Last trip we stayed in Grand Avenue condo by Borom, they're still advertising on Booking.com.

Great location & well insulated from the noise.Well equipped & a very helpful agent.Decent gym & a very nice pool.

    Looking for it now

Think I will arrive just after Songkran

Look at Soi 15 , loads of condos on the Soi , easy access to Baukhao or Second Road and a short walk from LK

How much you looking to pay ? I'd recommend looking a little further out from that area. Try to limit some of the noise issues.

About the only time I'd pay a BF was for two women who had the hots for each other, and I was welcome to join in. Hard to get that back in the USA. 🙂

Reminds me of a pair I had over several trips I called the suck n fuck sisters one was definitely more lesbian oriented ( you can work out which one that was ) she could suck the chrome of a tow ball

This was near 20 years ago I was staying at the rumachitt plaza sitting out side at the bar above thermal and my body was saying it's time to get to work and they hadn't scored and made me a offer I couldn't refuse

Used to email them a week or so before arriving in bkk

Sailor bar is arguably a Soi 8 institution these days. Many thanks to @john luke for the brilliant set of pics of both Sois.

It looks like 8 is crying out for investment, the Eastiny Hotels are both derelict and empty along with a few other properties, a far cry from the days of Cherry Bar and others when the Soi was just brilliant. I wonder if the old Soi 8 GoGo is still operating?.

I was in Rolling Live last year, only a handful of customers on the nights we were there, which is a shame as the band is very good, as is the service.

I've no idea why the hotels have not been opened or at least refurbished. Soi 8 is an ideal location, close to the beach and Central and is now a relatively quiet Soi. The hotels had decent sized rooms, pools and were good value back in the day. Looking at Agoda, it seems the last review is 2020, so basically Covid appears to have done for them.

Soi 7 does look to be picking up, a good selection of bars, all it needs is a bit more footfall and customers to head down the Soi. It seems like only yesterday I was eating breakfast in the Pig and Whistle while watching BBC news, or a re run of Only Fools and Horses on the big TV screen.

I miss the pig and whistle

Some good solid grub and great prices

I admire you for admitting such, as we have all (whether admitted or not have fallen for it and one time or another. Some to greate degree than others).

In the end (some sooner than later, some never) we figure it out.

Some of them disfigure themselves so badly that I lose any attraction I may have once had for them. Tit jobs can be a negative game changer. Lip jobs a definate end to any contact.

Sorry to be so superficial. But, it is all ridiculous to me.

Lip jobs and braces put me right off and big rubber boobs

When we first came to the UK in 1992 we stayed with my parents & when I came home from work one day all the doors & windows were open & my mum & dad were sitting in the back garden, luckily it was a nice summers day.

The missus was in the kitchen frying chillies to make powder....

    Been there experienced that

How could they become immune to the Chilli powder is beyond me

Brilliant story, I'm going to order the book next weekend.

"Oxford" is still running, it was found dismantled by a Yorkshireman who's a Land Rover "eccentric" and restored, I think that it's actually done the trip again, but in "reverse". "Cambridge" is still lost, possibly at the bottom of a Ravine somewhere in Iran after a crash, but more than likely dismantled and scavenged for scrap by now.

I love this kind of "overland" trips and videos from the 70's. I recently found a few on YT about a UK company called "Astrans" who used to drive from UK to Saudi / Iran / Iraq back in the 70's. Really interesting stuff.

Years ago I watched a documentary on them traveling through Central America there was no real roads in Panama and they were hand winching these Landovers and jeaps up these ridges in the jungle before they put in the highway

I often visualise NZ convincingly beating England at cricket, but it begins to push the realms of reality a bit...:)

I would but cricket sends me to sleep

Went and got a new debit card. The service at the branch was actually pretty good, besides having to sign the usual 8 or 9 copies/forms.

Also received specific instructions on how to sign-in on the PC app. (they send you an otp for user ID, and you use the pin that I entered at the time I got the new card.

Came home fired up the PC, tried to sign on following the instructions. Fail.

Tried again. Locked out. Checked the mobile app. they send me some notice about accessability on my android. Tried to sort that out. Fail

Then took the card to atm to see if I could figure out things that route. Fail. Locked out, too many attempts

Now will require another visit to the branch to get things corrected.

The last time I tried to sort it out on the phone it was futile.

I rarely have issues with my Kbank app. Anytime I have encountered a problem sorted it out with their customer service lickity split.

Bangkok Bank app sucks I guess if you live in Thailand it's ok but if you change phone your screwed it can only be livened up at the bank

Here in nz I just down load the app put in my customer no and pin and I'm away

    Happy New Year everybody!

I have had a fantastic time, mainly because of a free upgrade to a Deluxe Suite at the Bayview! 92sqm room with floor to ceiling glass with a panoramic view over the whole bay!

Earlier in the day I met up with my daughter in Gullivers for food and drink. It is a place that my Mum and both my sons enjoyed on their visits here. Good food and not too expensive.

It was dark when we left, Beach road was closed off and it was a long walk back to The Bayview via all of the stalls buying snacks for later.. The rest of the evening was spent in the room watching the fireworks display and later the Lanterns falling from the sky in small fiery infernos!!

I know nearly everybody likes to slag off City Hall but for me I think they have done an excellent job!! Whilst walking back through the stalls I thought back to the days when very very few people went on the beach for NYE due to safety reasons. It really has improved a lot since the days when I lived in the village and brought the family down to celebrate NYE...With probably 30 to 50m gaps between families having fun with the kids !!!!!!

Yep it was a bit stinky in some places this time around but I had no problem buying things from the local trader stalls .. The choice really was diverse !!

Well Done to all concerned !!

I haven't walked down beach rd after dark in probably 15 years, so your saying you can walk down there and be as safe as walking st or buakau after dark

I agree. NY Resolutions are pretty pointless, especially where stuff like exercise is concerned. Either do it or don't do it, simple. That's why I started back at the gym, I made an adjustment to my lifestyle which needed to be done at the time, the date is immaterial.

Mate, I know you walk a bit, but maybe aiming to hit a step count like @Golfingboy did and still does. Maybe spend 5 min a day on the rowing machine, make it part of a routine and it'll soon become habit, so you eventually feel obliged to do it which is not a bad thing.

I think positive changes are a good thing, regardless of when they are made. I've totally stopped mid week drinking, now I'm aiming to decrease my consumption when I do have a beer.

I have made one decision for this year though, I intend to spend a bit of money on myself and buy a dogs bollocks expresso / coffee machine so I'll be asking BM's their recommendations. I need a new car as well, but I might have to run that one past the Mrs.

I have a Jura I think it is Swiss had it probably 10 years no problems  but it's a small commercial one I had a customer that serviced coffee machines for gas stations and McDonald's etc they gave it to me because I did a heap of extra work for them
