  1. You don't need proof of £12,000 for a start, and brits weren't even getting accepted for certain visas, the list of ASQ hotels was well shorter as well.
  2. Topsy turvy season in the PL, no side really setting it alight, the big guns way below par. It reminds me of the season Leicester won the PL. This could be Spurs best chance to win the league for some time.
  3. I don't know if it's true or not, but some geezer on twitterr claiming when he flew LON-BKK with Thai last week, they had no IFE. Apparently they didn't pay the rights for IFE...
  4. Yep, that's what rules me out. The longest I could get away for at the minute, would be 4-6 weeks, I can't justify spending 2 of those weeks in quarantine. I imagine there are many others like me. However, if you can get away for 3-6 months it would be worth it. I'd happily sacrifice 2 weeks in quarantine for 3-6 months in the UK winter, suffering arbitrary lockdowns, and the daily newscycle of misery and fear.
  5. It's hard to gather what exactly is going up when you get some many conflicting media reports. The quality of English language journalism in Thailand is diabolical. Having said that, it's still a significant change for the better that the financial requirements have been dropped, and it's still much easier to enter than it was 2 months ago.
  6. I asked the embassy if the visa exemption was being reinstated. This was the reply...
  7. So as usual, clear as mud. It doesn't mention anything on the COE website about needing a visa, maybe the RTE in London are just late to catch up. I have emailed them to see how they respond. It's being widely reported that you will be enter on a visa exemption, including by Richard Barrow, who I don't think has got a thing wrong yet.
  8. Aye, but the process of applying for a COE is much easier, and my understanding of these rule changes is you don't need a visa to get a COE. You can get a 30 day visa exemption, which they are hoping to extend for 15 days to compensate for quarantine.
  9. Interesting, considering its a lot easier to enter Thailand that it was 4 weeks ago, I would say the situation has improved, massively considering 4 weeks ago you needed to have proof of finances etc.
  10. You don't think it's a million times better than just 4 weeks ago? I agree the quarantine is a deal breaker for many, but for retirees and long stay visitors, this must be a welcome move.
  11. I just went on the website. You register first for the certificate of entry, when that's approved you book ASQ and flights, upload it and send it within 15 days. Then the embassy will process the application within 3 working days. Get your covid test within 72 hours of flying and then you show your documents at the airport. This is a huge relaxing of the restrictions! I'm tempted...
  12. I don't think it's just a question of money, it's also time and inconvenience. Most people of working age are unable to holiday for more than 4 weeks at a time, spendinf 2 of those weeks in quarantine won't appeal to most. However, the situation is now much better for those folk who wish to return to thailand, I'm sure the latest easing of restrictions will allow those guys to get back and see their thai wife and families.
  13. Incredible. I only found out a couple of weeks ago you could make transfers. I thought you had to wait until January.
  14. Making Jamie Vardy my captain pulled me out of a hole this weekend.
  15. Sheffield United and West Brom a cert to go down.
  16. The biggest impediment is the quarantine period. I'm dying to get back out there, but I can't fathom spending 15 days out of a 30 day holiday stuck in a hotel room. Personally, I think that when this is over, Pattaya will experience a high season like it hasn't done for years, maybe even decades. All those punters and once a year trippers locked out for almost 2 years, the bars will be roaring busy for a few months at least. Then after that I think it will return to pretty much how it used to be, with the Chinese making up an ever greater proportion of the tourist numbers.
  17. Judging by the choice of language on the advertising, their target market clearly isn't fat, ugly western sexpests like us.
  18. Hard to disagree. But I think pretty much every country on earth has their work cut out trying to attract international torusits, even a country with low rates of covid like Thailand. People either can't travel, or aren't allowed to travel, especially here in the epicentre of upside down world.
  19. Those levels are bad, but I experienced worse in Bangkok, over 300+ on the AQI on some days. The air was thick with smog, I'm young, fit and healthy, and it made me physically sick. It was horrible, couldn't walk 100m combined with the heat.
  20. Yes, I also seen somewhere that only 750 or so tourists have entered Thailand under the new STV. I actually think these proposed restrictions will see more tourists coming into Thailand. However, its not just about the situation in Thailand, some countries have a ban on international travel. But at least they're trying...
  21. The Pattaya News reporting that the Thai govt are mulling a further relaxing of restrictions.
