  1. Decided to go have a look for myself. I was due for a shopping trip. This was the beef & pork section at my local Costco Business at about 2:30 pm Monday. Picked almost clean. At least gas was cheap'ish.
  2. This should warm a few forum members' loins...
  3. "plenty of reports"...? Such as? This particular story is about livestock. Pigs, steers, chicken, etc. Stories about dairy, produce, etc. -- losing their market, especially restaurants & schools -- are all over the media. Besides, the US gov'mint always pays farmers not to farm. Subsidies are a big part of the "pork" that farm state politicians deliver to their constituents. "...In 2017, American farmers received $11.5 billion in subsidies, 15.3% of $75.1 billion in total net farm income..." see: https://usafacts.org/articles/federal-farm-subsidies-what-data-says/
  4. COVID-19 is starting to create havoc in the US food supply chain. Some of the largest slaughterhouses have been forced to shut down due to workers contracting the virus. This news will likely create panic buying at grocery stores and big box food outlets. Story: 'The food supply chain is breaking,' Tyson says as plants close ...US farmers don't have anywhere to sell their livestock, he said, adding that "millions of animals — chickens, pigs and cattle — will be depopulated because of the closure of our processing facilities." "There will be limited supply of our products available in grocery stores until we are able to reopen our facilities that are currently closed," Tyson wrote... ...Pork processing plants have been hit especially hard, with three of the largest in the United States going offline indefinitely— Smithfield Foods in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; JBS pork processing in Worthington, Minnesota; and the Tyson plant in Waterloo, Iowa. Together, the three plants account for approximately 15% of pork production. source: https://edition.cnn.com/2020/04/26/business/tyson-foods-nyt-ad/index.html

  7. Sure, lots of folks will believe &/or do just about anything that Trump tells them. States see spike in poison control calls following Trump's comments on injecting disinfectant "...In New York City, the Daily News reported that the Poison Control Center saw 30 cases of “exposure to Lysol, bleach & other cleaners in 18 hours after Trump’s suggestion” that cleaning products might be used to treat coronavirus. NYC Poison Control saw only 13 such cases in a similar period last year..." https://www.foxnews.com/us/states-spike-poison-control-calls
  8. Geez, it's not just the fat old farts (over 60) that should be worrying... COVID-19 Linked to Large Vessel Stroke in Young Adults "Physicians in New York City, which still leads the nation in reported COVID-19 cases, are reporting significantly more acute, large vessel strokes in young adults infected with COVID-19. In a rapid communication to be published online April 29 in the New England Journal of Medicine, investigators led by Thomas Oxley, MD, PhD, department of neurosurgery, Mount Sinai Health System, report five cases of large vessel stroke over a 2-week period in COVID-19 patients under age 50 years. This represents a sevenfold increase in what would normally be expected. The five cases had either no, or mild, COVID-19 symptoms... ...Oxley and colleagues dedicate their report to "our inspiring colleague Gary Sclar, MD, a stroke physician who succumbed to COVID-19 while caring for his patients."..." https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/929345

  12. I'll stick to advice from the doctors... FDA warns of risks with Trump-promoted malaria drug WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning doctors against prescribing a malaria drug widely touted by President Donald Trump for treating the new coronavirus outside of hospitals or research settings. In an alert Friday, regulators flagged reports of serious side effects and death among patients taking hydroxychloroquine and the related drug chloroquine. The drugs, also prescribed for lupus, can cause a number of side effects, including heart rhythm problems, severely low blood pressure and muscle or nerve damage. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/apr/24/fda-warns-of-risks-with-trump-promoted-malaria-dru/

  14. American president recommends light treatment and disinfectant to cure COVID-19... "And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you're gonna test that, too. Sounds interesting, right?" He continued: "And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets on the lungs and it does a tremendous number, so it will be interesting to check that. So that you're going to have to use medical doctors. But it sounds, it sounds interesting to me. So we'll see." https://www.foxnews.com/politics/media-erupt-over-trump-comments-on-disinfectant-heres-what-he-said
