You're as young as (the ladies) you feel, as "they" say . . .

That's certainly help me keep young (at heart and in mind), though I'm constantly being called in jest by my UK business partner (who's early 50's), business associates and mates, at various times one of the following:-

     Old git

     Old scrote

    Dirty old git

    Dirty old scrote

Normally it's in response to me emailing or messaging them pics of my Thai "conquests" . . . 😁

    Water off a duck's back . . .

    I put it down to jealousy . . . 😉

Don’t really see the problem. All people should have health insurance in this country.

Couldn’t agree with you more Mr Egg.

Despite not being to a quack of any sort or been in hospital except to visit people for 46 years it’s sods law that now I’m living here something will happen. 8 weeks and counting.

I have BUPA travel insurance, but technically that doesn’t cover extended stays.

Luckily, when I opened my Thai bank account there was a 5k baht mandatory payment needed that’s a 12 month health/medical/accident insurance. It’s actually pretty good.

But they gave me the renewal sheet . . It’s not mandatory then, but big money to renew it.

I’ll have a dilemma in 10 months if I’m still around (in Thailand or on this planet), especially as I’m 65 next month.

Thanks Grayray, but I love a good BJ and don't want to have to go without that.

She's learning, but to be honest I've not seen her for over 2 weeks now. I'm quite happy with bank girl at weekends and midweek visits to GC's.

I used to enjoy eating at Café Pitinis on Soi Baukao, sit outside people watching, while the food was always nice. Done more than one of the waitresses in my time as well!

Anyways, they do a good cooked breakfast when the mood took me, came with toast, fresh orange juice and coffee.. Only issue I had, was I repeatedly told the waitresses that I didn't want the coffee until I had finished the food, so when they brought it out at the start, it was cold by the time I wanted it. Lost count of the amount of times I explained this when ordering, but coffee still came with orange juice before the food 5 mins later! It was headshaking stuff, TIT :default_biggrin:

Absolutely get where you're coming from.

I actually have 2 cappucino's, one as soon as I arrive (the lady makes me one as soon as she sees me walk in now, don't even need to ask) and one after finishing breakfast with a nice smoke.

Despite my attempting to explain numerous times that I want hot toast delivered at the same time as the boiled eggs it falls on deaf ears though.

“Just. What I Needed” is one of my Pattaya anthems.

Not been on the board for a few days, but was in Le Pub on Saturday night and spoke to a few guys there about Ric passing.

While I love "Drive" and as @misteregg says here "Just What I Needed" my favourite Ric song was sung by him as an individual - Emotion in Motion. That song has a lot of memories for me - good ones I might add.

    Rest in Peace Ric.

Thanks for the update BB, i get your frustration with Thai girls timekeeping it would piss me off too, how can you plan your day/night ? but you have the right solution in telling em not to bother, their loss really as there's no shortage of gals. You mention the mechanistic attitude of TF gals and i believe that will always be a potential problem when booking without prior knowledge, thats the beauty of meeting them in the bars, ya get a chance to see if you "click".

Prior to moving to Thailand i was a regular user of a local escort agency and had me favs i would book all the time, totally professional at all times, never arrived late and we always had a great time. One regular little 21 yo Chinese gal i very nearly kept for good and the lady business owner who always brought her to my apartment once told me "you do know Cliff if you want Ying to stay long long time she's more than happy to" we did get on very well lol

Look forward to your continuation BB.

Quite agree about the difference in chemistry between meeting girls in a bar and getting one from TF. I much prefer to have a couple of drinks and build up a bit of rapport with a girl.

What I like here are the options - gogo, beer bar, massage place and TF. Depending on the mood all 4 have worked well.

What I'm really looking for is a hot young lady who can give a top oil massage with happy ending that I can call on to come to my condo some mornings, when I'm in that mood. That's one of my objectives over the next couple of weeks.

huh, my best mate here, a good ole boy from Texas is married to an Executive @ KBank HQ. Very cool girl. Expecting their 2nd boy in a few weeks.

I agree. My bank girl is great (she looks after corporate clients at Krungsri Bank).

