  1. ^^^ Smart dog. Knows how to escape the heat. I have three that are now hunkering down in my A/C cooled office. BTW, Be ever watchful for motorbike thieves. I see in the mirror a lady that looks like she's sizing up your motorbike for a quick getaway.
  2. Not on my side of town it isn't. Where are you living, I want to be your neighbor and experience the ever so slightly cooler weather. Maybe rather than move I'll just camp out on your doorstep.
  3. Hover the cursor over the BM's avatar and when you get the pop up window click on Message to send a PM with private contact info.
  4. The sun is brutal. Definitely need to be working under shade today.
  5. @ThaiTim, your previous post with a personal phone number may not be such a good idea on a public forum. Too many nutters out there that could end up causing you grief. If you'd like the post to disappear, suggest using the Report button and ask the mods to delete it.

My dad gave me a slide rule when I started college as I was majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Nice gesture, and I knew how to use one as it was still being taught and used when I was in HS, but by the time I started college they were replaced with multi-function, programmable calculators. Mine was a 2nd hand HP-65 that someone was selling cheap so they could buy the latest and greatest model. For the nerds and geeks out there, remember RPN? https://edtechmagazine.com/k12/article/2012/11/calculating-firsts-visual-history-calculators
  7. What a beautiful stretch of continuous class III, IV whitewater. This guy makes the run look easy peasy.
  8. Very happy with the current USD rate. Building a healthy Thai bank balance while the rate is good.
  9. Thought this article was a good overview of the making of Shogun. The final paragraph left open the possibility of additional seasons. ‘Not only through blue eyes’: Hiroyuki Sanada on bringing ‘Shogun’ to life "It’s uncertain whether “Shogun” will get a season two (the show ends where the novel ends), but when probed, Sanada said that there still is “real history” to reference. “So who knows?” And as “Shogun” is one of six novels in Clavell’s “Asian Saga,” fans might hope for a related production in the future."
  10. For a POA to be legal, someone needs to witness your signature and and then sign as the witness.
  11. I didn't notice this yesterday, but they're squeezing in another new shop across from Nirun.
  12. Progress update on the undeveloped land next to Nirun.
  13. Beach footpath photo update from this morning's rideabout. A few of the new pavers are missing. It took longer than I thought it would, but the shower fixtures still didn't last very long. Meanwhile shower #2 and #3 are still waiting to be finished. The footpath is already pretty narrow in spots, so some mindless drone decided to make it narrower still with strategic placement of trash bins. Wonder when they'll get around to finishing the planting of trees. Odd they finished planting the newer section further south, while the older section to the north has been forgotten. Ending on a positive note. The beach itself is in great shape.
  14. It does seem odd that there are long stretches of the old pavement north and south of the planned monument site. Unless they're going to use different pavers I would have thought they could have replaced the old pavers with new closer to the planned site.
  15. The reason is in the article. That particular site has historical significance. "The inspiration behind this initiative stems from a historic event where Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, accompanied by the Royal Family, sailed in Pattaya Bay decades ago. This event holds immense historical and cultural significance."
  16. The final episode is now available on IPT so started binge watching the series last night. Got through three episodes. A lot of main characters to keep track of making it difficult to remember who's who, but still a very good series.
  17. The site will be used for a new monument to the late King. Pattaya to erect monument honouring King Bhumibol Adulyadej, The Legendary Royal Sailor Pattaya City has unveiled plans to commemorate the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, also known as King Rama IX, through the construction of a monument at the site of the old royal sailing club on Pattaya beach. Deputy Mayor Kritsana Boonsawat presided over a meeting highlighting the city’s dedication to preserving its cultural heritage. The inspiration behind this initiative stems from a historic event where Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, accompanied by the Royal Family, sailed in Pattaya Bay decades ago. This event holds immense historical and cultural significance. On April 19, 1966, at 4:28 AM, His Majesty the King personally sailed a 13-foot OK-class sailboat named “Vega” across the Gulf of Thailand, from the Klai Kungwon Royal Palace in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, to Toey Ngam Beach, Sattahip, Chonburi, arriving at 9:28 PM after a 17-hour journey covering 111 kilometres. His remarkable feat conquered challenging weather conditions and numerous obstacles. ...
  18. Almost all my CD's I purchased via subscriptions to Columbia House's mail order club. I built up quite a collection of CD's taking advantage of the their signup bonus promos and then cancel the subscription. Rinse and repeat. I still listen to the music that was on those CD's as a long time ago I converted them to MP3 files.
  19. This touches on another subject, how aging affects our mind and motor skills and at what point do we become a danger to ourselves and others if we continue drive and/or ride. We're not in a position to judge this particular gentleman, but we probably know of others who are family or friend that we would question their decision to continue to operate any type of vehicle on a public road, especially the busy and chaotic ones in Thailand.
  20. Video is in the article. @lazarus post contains just a screen grab. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/2024/04/22/swiss-national-in-coma-after-brutal-hit-in-pattaya/
  21. Cool video, but I was wondering how they held the balls in place before starting them rolling. The answer was in the video's description.
  22. I only cool the master bedroom at night and a smaller bedroom that I use as a home office during most of the day.
