Been fun, nothing like the craziness of Pattaya. But then no pissed up farangs.

The 'main' celebration/ water fight is mostly round the Royal Palace area at the moment, think it'll kick off here about 5pm. I seen them put up barricades and filling huge water tanks. We're all the hotel pool now, she's torturing and playing with other kids and their parents here. All good natured fun. Don't think we'll throw her into the main crowd later, she's only 7, and said she wanted to come to the pool.

We can eat is the air-conditioning opulence of King Power later, marked safe from flour and water 🤣

I have had atrial fibrillation for about 18 years and all too frequently my heart rate has been running in the low 40's and I've occasionally had spells of lightheadedness and dizziness.  This can lead to fainting, which will likely be at the wrong place and wrong time.  So last Monday I had a pacemaker installed.  But not the commonly used type with a battery implanted in the chest and leads going to the heart, but instead it's the newer leadless pacemaker.

This consists of a metal cylinder smaller than a AAA battery.  It's inserted into the femoral vein at the groin and implanted into the right atrium of the heart.  The cylinder has a threaded end and this is screwed into the wall of the heart.  Battery is supposed to last 15 to 25 years.  As I'll be 87 in August battery live is not really a concern for me.  However it can be removed or simply left in place and a second cylinder installed.

Procedure lasted about 2 hours and I had a (miserable, sleepless) overnight stay.  I took the pressure bandage off on Wed morning and could shower.  No driving for a few days to protect the incision.  Otherwise not much drama post-op.

Surprised that with your heart history that you were able to drive.
When I had 2 “fainting fits” my cardiologist told me to inform DVLA and give up my license, as he was obliged under the law to enter it into my medical notes and were I to have an accident, I could well find myself both uninsured and driving illegally if I hadn’t informed DVLA as fainting is classified as losing consciousness and is a reason that DVLA rescind your license and insurance won’t cover you.
I had to get a letter from my cardiologist after a year of not driving and no more “fainting fits “ before I could re apply for my license.

Just heard a Eurofighter Typhoon go over the house at 9000'. Unfortunately, due the appalling weather I couldn't see it, but I knew from the noise, it was a fighter jet.

It has come from RAF Coningsby and no doubt will head back there. Up at 19000' now.

I put the wife and her Thai family on a trip up the lakes on a boat. I watched from the jetty as they sat down on deck seats, just at that moment 2 of those RAF jets flew overhead at a very low height right above them and frightened the F**k out of all of them and me standing on the quayside as I was waving them off.

Notice it starts with one person in the rubber raft. The person flips off at the last moment and then the video cuts to the dummy flying across the water. A good stupid human trick vid none the less.

While looking for a better quality vid of the above I came across this one. It's a borderline stupid human trick, but looks fun as hell. I would try it.

I’d like to try that, but I’d have to learn to swim first.  😉

Unfortunately, posts like this give them more views, and therefore more money.

Had this moron used goggle, he’d soon learn that this type of behaviour would earn him a sound thrashing and he’d deserve it IMHO.

He was lucky to get away with what he did, but will he learn from the experience, I hope not. 😉

I'd pay big money to see that live.

Beauty so deep it's difficult to put into words.

Another great piece by the same composer.
You’ll probably recognise the piece and the film it features in. 👍

I don't have your Pollyanna optimism to the Government that you do. if the EV population increases greatly, the Government will of course, raise the taxes on the use of them to maintain and probably increase the income from EV cars and trucks.

You can take that to the bank.

April 1st 2025 it’ll be £10 for the VED in year one, year 2 it’ll be £180 for cars under £40k

Cars over £40k will be liable to the Expensive Car Supplement, for which various VED rates apply.

Of course the government isn’t going to lose out from the taxes they’ve gotten used to from ICE cars, they’d be stupid to give EV vehicles a free pass.

I can drive into Central London and not pay ULEZ charges or Congestion charges, but after April 2025 I’ll have to pay.

In my jurisdiction, I am on the seniors' government "Pharmacare" plan - they will only pay for a maximum of 3 month's worth of meds whether you're going to be going somewhere or not; if you want to take more with you it would be at your expense; needless to say, I make up the shortfall when I am in Thailand or Cambodia, especially the latter as the meds that I take are much cheaper there.

Sorry mate, I’d assumed wrongly as it turns out, that you were in UK and under the NHS. 😟

    Apologies for that. 🤪