Also, when I opened my own account at Bangkok Bank, the manager who did it all for me slipped me her mobile number, on the premise that if I have any issues (particularly with online banking) I can contact her directly . . I have swapped a couple of messages with her, primarily out of courtesy and to keep what could be a very useful contact, but don't want to complicate my life too much at the moment with too many "regulars"

  9. Just a follow up from my post in "post a pic of your brekkie", which I did yesterday, explaining that I like to go and have a quiet breakfast in a quiet restaurant, read the Bangkok Post, do the sudoku and crossword and just chill.

Well, that went to pot today. I actually woke up at 7.30 this morning, pottered about a bit, did a few emails, then walked down beach road to find my little breakfast hideaway (it's called Olala). It's two doors away from Sand Bar. Well, this morning, there was a massive crane outside Sandbar, a couple of trucks and half a dozen blokes. I obviously wondered what was going on. I sat down in Olala, ordered my usual egg and bacon and was just starting my first cappuccino when they started using chainsaws on the very large, dead tree that sits in the middle of Sand Bar. What a bloody racket. They cut it down in sections, put each section on the road, then cut that up in sections so it would fit on a pickup truck.

The noise was unbearable and could see it was going to take a good couple of hours for them to complete the job.

Scoffed down my egg and bacon and legged it as soon as I could. It ruined breakfast for all the folks in Olala. I couldn't believe there were still people in the other section of Sand Bar still eating breakfast. It was deafening two buildings down, actually being in there must have been unbearable.

  10. Thanks @maipenrai, much appreciated.

Haven't heard of Blush, will look it up.

As it's Friday, very little threat of rain, and I feel satisfied that I've done a fair bit of work for my UK business, I feel justified in bunking off this afternoon. I'll head to Passion to see what it's like. Need to gauge how to keep the tanks full for when my bank girl comes on Sunday. An emptying this afternoon and perhaps tomorrow night (I have a plan on who this is going to be) by Sunday evening when she arrives I should be ready to rock and roll . . .

I've stayed in that area many times myself and that Thappraya/Thepprasit junction always gives me the willies too....

Yep, it's lethal. I sat in the bar right on that junction the other night with the owner who kindly offered to be a witness. Sat for an hour, saw at least 5 incidents that could easily have turned into accidents, including a coach doing a fucking u-turn (it was a 7-point turn) which is illegal there and clearly signposted "no u-turn". It took him about 5 minutes to do it, holding traffic up and causing a jam as the lights changed 2 or 3 times during that time.

    Just don't get the mentality.

Thanks for the report sir. Unreal story about the accident, it’s not even safe to cross the damn street in Pattaya. Look forward to the rest

BTW, where is this club with fun on the premises you were referring to, off Beach Road a few posts back?

It's not actually safe to walk on the bloody pavement, let alone cross the road, in Thailand generally. No law enforcement on motorbikes zooming down the  pavement, both ways. I saw a video recently (on Stickboy if memory serves) of a Thai lady standing on the pavement at a place in BKK where motorbikes are always taking short cuts across the pavement. She stood her ground, stopping them and got a load of stick for doing it. Ridiculous. Until the police here enforce the law and start protecting pedestrians against that there will continue to be numerous people hit while innocently walking on what's supposed to be a safe environment. Having lived here now for over a month that's the one thing that really pisses me off about the place. Being here for the usual 10 nights on holiday previously I tended to just put up with it, mai pen rai. But being here permanently it's really getting on my tits and so tempted to say something or take a stand, but that could be dangerous. All of a sudden 10 of their mates show up and you end up getting a kicking.

The Gentleman's Club is Kit Kat. It's in an L-shaped pedestrian precinct, with access from beach road, near the police building on the promenade or from a side road off the main road drag that runs between a couple of bars.

There's another one in Jomtien too, Passion. Not been there yet, but it's walkable from Jomtien town centre. I plan on giving that a try over the next few days.

I love reading the news (especially a real paper) with my tea in the AM.

Nice when living in a condo that there are places unoccupied next to you, especially above.

Yeah, since I moved in 3 weeks ago I have no-one to my left or right or above. There has been some activity in the one below, but very infrequently.

Hope it stays that way . .

@Britboy, now that you have a condo, couldn't you consider preparing your own breakfast ?

For me breakfast (07.00 am) is THE meal I like to be alone, in a quiete environment.  Even when I lived / worked in BKK, my ex in the beginning said "I explain to the maid how to prepare your breakfast" . No way dear, just tell her to stay in her quarters, at 06.00 I dont want her around the table.

