  1. Very sorry to hear about your work pal. I have a mate who is currently in hospital with complications from the virus. Unable to visit him and having to get info via his sister. He is only 56 and as far as I know, no major previous health conditions. It brings home as to how serious this is when you have someone close to suffering and not just a remote statistic on the daily news.
  2. Emm, why? I think they mean that we cannot resume normality as we knew it 3 months ago until safe to do so. What's in it for any government to have shops closed, factories closed, pubs closed and people spending less money? Why would they want that? Once we get on top of the virus, there will be no need for social distancing and masks etc. Freedom of people leads to a better economy. I think that most governments want to see things back to the old normal but it won't be for a while. Most people want the old normal but know it won't happen over night
  3. How do you know that the information is not relevant? Why do you think that we are not being told everything. Is there some sort of World. Orwelian plot at foot or some major conspiracy to take over the lives of people??? Why would every country affected by the virus spend trillions of dollars fighting the virus and weakening their economies it they did not think it right?.. It really makes no sense. What has the world to gain from C19??? I think that a number of mistakes have been made particularly in the time some governments have taken to react
  4. F**k me, a lot to read but very interesting indeed. Thanks for posting
  5. I think the One thing that everyone unanimously agrees with it that we all want this to be over soon. When that will happen is anyone's guess I don't want to be indoors either. I have just got over cancer and the brutal treatment of radiotherapy. I was just about to book a month in Pattaya then boom comes C19. Its a pig of a situation but I don't blame anyone for it
  6. We are not at war in the conventional sense but we are fighting a Virus. We can't see it, we can only fight to stop it. Ever heard the expression "war on drugs"? But not a conventional war In a sense C19 is more like an Invasion
  7. The truth is what you chose to believe. But that is our own truth. Like yourself I have friend and colleagues that I talk to. We discuss things but it's always opinions rather than fact. Where do you get your factual inside information from regarding covid deaths and I don't mean by talking to a nurse in Scotland. I mean the facts globally. The UK is amongst many countries that have reported thousands of deaths. The USA has about 80000 C19 deaths. Is that also a lie??? To date there has been approx 283000 covid19 related deaths reported World wide. How many do you think have died? And what is your source?
  8. None available since lock down Right hand is my best friend 😊😊
  9. But what is the truth? Your truth? World government truth? Conspiracy theoretical truth? Scientific truth? Where is your evidence deciding which are lies and which is truth? Well as we all know in life, it is about who we chose to believe and who not I think that I would be safe in saying that you are not a scientist You are not an economist You are not billionaire You are not a politician You are not an expert in diseases What you know is from what you read like the rest of us and what you chose to believe based upon your mindset So what I would ask, is why I should believe what you have said? What is the qualification for saying that we are being fed a daily dose of terror and lies? I would suggest that it IS pure cynicism. Nothing wrong with that by the way and not criticising you personally but like most Conspiracy theories., they are quickly debunked(to coin a phrase from my old mate, Mangosteen) 😊😊
  10. Just a minor point. Heart conditions are rarely contagious. They develop naturally and often either genetic or has a result of lifestyle. You cannot catch heart disease at a football match but you can catch the corona virus by doing so at the present time. It appears to me that there are 2 schools of thought 1. Is to do nothing and carry on as normal and let nature do its work and allowing the natural spread of the virus and if some die then tough luck as its a natural culling process of the weak and vulnerable. The fittest survive. 2. Use the science and technology that we have invested so much in over the last 70 years to treat and prevent as many people who are sick and to prevent as many premature deaths possible. To reduce and prevent the same results as the Spanish Flu in 1917 which wiped out a third of the world's population by isolation measures and sanitation. But there is a third factor creeping in which is the usual "blame culture" and "conspiracy theories" who got it right and who got it wrong? Doesn't help at all only serves for people trying to justify their opinions but the truth is that None of Us can say with any exact confidence whether we are right or wrong because we are still in the middle of this world crisis and none of know the consequences. We still do not know whether there will be fresh outbreaks and how many as a result of easing current lock downs. Sure people can predict what they want or what they think everyone else wants but it makes little difference. We got through WW2 and people suffered hardship, heartbreak injury and death (and that was just the civilian population). People gave things up and made sacrifices for 6 long years and the years that followed Why is so much to expect that people cannot do that for 6 months in today's society.?
