sapphire last Sunday.

The good news is he's ok and escaped with only minor burns.

  5. I've been to Yellowstone many times, backpacking and hiking the trails in the park and whitewater boating the area rivers. Just an outstandingly beautiful area.

Me and my boating buddy had a favorite stupid human trick we liked to pull while in the park.

While driving through the park we'd pull over, jump out of our truck and just stand there and point off into the distance. Within a short time we'd have a gaggle of vehicles of all sorts pulled up behind us. People would jump out and look in the direction of where we were pointing. Soon a few of them would wander over to me and my buddy and ask where's the wildlife. We'd respond, we didn't see any wildlife, we just stopped to admire the natural beauty of the park. And with that they'd shake their heads in frustration, hop back into their vehicles and leave, not understanding there's more to Yellowstone than taking pictures of wild animals.

Gutted for Ed Sweeney, he’s had a brain scan which has shown up some kind of blood clot and he’s going to fly back to the UK. He can’t even walk unaided now.

I wonder if he'll be deemed unfit to fly by the airline. Good chance he could be denied boarding as I understand his reduced mobility and health issues are quite visible.

I am still using a Victor Valiant mower with a Briggs and Stratton 2.5 HP engine.

It is 30 plus years old and still going strong.

Only thing it has had is a couple of new spark plugs.

In H.S. we took a tour of the B&S assembly plant in Milwaukee. It was an interesting tour. Saw first hand every step of the assembly process, including the QC done on a random selection of the completed engines.

What struck home with me from that tour is seeing the men and women on the assembly line, doing the same task over and over again until the end of their shift. Kudos to those that can do that, and it's an honest days work for a living, but it's not a job I could ever do.

After skimming through this thread, I was a little surprised that the topic of putting effective links to your home country resources in place is not mentioned or I missed it. For me this is a paramount necessity if one is still primarily legally based in their home county (USA in my case). The following were necessary things that I put in place in order to live in Thailand while being legally based n the US.

    • Many US businesses require a US home phone number. I saw no reason to pay $70 a month for US cell phone service that was useless to me. I pay for a Skype number instead (about $60 a year). Works well enough for my purposes. Some have suggested that Google is a better choice for VOIP service.
    • I pay for a mail forwarding address. This costs $36 a month. Basically this gives me a US mailing address that stores my mail. I can view it online and choose which items I want to send on to my Thai address. I use https://www.usa2me.com/ .
    • I use Charles Schwab Bank as an extension of my trading accounts with Schwab. This enables me to do all of my US banking at no charge. Occasional Schwab international transfers to my Bangkok Bank Account cost $15 and are lately completed in under 24 hours.
    • I have permission from my oldest son to use his home address as my legal residence. This is a huge help for dealing with the IRS, voter registration, etc. I do my best to avoid having any mail sent to this address. I do not want to ware out my welcome. This is the reason for the mail forwarding address. Also my son can send to the mail forwarding address if something does show up, such as a tax filing item.

    There is more, but .....

I've had a Skype number ever since I moved here. I'm now letting it expire, which will happen next week, as I've switched to using Google Voice. I've stopped using my Skype number as it no longer works for receiving OTP SMS messages, whereas GV does.

Like you, I use my son's home address as my stateside address. On the rare occasion I get mail I need to see or respond to, he'll scan and email me a copy.

BTW, the stuff in your link has 13% Deet in it and is similar to what I buy from the 7 11 in Thailand.

I am guessing you already know that. LOL

I never looked at what the active ingredient in Soffel was. I bought the jug of citronella as I knew it was effective as a repellent, but less so than DEET.

I spray my legs and ankles before I head out in the evening. Both products seem to be equally effective as when I eventually stumble home I don't have any bites from my evening out. And that's with the majority of the time spent in open air bars.

Well..as you all know who live here, it was brutal the last 25 days or so.....our A/C bill for a 2 story home reflects just that...highest bill ever here at her home wifey tells me.

    It's cool....no pun intended.

The last week or so, we here are able to NOT put the A/C on until about 2:00pm or so.....but upstairs at night, it goes on immediately when watching TV in the "woman cave" LOL!

I spent a lot of time in Subic don't even recall hearing of the place. But I also didn't know they had a Brettos Deli down there I know they've got the one in AC but never knew they had one in Subic.

Have you stopped in at Hot Zone. Another place owned by a long time hasher. You'll probably get a kick out of his hash name. Humongously Infected Vagina, or HIV for short. :default_biggrin:

I heard that TittyTwister has now reopened on 13/2. Probably  not owned by the two American guys as before and probably nothing like the original bar with the monkey in the corner. Had some good nights there in yesteryear.

Has to be a different owner group as the guy, a German, that opened Titty Twister on the darkside died seven years ago in a motorcycle accident in the Philippines. For a brief period of time he had Titty Twister 2 on 3rd Rd, but the business in that location struggled.

I Bet there will be loads of beach festivals again this year....One after another non stop....

It must be pretty hurtful to the beach road planners to see the beach and walkway have almost no people there month after month during the day.....

No people at the beach......Hey lets have another yet another beach run or food/music festival non stop all year to get people to go to the beach...

Remember in the past there were like 4-5 maybe 6 festivals a year including the fireworks and one big music festival and a few smaller festivals and that was it for the whole year.........Now too many festivals and runs  to even keep up with..

We have to accept the fact we're living in a tourist oriented town and the city planners and businesses will do what it takes to bring more tourists into Pattaya. Whether the infrastructure can handle it or not.

I do miss the old days when there was a low season that had way less traffic on the roads compared to what we now have to endure, week after week.