Same here, breakfast is alone on my terrass, the Miss joins a bit later.

Then again, I dont eat a full British.... but 2 eggs, a few slices of bacon in the pan is easy and fast.

I get what you're saying TS, but I enjoy the walk and nice to be waited on, providing the breakfast I get is what I enjoy.

Frankly I can't be arsed to keep the stock in the condo - it's a fag to get the shopping in. I don't like the condo stinking of fried bacon either.

I get a table to myself, have as many coffees as I feel like, sit quietly and read the Bangkok Post, do the sudoku and crossword, then meander back to start work.

If I had someone to cook it for me, fine, I'd enjoy looking out over the bay while I do all of the above. One thing against it is the strong wind that tends to blow straight into my balcony. That's really nice as a cooling factor, but the Bangkok Post has been known to go flying over onto next doors balcony, the condo of which is unoccupied . . .

  15. After trying quite a few of the restaurants along the pedestrian area of Beach Road, Jomtien - directly behind the view talay buildings and Grand Condotel, I've finally found a place that can give me the breakfast I want, at a very good price.

At all the other restaurants I've been too (price ranging from 100 baht to 180 baht) they offer English breakfast and American breakfast. Despite trying to explain I don't want any salad, I don't want those awful pink sausages cut up into various whizzy shapes, I don't want that yukky ham - I simply want egg, bacon, two bits of toast, butter and jam (would prefer marmalade, but no chance of that). I've finally found it . . . Olala. It's a smallish place, next door but one to Sand Bar. The staff are good too, though English isn't brilliant (the primary waitress is from Myanmar).

There I can get exactly what I want, at a cost of 125 baht, which includes a coffee. The coffee isn't brilliant, so I had a cappuccino . . . This is extra of course. Today I had egg and bacon, two bits of toast, butter and jam plus 2 cappuccino's - total 235 baht.

The good thing for me is they do the eggs just how I like them. I hate snotty fried eggs and hate them overdone. These are just perfect for me.

    Thoroughly recommended.

If that happened in Ireland or uk ( don’t know about other countries) you would have every solicitor within a 20 mile radius looking for your business.

It would take years to come to come to a payout and solicitor and doctors would get more out of it .

in Thailand from accident to payout took less then a week and all sides happy .

I think I perfer Thailand’s way of doing things ,

Glad to hear she is ok .

Thanks Homor, yes, she's in decent shape now and back to work at the bank.

I'm not sure what would have happened if the motorbike girl had contested it. It may have then dragged on much longer, so I'm grateful for that.

The accident happened just after midnight on Friday night and was all signed, sealed and witnessed by 2 pm on Monday.

Unfortunately I often cross that same road a few times every day/night. It's highly dangerous at the best of times and I cack myself every time I take my life in my hands to cross it. They really need to tighten up those lights and make all sides show red lights with no left turns on red for a minute or so to allow people to (hopefully) cross safely.

Last night I stopped in Nana bar, which is at the bottom of Thappraya Road, just before the right turn down towards the beach. Sat with the owner for an hour, sitting on the roadside side of the bar on a stool. Witnessed two accidents (minor) and a motorbike zooming down the pavement. Fucking dangerous here . . .

Did you give the top cop a nice cigar??  Usually opens a few doors and smooths a few paths. Will SMS later ...... Ipswich good start too so all looking good :default_friends:

No bribes needed mate, thankfully. She got their attention all on her own, which was actually quite impressive. The guy on her right in the pic was pretty senior, he seemed to grab the case by the short and curlies . . .

Yeah, great start for my boys. Shows how we're so in the wrong division, our game Saturday against Rochdale has been postponed because of international call-ups from us . . .

  18. 10 hours ago, Yessongs said:

Wow so sorry for your gal, hope all is well and sounds like she is on the road to recovery. Sadly, dealing with these types of situations is not Thailands strong point.

To be fair, the cops at the police station were top drawer and handled things properly and professionally.

It was they "cop" and the cop that showed up at the scene that had me concerned, cos they didn't even talk to me. Plus the ambulance took an age to arrive, and my girl told me that they actually took a slight diversion on the way to the hospital to pick up another accident victim. WTF?