  11. I can't see that working. But my question for you is...... If you contract the virus and are not hospitalised or suffer a fatality, would you care about passing it on to another person in your close contact area or would yourself isolate until the symptoms have past. You could be asymtematic and pass on the virus to others. But because they are in your group of "don't care" does that mean that if they get very sick that they will not seek medical care?. You see its very easy to make assumptions but those who don't care are more likely to spread C19 to others. In your restaurant scenario I presume that a waiter is going to be prepared to come into contact with the Don't Care brigade? And you would expect them not to care either and risk catching the virus and passing it onto their family? You can see and smell smoke and decide whether you wish to be near it. You cannot see or smell Covid virus
  12. I have been getting a flu vaccination for the last 5 years. I have not had flu since. Does not guarantee I won't catch it but lessens the chances because I have flu antibodies in my system. I am guessing that a C19 vaccine will work in a similar way. It won't completely eradicate the virus but will greatly reduce the symptoms and strengthen the body's response to the virus. I would imagine that some of first people to receive a C19 vaccine will be those over 60 and people with underlying conditions for which C19 can be deadly. I drink a glass of bleach everyday and have been injecting myself with Jeyes fluid so I reckon I will ok🙄🙄🙄
  13. I dont doubt that nearly every single one of us wants to get back to normal life. But the issue is "when" and "how"? Clearly for the majority of infected countries, that is not goingto be yet. Putting dates on changes or setting time frames are ba wish based upon data and models. The virus has no agenda other than to multiply using the human body. I think it is very much a wait and watch game. If infections start to go up again then restrictions will go back to bad they were a month ago. Optimistically if the numbers are stable and the health system is coping then and restrictions will be lifted further. It is common sense to ease restrictions slowly and that people work together in keeping each other safe. Each country will make its own decisions based upon risk and infection and may not be in sync with each other for a long time.
  14. It is irresponsible to pass the virus on or have it passed onto oneself and then pass it onto another through close contact. My choice is not harming anyone else or being harmed anyone else. But we are all responsible for our own actions Let's make a comparison to safe and unsafe casual sex You don't know whether your partner has an STD and maybe you don't care. The next day you could pass it on to another and so on. Or you could say that STDs are just a hoax and don't exist. Maybe not the best analogy but I hope you can see my point?
  15. Where as a friend of mine who owns a hairdressers got a 10k grant from his LA and his staff have been furlowed. He will be able to open up again in time. No one asked for a Pandemic and no one wants it but its here. Its all about striking a balance. People survived WW2 we can survive during this virus. Epidemic. But there has to be a balance between social and economic decisions. None of us can predict the future. It is a trickle effect at the moment and we will have to wait to see the impact week by week and month by month. My personal priority is my own safety the safety of those around me and I want to be alive when things start to get better and I want to be able to travel again but not until. It is deemed safe by either end
  16. Professor Ferguson is but one of thousands of experts around the world. The bigger question is......... Are we prepared to risk them being wrong or right. The truth is that none of can know fore sure. We can only do what we think is right or on the advice and guidance from government. We just have a difference of opinion on the matter and none of us can change the inevitable. Some people are gamblers and some are pragmatists. I just don't want others to gamble with my life because they think they know best. It's that simple.
  17. , Of course they rise but not anywhere in the same proportion as the Covid 19 epidemic has spread. You say that the "only people You can see" etc... I really don't think any of us are qualified to make such a statement as we are not all seeing and all knowing, even if some may think they are. Everyone wants to get back to work and back to normality but that has to depend on when it's safe. You can't just categorise people's opinions by their political or social class. I am not a Boris fan but I think that he has handled the situation quite well thus far. Of course mistakes have been made as they have in other countries but we are dealing with the biggest threat to our nation since WW2. In terms of cancer treatment, I have recently finished my cancer treatment and I can assure you that the Royal Marsden is still treating cancer patients every day. What has to be understood is that treatments such as Chemotherapy Considerably weaken the immune system and leaves them very vulnerable to the virus
  18. Answer to all 3 is the irresponsible spreading of the virus leading to death in some cases and placing the economy over human life. Very easy to answer. I don't need to virtue signal. I am way to old for that stuff. I am giving an honest opinion. After all, isn't that what forums are about? Sharing opinions? I certainly would not waste time articulating a belief or opinion just for the sake of it or to try and impress.
  19. That is what Trump said and now look how many cases of Covid 19 there are now. I would rather rely on science than people with no knowledge whatsoever and engrossed in conspiracy theories and blatant denial. I wonder how many lives could have been saved during the Spanish flu pandemic had we had the science and technology that we have today. No government in their right mind would spend the trillions of dollars needed to to deal with C19 unless they viewed it as a very serious threat to their people. I am borderline high risk group and in almost total isolation. That is my choice. But if irresponsible individuals who only care for themselves want to help spread the virus by denying its severity then the longer we will ALL be in the shit and many will struggle, lose their livelihoods, even their lives not mention the economic impact. The longer it goes on the more into recession we will go. It is the responsibility of governments to help and advise the nation. But its a greater responsibility for the people to work together. In the UK we are fortunate that many businesses have received grants and employees being able to get 80% of their salary. In many other countries, people are starving. Even Pattaya has had queues over 1km long for free food parcels. Total easing of restrictions has not be fully tested anywhere and there are No guarantees that there will not be a second wave of the pandemic
  20. Its 3.15 am in UK,. I woke up and for some reason I could not remember where one of my bank debit cards was. Because I have been self isolating I have been giving the card to the person getting my supplies from the supermarket to use for the purchases and the card was not in my wallet. I looked everywhere except in my bed where I have just discovered it and have no idea how it got there unless I am becoming senile through cabin fever Now I cant sleep and drinking a glass of Bloody Mary. Oh well, tomorrow is another day, just like yesterday and today and every other fecking day 🙃
  21. i feel as I have exhausted Netflix over the last 4 weeks, Last thing I watched today was a few episodes of Come fly with me Since watching every episode of series 1&2 of After Life, nothing seems as good. Best comedy/drama series I have ever watched
