    Within that link it claims that the insurance will be required for extenders of the retirement Visa as well so it says there we're going to find out soon enough

    The content is a bit contradictory though if you read this;

    “The new rules will be applied to those who enter the country for the first time and those who wish to extend their visas,” Sathit said.

    According to an internal immigration memo dated Sept. 27 seen by the media, only foreign retirees holding non-immigration O-A visa will be affected.

    Why ? C/F @Jambo thread concerning his visit at immigration.

    Expect the unexpected....

    People on extensions wont randomly be surprised by a request for insurance from some arsehole immigration officer... when this insurance requirement extends from those on a visa to include those on an extension it will be well publicized.

    No need to expect the unexpected in this instance.

    Been going to Mart nearly 2 years and never even a small sign of recognition. Same at Villa. Worst is the small liquor shop on Theprassit around the corner from Mart, always spend couple thou baht there but never a hello or thanks and in fact they even studiously avoid looking at me at all. Will be taking my custom elsewhere.

    Why change after 2 years ?

    Stop... They can easily. They just need to have you show up with your bank statement of your home country, or the statements from your government pension.

    They simply dont want to do it because it make them legally liable in case you come up with fake documents (available on the web), and they have certified those fakes.

    The affidavit "self declaration" is B.S. as they simply confirm a verbal statement that you give. In case of problem it is you who lied.

    And it is not really in the list of services a consulate provides.

    But hey, subject done over and over on all forums.

    Verifiable proof..... My embassy here cannot verify my bank statement, Can yours ?

    Don't they just exclude the pre-existing condition and cover everything else?  I know it's a different product, but (some?) travel insurance from the UK works like that.

    Techically yes.

    I had a stroke a few years ago and am on hypertension meds since then and for the rest off my life so anything remotely related to high blood pressure wont be covered....I also suffer from peripheral artery disease i both legs (left 90% blocked/right 70% blocked) so there aint a whole lot left of me covered !!

    My work provides private health insurance but not sure how that works or what is covered.... they did not ask any  questions relating to existing conditions.
