  1. Ah, so now you are inferring I am an alcoholic ?? I enjoy a pint and the company -- it is called socialising. In the present climate we are not allowed to do so and I look forward to the day when we all can, and get a bit of normality back. My opinion is that this should be sooner rather than later-- if you disagree then that is entirely YOUR prerogative. If I disagree with your posts-- then that is MY prerogative What I take issue with is that there are board members on here who have documented their struggle with alcohol and you are belittling them with your ill thought out statement. But as long as you can continue your ad hominem attack on me then thats alright in your eyes ? Keep digging pal, keep digging.
  2. Aye, wonderful. A rent-a-gob go to with an opinion on any thing and everything. Check out his other you tube video content.
  3. More studies regarding face masks, this time from Edinburgh University. <Now a new study by researchers at the University of Edinburgh has looked into the impact of different types of face mask on airflow ejected by a wearer when they breathed or coughed, including standard surgical masks, FFP2 respirators and cloth masks. The researchers found all face masks without a valve, including cloth masks, reduced the distance exhaled air travelled in a forward direction by more than 90%. But they added that fit was essential, pointing out that “surgical, handmade masks, and face shields, generate significant leakage jets that have the potential to disperse virus-laden fluid particles by several metres,” and that such jets tend to be directed downwards or backwards. Dr Simon Kolstoe, senior lecturer in evidence-based healthcare and university ethics adviser at the University of Portsmouth, said when it comes to the science there “isn’t that much to argue about”. He said the new study backs previous evidence that cloth masks were not as effective as FFP1 or FFP2 masks – equivalent to N95 masks – when it comes to preventing the transmission of viruses, but can direct the breath in different ways. But Kolstoe said there was limited evidence about how effective cloth masks were, or whether they have a big impact. The upshot was a debate that was more political than scientific.> "I have generally been impressed by the effectiveness of all the face coverings we tested. However, we discovered that some face coverings allow the emergence of downward or backward jets that people are not aware of and that could be a major hazard to others around them." Dr Ignazio Maria ViolaProject coordinator, the University of Edinburgh’s School of Engineering More information for people to make an informed choice as to the wearing or not of masks. Up To You
  4. Don't bother trying to "dumb down" your posts for my benefit, as my "ability to comprehend" is most certainly not challenged by the bullshit you are spouting. I fully understand the various types of masks available and their particular usage, as I have previously posted on this thread. KLM/Air France have already started with compulsory face masks while boarding and during the journey. Compulsory in my eyes means I have to comply or not fly. If it was not compulsory I would take the decision not to wear one, totally MY choice. I posted "Up To You" and said I would not wear a mask, then you had a go at me in a personal attack for not wearing and now you tell us you DO NOT wear a mask ??? So which applies to you -- is it arrogance, feelings of unmanlyness, cowardliness or all of the above ?? Cheers, An Arrogant Prick
  5. Your reply came from a direct quote that I took from your post number 3810 There is no ambiguity about that statement, no matter how you try to twist it. Also I do not appreciate the Ad Hominem attack -- play nice or take yourself to feck.
  6. And there we have it. Do you feel the need? wear a mask. Do I feel the need? no. Therefore I do not wear a mask. As they are wont to say in Thailand -- Up To You.
  7. I tend to think that unless you are using medical grade masks/PPE , then in reality apart from the minimal protection they provide it is, as you said, only a placebo effect.
  8. Surely it would stand to reason that if a virus can enter, then it would also be able to exit -- therefore rendering masks useless ?? More bullshit from the so called government health "advisors"
  9. Tried this earlier. Not very spicy, though filled a hole with a wee bit of ham included.
  10. Really ?? I suppose it is like us Scots eating haggis.
  11. 1 -- This is not a wartime situation. 2-- People did not "give things up"- there was no availability and had to make do with what there was. We are being denied by a government and prime minister who doesn't know if he wants to shite or wind his watch. 3--Why should we ?? We are getting conflicting opinions on medical advice between England and the rest of the UK. Who is right -who is wrong ?? What do you believe ? It is time to be grown up about this and allow people to do what their own conscience dictates. If you feel you have to stay at home and protect yourself, or go out wearing a facemask and gloves then that should be your decision to make. As Boris said last night, stay alert. (whatever the f**k that means in this situation) It should be said that I understand the situation, but am less than happy with the "evidence" coming from all sides. If I can get out for a pint and people want to stand 6 feet from me while wearing a hazmat suit, that is their perogative -- but I want the same freedom to go for that pint.
  12. And now I have been told I cannot attend the funeral of my friend - immediate family (no more than 8 ) and funeral directors only. Maybe if I stuck a union flag up my erchie and sing "we'll meet again " with 200 other people I would be allowed, but that is patriotic --we are all in this together- wartime jingoistic pish. Fuckin ludicrous
  13. Does that make it any less true ??
  14. I have just found out that a friend of mine took his own life on Friday night. He has had depression issues in the past, but always managed to pull through. Speaking to him a couple of weeks ago he told me he was pissed off cooped up indoors 23 hours a day and all he was doing was getting drunk at home. Any death is tragic, but people should open their eyes and realise there is more to this shite than people dying in hospital. If my friend was allowed a semi-normal semblence of life, he would still be living. Lockdown is killing more than just covid 19 patients.
  15. The former Chief Medical Officer of Scotland, Catherine Calderwood was on the telly every 10 minutes telling us all to stay at home as we were all in grave danger from this pandemic. Do not leave home unless essential blah blah blah then herself was caught travelling and staying at her second home on the coast and had to resign. If these people really believed some of the pish they themselves are spouting, do you really think they would ignore it ?? Stop this crap now and let people get on with their lives - people out there have the information from their governments in regards of how to stay safe, let them them use common sense and be careful, but for the love of God stop these draconian measures.
  16. There have been several care homes here in Scotland that have been overrun by this virus, and in every case no one infected has been removed to hospital. This seems to be the government policy here. The latest is in a care home on Skye where there are currently 57 suffering from the virus and to date 4 deaths there. Looks like they want it contained. Is this the right policy ? Arguments for both sides I guess.
  17. Makes me feel guilty with your healthy eating !
  18. Luskentyre Bay on the Isle of Harris where my mother was born. Spent many a happy day there.
  19. Met her back in 1978-79 in Strathclyde University where her band were doing a gig there. Very pleasant to speak to and was soft spoken, unlike her stage persona. What a wee darling, although her husband, the big fella who was her lead guitarist, was a bit of a grumpy bastard. Will have to get this book.
