Also find myself leaning to more Right Wing views as the older i get, coincidence with the above ?

    That's not good.

All the American driven right wing neo liberalism led to the complete cluster f"*k that is Brexit.

Hands up who thinks we've got out country back?

And if you had your time again would you be able to bring your lovely wife into the UK with the proposed required income requirements?

Sorry for the off topic, but all this nonsense large parts of the electorate has swallowed will only serve to f*** the economy.

Back on topic, calm down and learn to love thy neighbour😗

Agree, no doubt. It's all about the rythymn.

At the same time, regarding tolerance as we get older....

I think it's a mixed bag. In more ways probably much less tolerant, but also in many ways more so (understanding).

It becomes more about time management (is it worth it sort of thing). As you go through stages of this you better understand how to manage interactions and the time you allow yourself with others (or out in general). Because you better understand and recognize your inner tolerance. As you do so you can sort it out better (manage it) or, as for some folks let it destroy your life.

When you have other folks in your life that are on the similar level (with what I said above) things are pretty cool.

    Great post.

Totally agree on meeting like minded people. Back on the original post and tolerance, environment is a huge factor for me.

I'm in Bangkok for a long weekend, have a few things to do and have made a good start on it.

Not sure how tolerant I'd be living here day in day out. Maybe that just suggests I should get out of Sukhumvit!!!

Maybe spending time in SEA softens us all a bit, makes us more understanding and even permanently rewires our brains to just accept stuff like we do when over there.

    I'd agree with that.

I've been living  in Thailand a couple of months, find myself more relaxed, far more tolerant of others and more understanding that things that are easy for me, may not be so for others.

The locals attitude to life has slowly rubbed off on me.

Not to beat a dead horse to death but...was looking around yesterday and caught this guy's review on the exact way to pick up girls at Thermae......I was there with the 3 above BM's in Feb, then a return trip in July with some "noobs" Always great to know "how to do it" LOL!

I like it if the girl in Thermae Cafe Bangkok is holding her handbag with two hands in front of her. Arms straight. Cellphone in her handbag. By this, she is telling you, "Look at me. I’m here to receive and please you.” For me, this rule alone will almost guarantee a good to possibly even superb experience.

If there is a stunner that you really want and she insists on getting a stuffy old room upstairs, then I guess you don’t have much choice.

I have a no taxi rule. I’m slim and in good shape so this rule works for me. It may not be appropriate for others who have trouble handling the Bangkok heat. I usually get a hotel a ten-minute walk away from Thermae Cafe. And that is what I tell the girl. If the girl insists on a taxi, then she is out. She will not provide good service if a ten-minute walk is too much for her. They are all younger than me.

If the girl is always touching her hair, she is out. She is egocentric and therefore will not provide good service.

If the girl is glued to her cellphone, she is out.

If the girl has her arms crossed and looks unhappy to be there, she is definitely out.

If the girl waves or grabs you, she is out. She will likely have a demanding personality. Choose her if you want to be dominated by a girl.

If the girl’s outfit looks expensive, she is out. I can tell if the dress is expensive or not. She will likely quote a very high rate.

Most Thermae girls tend to dress up, but if the girl is dressed like a cheap working girl, she is out.

If the girl had plastic surgery, she is out. Sometimes it’s obvious. Sometimes, it’s not. The girl is egocentric and overly concerned with outer beauty.

The upside of these rules is that you will most likely get a decent to great service from the girl in Bangkok’s Thermae Cafe. The major downside is that the stunners will probably be eliminated by one or more of the rules. But it’s always give and take in life. So go ahead and find the perfect girl in Bangkok to show you a good time.

Does the guy ever manage to do a complete circle of the room before closing time😃

I was losing the will to live reading that list.

Just booked another Thailand trip ... for Oct 2024 - returning early Dec

It's much further ahead than I would normally look , but I was just checking prices to compare with my recent trip and my next one ...and I saw Etihad Business, good connection times for £2,170  .... I do prefer direct , but that was too good to ignore ..

I'm booked with Ethihad for the first time in May, flying one was from the UK back to BKK. The single flight was easily the cheapest at a base price of £420, think Eva was well over £600.

