Watching Sky news, Nicola Sturgeon came on to give her daily update. Had to switch it off as I really can't stand the woman.

Dramatic piece?
He's taken the piece from the article, that's of most concern, to most foreigners regarding Thailand.
Nothing hearsay about it. He's reporting exactly what what Thai officials are saying.
Well for me unless it officially comes from the government it's all hearsay.

See @Bazle post. Richard Barrow has been excellent at reporting throughout this whole debacle. As @tommy dee will confirm, Richard is fairly well connected to those within Thai govt circles, he's a fairly reliable source of news when it comes to Thailand.
I'm not disputing the guys reporting but he's taken the most dramatic piece he could find from the article and made it his headline. Just all hearsay as far as I'm concerned.

Dr Amorn Leelarasamee, president of the Medical Association of Thailand, said he agrees that some restrictions should be lifted to support businesses, but it should be done slowly, carefully and hand in hand with seven-day assessments of new cases. For instance, if new cases are in single digits, then shops or businesses can be reopened provided no more than 10 people are served at a time.
He also said that social distancing should continue being practised. Large department stores may have fewer risks, compared to small air-conditioned shops, the doctor said. Also, entertainment venues that are usually packed with customers, such as pubs and restaurants, should be the last to be reopened, he suggested.
Amorn also said the number of customers allowed to enter shops should be increased gradually, such as 10 initially, then 50 and then 100 based on the rate of new cases. He also warned that there is a high chance of a spike in new cases once the flight ban ends on April 18. Therefore, it is necessary that all foreign or Thai arrivals be put under quarantine for 14 days.
In the future, foreign tourists wanting to visit Thailand will have to apply a month ahead and must agree to a 14-day quarantine upon entering the country. He said this move may help the private sector arrange quarantine sites for visitors.
Thanks for that.

From the 30th of April, foreigners wanting to enter the kingdom must apply 1 month in advance, then enter a 14 day quarantine on arrival. Welcome news for those stuck abroad who have long stay visas or work permits, kick in the teeth for the tourism industry.
Says who.

A long walk this morning took me down to immigration where I took these pics which may help, or may confuse you even more!
The guy I was with planned to go in to pick up forms for a future requirement so I thought I'd ask while in there, but we were there before opening time and got chased away and told to join a queue. There were about 20 folk waiting on the left of the carpark and maybe 10 on the right. I think (but happy to be corrected) that the right hand side is for Covid extensions and the left is for regular business.
Cheers, I think the easiest thing for me to do is just go to immigration and see what they say.

As far as I can see, your visa will be extended until the 30th of April. Then it will depend on what the authorities do next.
My visa is good till the 28th April. I can then get a 30 day extension hower I can't find anything about METV automatically being extend by 30 days.
-
So I arrived in Thailand on the 29th February and got a 60 day stamp which takes me up to the 28th April. I see that some people are getting automatic renewals. As far as I can tell this doesn't apply to me and I will still need to go to immigration.
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

What's the difference between me posting that travelers can't enter the US if they've been in China, and your graphic that says that Trump "restricted travel"? Am I missing some thing here? Neither you nor I are saying that planes are not allowed to come here from China?
What I posted was.from the link you posted.

Trump stopped commercial flights from China and appointed his coronavirus task force in January, so not sure I agree with this, mate. BTW, our left wing called him a racist and said he was overreacting when he did these things. Strangely, they haven't apologized; instead they're now accusing him of moving too slowly.
He never stopped them he restricted them.

Stopping commercial flights form China, that's just common sense.

It was celebrated in New York the weekend of the 13th of Feb. Just as the Wuhan virus was exploding and millions of Chinese were traveling back and forth. One month down the line New York is the worst affected part of the US. Funny that.
🤔
Well in mid February America pretty much thought the virus was absolutely nothing to worry about.

Mayor of New York was encouraging people to go to the Chinese New Year festival to stand up to the bigots. Political correctness kills.
Wasn't the Chinese New Year from 25th January to 8th February.

Beach Gal and I own 2 rentals for about 5 years ( both are paid in full ) .... they are both really nice and one has a swimming pool ... we have them painted each year ( inside and outside ) ... which beside the cost of paint is 70K baht ... the maintenance on the swimming pool is 2K per month ( 24K per year ) ... plus, sometimes some miscellaneous costs ( shower water heaters and a couple of other things I can't remember ... )
So, on 2 properties 100K maintenance each year ( 100K / 12 = 8,300 / 2 = 4160 per month ... ) ... the rent covers all of the maintenance costs .... still both are in non-profit mode because we haven't recouped the purchase price of the 2 places yet ....
Still casually looking for a couple more to buy ... it is one of the only ways I see of making some serious passive money over here ... not for me but for Beach gal and Ziggy .... hopefully they will provide some financial flexibility for them
I see absolutely no need to paint the properties every year.

Well if you agree with the fine you must agree with the measures. Defending the indefensible, putting people at risk for an extra few thousand baht.
As I said I agree with the fine. Please don't assume you know what my view is.

So you would have everyone crammed into small spaces contravening social distancing rules and risking themselves and others getting sick? Makes complete sense. Every other nation on earth has given automatic visa extensions, why not Thailand?
I'm don't sure how come up with an answer like that when all I said was I agree with the fine.
It's up to the Government whether they issue automatic extensions or not. You should know well enough that the Government doesn't care what the rest of the world is doing.