For a £100 I've updgraded to a cabin with larger seats, guess it's a form of premium econony

I shall report back on my experience!

But overall he comes across to me as a used car salesman.

    Good call.

I posted a negative review for an obviously fake, plastic Irish pub that he'd reviewed along with others, during COVID. Everyman and his dog had reviewed the same place, farcical really.

He and several of his disciples kept trying to come back on me without much success. To be fair to him, he didn't block me out.

But these guys are salesman, the owner is always a great guy, the food the best in it's class e.t.c

If I was 13 years old again I'd find these vloggers credible, but that's a long time gone!!!

I watched them during Covid , but they all eventually started to annoy me and one by one I unsubscribed.... I still follow a few Thailand based vlogs, but none in Pattaya

Same here, zero interest now in any Thai vlogs. I can see how they might be of interest to people who are unable to travel, say medical reasons, finances.

If you are able to travel you are much better making up your own mind on the ground, and let your eyes be your guide.

I have though "liked and subscribed" on the Fabulous Pattaya news channel. I'd view them as different from the vloggers as they are putting out a news service.(and much of it is relevant to the whole of Thailand). And perhaps most importantly succinct.

Less than 5 minutes for the daily news bulletin, not the same thing reapeated, very, very slowly

Hard to believe that people are still producing "content" going around filming on the streets of Pattaya.

Triple Karmeliet a great beer would be worth 280 baht but not served warm. First time trying a new bar, won't be back.

Noticed as I was paying that the fridge with the foreign beer was maintained at 11.8 degrees.

The fridge with the Thai beer was 1.9 degrees.

La Birra Hua Him, wonder how many days there business would last serving Thai beer at 11 degrees?

When i lived in the UK pretty much all i drunk was real ale, i bloody love the stuff, but i must confess that i do agree with many of this things this chap says. It was not really a problem over 20 years ago, but since then, with all these Micro Brewers that spring up everywhere, the real ale scene has changed somewhat...

Very funny and I'd agree with large parts of it from a UK perspective.

However in Thailand I'd love the option!! Don't like any of the omnipresent Chang, Leo or Sing. There are of course some craft beers

Had this the other night and it was fantastic

    image.png

Bloody annoying as this proves the Thais can brew decent beer, but the market is carved up by the legislation and the big players.

Went to Singha's bar Est.33 in Bangkok, they had several different draft ales, all way, way better than the piss they normally sell. So they can make a decent ale but just don't make the effort. Why bother when you've got an oligopoly?

Who was the comedian in the video BTW?

If Bangkok pharmacy try to rip you,try a pharmacy on petchakesem Rd opposite from soi ,47 or 45, you'll see some food carts outside at the 7,11 on the corner, used this pharmacy a few times throughout the years.

I did try that pharmacy, unfortunately they tried it on.

I showed them the pic of the generic statin @forcebwithu found. He didn't have it but showed a strip of 10 tablets.

The pharmacist asked me twice how many boxes I wanted. Twice I replied how much per box.

He grudgingly typed 370 baht into the calculator. I pressed him a third time so 370 for a box.

No the wanker was quoting me 370 for a strip of 10, despite asking twice how many boxes. So not 370, but 1100. I laughed and walked off.

Hit lucky on the other side of Petchkasem road. There's the largest pharmacy I've been in Hua Him. It's on the junction of the sub Soi 55/2.

Got these that retail online at 495 for 500 baht, so very fair price.

Am loving your recommendation on Soi 51, have found some cracking little spots to investigate. The way it goes here, the good easily outweighs the bad, and sometimes you catch an unlucky break.

Looking at my last pension statement I actually lost almost £2500. To be honest, I am actually looking at taking money out from it, but I have to be careful for tax reasons.

I'd recommend you talk for a financial advisors before making any big decision. And perhaps don't make any financial decisions at present

I look after my own investments. One of my share portfolios  in the  recent  months had dropped from lets say for illustration from  228baht, all the way down to 187baht

It would have been easy to panic, and look to switch. Now it's recovered back to 220baht.

You are welcome to PM at any point. I'd never tell you what to do or buy, but happy for you to bounce ideas of me.

In terms of fee, I can be bought off with a coffee and a cake!!
